My kitty's nose/ears/paws are always really warm. Everyday since she came home.
She's only 3 months old.
Is it normal for her to be so warm? It's supposed to indicate fever but I don't think she would always have a fever..?
Besides, she never seems to feel ill or anything..
What do you think? =)
Thanks <3

Subject:products/tips for senior cats with arthritis? (x-posted like a mofo)
Security:Public

Hey everybody!  I have a 13 y.o. cat (he'll be 14 in July) who has had arthritis in his hips for the past couple of years.  I used to think it was just weight slowing him down, but x-rays last year confirmed it's some bad arthritis.  It didn't affect too terribly much, but I still put him on a diet and started putting a chair next to my bed to help him get up there.  A couple of weeks ago I noticed that the slowness, semi-limping has gotten worse.  It's gotten so bad just in the past few days alone that he has begun stumbling whenever he walks on a hard floor (the kitchen, bathroom, etc.).  I don't know if it's just age catching up or my semi-new 3 y.o. cat I adopted n February (he's a little bigger and likes to wrestle around a lot).  I am taking my older cat to see the vet on Friday, but I like to do a lot of research on products before purchasing them, so I was wondering if anyone has any particular supplements or medications (or any other tips) that seem to do well for his or her cat, please let me know.  If there's anything I should ask my vet about, I want to know.  Healthcare for pets is pretty costly and I want to make sure I've done right by my boy and not wasted time and money on something that won't help him.  Thank you for your help!

I'm buying a dog, my first pet. I've never had any animals at home, because of my mother...but it's a long story. Now I'm reading some books like "How to be friends with your pet" or "Dog's training" but I'm a little bit worried whether I'll manage to be a good dog's owner, a real friend of my dog. Can you give me some advice?

Have you noticed that we admire the beauty of animals much more than human? (And note, they don't do make-up and silicone!) Many people like newborns, but puppies and kittens love all!
So we couldn't get past the charm of animals too and started to make... pet portraits by airbrush technique!

So who is interested to get portrait of his fluffy/toothy one (or portrait of himself with a pet) - give me a note ;)

My name is Liz, and I have been an animal lover all my life.

I currently have a Pharaoh Hound named Bowie, two indoor cats named Dear Prudence (in my avatar) and Mr. Kite, and an indoor/outdoor cat, Yoko, who just had three kittens.

My boyfriend owns and manages a holistic pet store in San Francisco, so I have a large knowledge base in terms of all-natural, environmentally sound pet products, food, training techniques, etc.

I'm excited to expand my blogging into a realm of people who actually care about my pet-related ramblings. Greetings, fellow pet lovers. =)

I am being held hostage by an abandonned cat! A few nights ago I heard a cat howling and opened my apartment door. Before I know it a cat runs in and scars the bejesus out of my cat and me. She has been here three days, will not eat, will not let me get near her and will not use a littler pan.

I called my landlord and she said someone abandonned the cat when they moved (insert various bad names here), but I can't keep the poor thing. All our local no kill shelters are full up and I'm afraid I'll be taking her to the ASPCA tomorrow if I can't find her a home. No one will take her, though, if she continues to be this, uh, evil... I don't even know where to start, but I have no idea what to do. I did temporarily sedate her with cat nip, but other than that she has been absolutely terrible. I'm sure she's traumatized, but I can't take having this cat in my apartment right now.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

My cat Tag just passed away... She started losing a lot of weight, and then stopped eating and drinking. After a while she just slept in my mom's luggage, but when she kept falling over when she tried to walk... and eventually couldn't even get up to use the litter, my dad had to put her to sleep.

These are her last pictures...

Subject:Revamped Animal Welfare/Resource Blog!
Security:Public

I started a blog to connect pet owners and animal lovers alike with animals in need and promote general animal news, advice, stories, etc. I now have a new, shiny place to call home, which is why I'm telling you about this again.

I run a blog called A Furry Friend. It's dedicated to highlighting animals in need and to keep people informed on general animals news, stories, and events! I have helped many dogs and other animals through my blog, but it's also just a place for pet owners to come to get helpful tips, hints, advice, and more.
I invite anyone to please submit any animals, stories, or events they'd like me to feature. You can contact me with information at afurryfriend@gmail.com.
If you know of an animal (or any other animal) that is in immediate need of a rescue, adoption, foster, transportation, etc., please contact me as well!

I also have links to several animal rescue/welfare resources I've compiled, including:

  • Rescue transportation services
  • Shelter/rescue directories
  • General animal welfare/rescue resources
  • A guide on how to report and stop internet animal abuse
  • A guide on how to help both domestic & wild animals in need
  • A guide to prepare your own animal rescue kit
These resources can be found by going to my blog and clicking on any of links under "A Furry Friend Resources" on the left-hand side.

I'd really like for everyone to come check out both my pages and pass them on to your friends!

We finally figured it out! The snuggly warm dog hat and scarf is finally here! After some long, hard, tedious work, we finally got them past production! We made them in 3 sizes, XS, SM, M/L. We're also almost done with the slotted hats for the ears to poke out of. I'll post images of those when they're finally ready as well!

Thanks everyone for all the feedback and suggestions! You flippin' ROCK!

(modeled by Stewie & Lucy wearing the size M/L)
