This is from Bruno and Brody's puppy days, but I love this picture. To bad they won't fit in that little car anymore haha, I had to upgrade to a truck!Current Mood: amused

On our trip from Philadelphia, PA to Columbus, OH to meet and adopt Probert (so, a few years ago!), Maizy and Wrigley had to wait in the car while I ran into a store. This is what I found waiting for me when I came back.

Suggestions for next week? Water Bullies, Irrita-bulls (pictures of your dogs being harassed or looking harassed?)

Hi everyone. So as you might remember, I'm the person who has been wanting to get a 10-month old dog with an older cranky dog in the house. Before you all get snippy, I devised a plan where I could get the puppy and keep the two dogs TOTALLY separate (a modified crate and rotate) so that my older dog can still roam around and not be bothered by a puppy and my puppy won't learn her aggressive behavior.
I figured that was all good until my parents told me they thought that keeping them separate was mean and that we should let them "work it out". I really needed them to agree with me on this because I am physically disabled and will need them to listen to me when I tell them to put the puppy in his crate, or to take the older dog outside etc. So I'm seriously considering not adopting him because I don't want him to learn aggressive behavior or cause the older dog to be on guard all the time. My parents know that the older dog is aggressive but they don't see it as I do and they don't understand the risks that this poses on the puppy.
So I was wondering if anyone knew of some articles I could share with them on how dogs can learn aggression from models or how one big fight can permanently change their personality. Like I said, I am probably not going to get him, but I want my parents to understand why letting two dogs "work it out" is not a good idea (particularly when one of those dogs is a puppy). And maybe they would be more inclined to listen if they saw it in an article rather than just me insisting that its true. If you have any personal stories about learning aggression, that would be cool too. Thanks. Eva |

She loves to sit here and give me pathetic looks to let her outside.

Sadly, if momma can't slather her up in sunscreen and monitor what she's doin out there... all she gets is raised blinds and a treat. lol

Sorry the picture is so small. I love this picture because of his reflection in the window.

He loved our old house, he lived to watch cars go down the road all day. Now we live on a dead end street and his life is meaningless.

Just some food for thought...
One of the arguments we've been using in Indy against BSL is that it's difficult if not impossible to determine a dog's breed based on physical characteristics alone.
For example, we have pictures of a lab mix that looks very similar to a pit bull but isn't.
Yet, I keep puzzling over and responding to the breed id posts here, and I've been trying to figure out for years what my mutt is... was listed as doberman/beagle but who the heck knows.
One of the other gals I know has stopped identifying her dog altogether... she says "he's a neutered dog".
Just curious what you all think about this dichotomy? |

I had a hard time picking just one photo, but I think this is probably the best one.

I've got a weird dog related question. A lot of you seem to have nice yards...and dogs, lots of dogs. How does that work? I used to have flowers, grass, and plants, but between my lack of a green thumb and dogs, I only have weeds and dirt left. Some of the heartier flowers that survived, my newer dog, Oscar, likes to flump down in and they have now been crushed and probably won't come back. I don't want a great yard, but green would be nice. I am not a huge fan of grass, but some kind of ground covering would be good. Any suggestions?Current Mood: curious Current Music: Grinderman

I have a new foster dog and they call him a lab mix at spca shelter. His name is Fly. I wanted to know what you guys think he has in him? I just got him yesterday to foster and he was brought in as a stray and has been at the shelter for a year just like my previous foster Buck. He is such a sweet dog who loves people and other dogs. He plays well with my dogs Major and Axel who are shepherds. I took him to work today at the doggie daycare and he did great! He loves playing with all the dogs and everyone loves him and thinks he's so cute. I love him already, he's just a fun little guy. :)
Anyway here are some pics of Fly from yesterday. Their not the best and sorry for parts of my yard looking like crap, were having the house and yard fixed up to look better. It was my grandma's house. I'll get better pictures soon.
What breed mix do you think FLY is?
