 | 07:33 am - All Things Phantom - BlogTalkRadio If you haven't heard, there's a new way for fans to connect in the Phantom world at BlogTalkRadio.com. We've started a new Internet Talk Radio Show, which debuted last week.
I would like to thank everyone for catching our first show live on July 11th. We had a few technical difficulties with sound qualities with my co-host being out of town, but all will be clear this coming week July 18 @ 5 p.m. PST.
I cannot believe how many people showed up! We had 19 streaming the show live, and nearly half were in our chat room. 112 have downloaded the archived show within one week. We even had listeners from England and Spain and two brave callers joined us live. We've been flooded with emails this week with comments full of kudos and requests to be on the show.
Saturday, July 18 our show will broadcast live at 5:00 p.m. PST. We have a new introduction by the Phantom himself that will knock your socks off and give you chills. The man who did the vocals will be our guest.
The second half of the show we will open the lines and talk about Christine Daae, so be ready for a lively discussion! If you're too chicken to call in live, then join us in the chatroom and post your comments there.
You can stream the show live from our BlogTalkRadio show page or listen to the archived show if you can't catch us live. Keep up to date on future shows by visiting our show page or our new nifty blog at All Things Phantom Show Blog.
Come join the fun with a bunch of Phantom fans we we talk about all things Phantom!

 | 09:05 am - Wankable of all Wank... the second book cover for The Madrigals!
What if a demon were to creep after you one night, in your loneliest loneliness and say, ‘This life which you live must be lived by you once again and innumerable times more; and every pain and joy and thought and sigh must come again to you, all in the same sequence. The eternal hourglass will again and again be turned and you with it dust of the dust!’ Would you throw yourself down and gnash your teeth and curse that demon? Or would you answer ‘Never have I heard anything more divine’?—Friedrich Nietzsche
With anticipation I have long held back like a team of wild horses, I can begin to give my fans and fans of The Phantom of the Opera a glimpse into my upcoming release ABENDLIED, book two of The Madrigals! For years I have studied Gaston Leroux's most mysterious character, Philippe Georges Marie, the Comte de Chagny. My favorite in all of classic literature, the mystery behind this man sparked my imagination and so much more. MADRIGAL begins four years after the events in Leroux's novel, picking up on famous 'plot hole' in the book and branching out from there. ABENDLIED, though second in this series, can be read without reading MADRIGAL... a plus. I won't say more expect if you are a fan of Philippe de Chagny or are curious about him... read on.
Here is the promo copy for ABENDLIED that my publisher has finally released. (Abendlied will hit the shelves October 2009) Stay tuned! (Madrigal can be purchased at all major book retailers and online retailers. Here is a link for those interested! http://www.amazon.com/Madrigal-novel-Gaston-Lerouxs-Phantom/dp/0981557333/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1246883904&sr=8-1)
Croyez! JenniferDesiring normalcy is difficult enough with a price on his head, but when Erik is falsely accused of killing Philippe de Chagny, brother of his nemesis Raoul, he is launched toward madness.
Anna is an unlikely companion, sharing Erik's heart and the bounty on his head. As the manhunt heats, Erik's mysterious relationship with Philippe spurs the campaign against them forward and exposes her darkest secret: defending her honor ended in murder.
Plagued by his past as The Phantom of the Opera, Erik’s memories enslave his heart to Raoul’s wife Christine, whose shocking confession brings a ruthless bounty hunter into the fray and blackmail to the Chagny bloodline. Blackmail from a hunter who cares little about the Phantom or Philippe and everything about the one he has lusted for: Anna.
With the past weeping like an open wound, can love endure or will it take memories of one unlikely man to heal them all?
Memories of Philippe Georges Marie, Comte de Chagny...

I've only just discovered Spotify, and if you havent downloaded yet, please do, its awesome. Its like illegal file downloading but without the illegal file downloading, so you can listen to music on demand for free, and a heck of a lot faster (and 100% less viruses!) Of course, being the Phantom geek that I am I did some phantom searches on it. Turned up a few interesting things, karaoke versions, even Montovannis Lullaby of the Bells which Ih ave been hunting for for YEARS. But I digress.
Search for "phantom of the opera wing" if you dare.
I cant describe it. Just listen. Listen to the whole album. You'll pee yourself laughing. WTF??!?!?!?!

How it works: story and art ideas are submitted, compiled, and claimed anonymously. You'll have until July 13th to write/draw, and the results will be posted, anonymously, throughout the summer. When everything's done, we reveal who did what.
Here's the prompt submission thread, and keep in mind you can submit prompts even if you don't want to create anything.

So, I'm searching for something, and it goes back (at least "back" in internet time, which means four years is a long time), so I'm posting here in case any of you know where I can find this. There was someone back in 2004 or thereabouts who was writing their own musical version of Susan Kay's Phantom. I found one of the songs on my computer (and it came up when my mp3 was on shuffle) and the song was "The Lesson" and it was about Erik giving a singing lesson to Christine. There were lots of other songs that I didn't save, alas. Whoever wrote this was quite talented and had an amazing voice and recorded herself (in "The Lesson" at least) singing all the parts. I was wondering if anyone knows who that person was, and what the website was where she posted all her work, and if there is any way I can still access it. I figured you phanwankers have been around some time (and remember phantomfans.net, because that's where this person was and where she posted the link and her progress in this work) and could help me find it. Thanks! Current Mood: anxious Current Music: The Lesson - unknown

 | 08:58 am - THE ULTIMATE VIDEO WANK! When I first started doing Phantom movie reviews on YouTube, my original plan was simple. Say a little about a few of the Phantom movies that I feel strongly about, namely the ALW version, the Herbert Lom version and... *shudder* the Dario Argento version.
Well, the only trouble with that is that fans kept sending me DVD rips of more obscure versions and more than 30 reviews later, I finally get round to the main reason I am here. To mock that ultimate of wankable movies - THE DARIO ARGENTO VERSION.
Ladies and gentleman, the wait is finally over...
Part 1 is online here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfDOzvz4pPs with a new part up every Friday or therabouts.
Fans of this boards own lovely Biskuits will be pleased to know that she has a bigger role than ever before with quite a bit of hilarious commentry throughout the movie. | 01:46 am - I Love Encyclopedia Dramatica *Reiterates subject* Everything there is so mean, but it's all so hilarious. For the unfamiliar, Encyclopedia Dramatica is a huge wiki that makes fun of the internet--and, indeed, the world--at large. Fandoms, websites, business, and people are torn to pieces in mean-spirited, mock-educational, and oftentimes side-splitting articles.
Tonight I looked up PotO; their article was a little lacking (really, there are so many more things they could have mocked), but I think many will get a kick out of it.
Somehow, they don't have phanwank listed under their LJ section; yet another bit of proof that you shouldn't trust wikis as exhaustive sources, no matter what that idiot girl in your literature class tries to tell you.

Announcing THE GASTON LEROUX TRIBUTE BIRTHDAY DRABBLE CONTEST! In honor of the pending release of ABENDLIED: book two of The Madrigals, I am hosting a drabble contest. This is your chance to have your writing judged by professional writers for a chance to win a Phantom of the Opera themed gift basket along with a signed copy if MADRIGAL. In addition, several contest judges have offered signed copies of their books as well. What is a drabble? A drabble is a story told in 100 words. No more, no less. Many times in the fan-fiction world drabbles are a bit longer. Knowing how restricting writing tight can be THE GASTON LEROUX TRIBUTE BIRTHDAY DRABBLE CONTEST will have an upper limit of 300 words. It does not have to be exactly 300 yet cannot go over the limit. For detailed information, visit my blog http://jenniferlinforth.blogspot.com and follow the link in the upper right corner for rules and the theme. Updates and announcements regarding the contest will be posted on the blog. The contest will open 12:01AM EDST on May 6th, 2009, Gaston Leroux’s birthday. This is a great way to show off your writing skills and win lots of goodies! So sharpen those quills and start culling your words.
Also... I just did a post there on the role of the passive-aggressive in Leroux's Phantom! Enjoy!

 | 09:18 am - Wanking on repeated themes in POTO. Help me out guys! I have not wanked myself in a long time over here... but Webber is providing such fodder for me. I read about Raould being a drunk in Love Never Dies and in reading many of your wanks I see repeated ideas. I will be doing research on such repeated themes and crafting blogs on them for my readers and for articles within the Romance Writers of America. The two primary ones I see (and I did an opening blog on this today at http://jenniferlinforth.blogspot.com and my Myspace ) is the drunk Raoul and the Erik and Christine love child.

 | 06:21 pm - Three things Hi, new here - but I just had to share this with you guys and see the reactions to it. I realize that earlier there was an image that almost seemed to be a certain president with a mask, but there actually is a book with a very, very special cover on it. When did I miss the news stories about him lurking through opera houses and stealing Roule's ingenious planes?
I also have two questions for Phanwank! What Phantom of the Opera books out there are particularly wankable? This account is actually going to be where I write extensive reviews for a lot of Phantom of the Opera books (and movies) out there among other things, and I'm currently working on reviews for Sadie Montgomery's quartet of sap.
The second question is...I'm noticing that in every Phantom of the Opera novel that doesn't feature Erik/Christine as the pairing of choice, Christine has to be portrayed as someone who isn't a worthwhile human being. Is that in every novel I have yet to have the "pleasure" of reading, or are there books (or even great fanfiction that isn't published) that doesn't do that? It's getting to the point where I think one of my notes when I review these things is going to be "Christine is an evil biatch."

Sometimes I wish I wasn't what I was! Why doesn't anybody give me a chance to explain myself? I was born this way and there is nothing I can do to change it. >_< It's sad. Really sad. But anyway, just uh... Just read what you think you might like, but please, I don't need more flames and I don't need more damage then I have already suffered... XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX If I may quote a friend here, and I hope she will forgive me for posting this up without asking, but it's such a beautiful thing she typed and I can't stop looking at it because it speaks of a certain truth that lives in everything, even though it points to something else. But then again, I just know, that somehow my live will end with these words, in hope of forgivness and redemption from the past, looking only to a brighter future, and a better world than we know today: She should be a speech-writer for Obama. Srsly. "The story of the Phantom of the Opera still lives on within the walls of the Opera Populaire of Paris. It changed and grew as time went on, just as Comte Chalifoux who? had said it would. It was handed down as legend at first… then it was cast off as superstition, the product of the over-imaginative minds of the girls in the Corps du Ballet. For the people of Paris, the Opera Ghost was just another great fairy tale – a story to tell one’s children at night, to pass on like a lie to spread like a fire. But sometimes, when one enters the lower cellars of the theatre, in that deathly silence and dark, the ghostly whisper of an old love HATE. OBSESSIVE HATE. story can still be heard in the cold air…" And that, my friends, seems true enough for me. Shouldn't it be true enough for you, too? Wait, what do you MEAN you have two brain cells to knock together? </div> Hopefully I'll have some better wank next time, though you can't go wrong with a classic.

 | 05:33 pm - Now I've gone from being amused by the awfulness of this phic to genuinely hating it Today in chapter three of Who He Never Knew, a new charecter is introduced to the indignation of this wanker, and nothing continues to happen.
Also, it's kind of obvious that in a few places I just got bored and replaced random words with 'panties'. What the hell, it's been a busy day. ( Who's your chicken daddy? ) Current Mood: aggravated Current Music: Forever Yours-Within Temptation

I did a Netflix search on "Phantom of the Opera," and one of the available titles was this gem--it may sound familiar to you, but you'll see at the end that it's not the movie you're thinking of.
The Phantom of the Opera (1989) R An emotionally and physically scarred man known as the "Phantom" (Robert Englund) -- once an enormously talented composer -- haunts an opera house in search of a maiden he can groom to be a diva. Once he identifies his protege (Jill Schoelen), he kidnaps her and takes her on a journey of revenge back to 1885 London, where he plans to unleash his new creation in this gory film version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical.
I really wish I could see that movie. Current Mood: amused Current Music: The Office

 | 07:29 pm - I'm about to get really pissed about those single-sentence paragraphs... Today in http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4935936/3/Who_He_Never_Knew , Erik and Meg's lengthly, probing discussion reveals absolutely nothing.
( Adventure ho? ) ( Okay...ass end of cut failed...meh... )</div> EDIT: Okay, so...that? *points above* Have tried unsuccessfully to fix it three times, so I just say screw it. I do not get why every other post of mine has something go horribly wrong for unknown reasons. Maybe God doesn't want me to mock his less inteligent creatures. Well, it never does well to allow oneself to be pushed around by bullies, so I say 'Screw you, God!' So there. Current Mood: sleepy Current Music: Vai vedrai-Cirque du Soleil 'Alegria'

 | 07:35 pm - Are there no depths to which this thing won't sink? I found this in an IMDB thread through a link on the sequel's wikipedia page. This, apparently, is Meg's casting information:
Meg: Caucasian woman, mid - late 20s. Madame Giry's daughter and a Coney Island fairground star. Gothic, mystical, unusual, sweet, charming, fun; has a broken baby-doll vulnerability, edge, sexiness, and a heart of steel. Strong mezzo soprano singing voice. A spunky voice, preferably with a raspy quality, up to top F sharp (top line, treble clef). Must be able to belt as well as sing with a lyrical ability when in balladic mode.
For my two cents, I just have to say that this whole sequel debacle just became personal. NOW THAT DREADFUL LITTLE MAN HAS GONE AFTER MY MEG.
The feeling of E/M dread I've had since it was announced that she went with Erik to Coney Island just notched up by about twenty points. Between this and the names of the three narrators, I'm really, really starting to feel like this will be the Titus Alone of the phandom: weird as hell, nightmarish, and completely disjointed from its original material.
