MY darling French BUlldog, Stitch, passed away suddenly last night. HE had an undetectable brain infection which hemmoraged and caused sudden paralysis and caused a heart attack. HE would have been 2years old in December.
Jon and I are a mess, as you can imagine and even Delilah, (our pit), knows something is wrong and she has been moping around the house too.
I plan to love again (lol) but Im going through the grieving process first. |

This isn't the most fun post I've ever made here. In fact, it's been a while since I was around here, but hopefully some of you remember Wrigley:

He was diagnosed with lymphosarcoma this week, after a long stretch of confusing biopsies, ultrasounds, and finally surgery to remove the tumor in his neck causing the concern. Here's what I posted in my journal about it:
"We got the results of Wrigley's tumor pathology investigation yesterday. He has a form of cancer called lymphosarcoma, which is highly metastasic and terminal. He had active malignant tumors in his neck and in his right tonsil, so it's already begun to spread. Since he's not otherwise symptomatic yet, he will likely be able to fight it off a little longer, but this will be his last Christmas; his vet says to expect 4-6 months, maybe more if it's a miracle, quite possibly less. She says that there comes a point where they start to really show symptoms, and it will progress very fast after that, but she also reassured me he won't be in pain; as she put it, "he'll just lose energy and appetite, and eventually just not really want to get up anymore, and that's when..."
So that's when. Right now he's happy as can be, not a clue anything is wrong, about to get spoiled rotten for Thanksgiving and Christmas and get some serious love while we still have 'em here to cuddle. I'm heartbroken, I think understandably; I've never experienced the death of anything I've been so emotionally attached to, so this is going to be a rough time. I'm so thankful to have Alex with me and for all the support of everyone who's already found out. I can't imagine my life without this big dumb dog, but I guess we all have to find our way out of this world at some point."
Have any of you lost a dog to this cancer before? Can anyone give me any more insight into how the disease progresses? We talked about chemo, etc but Wrigs is already getting old, and he's dog aggressive so vet visits are extremely stressful for us, and with the sky-high price tag - on top of $3k in vet visits and surgery already for this - I think we're going to say no to the $5k attempt to give him an extra year and give him the best few months we possibly can now.
(As you can imagine, this isn't an easy time for me, and I know heroic measures for companion animals is a hot topic, and rest assured any attacks over my decision not to pursue chemo for him (and I know they'll come, you crazy wonderful dog-loving people who sometimes step over the line that you are) will not be well-tolerated.)
Any insight, experiences, anything to make me feel a little less alone and heartbroken would be hugely appreciated. Thanks, guys. I still read the comm every day even if I don't post much anymore. |

Luke and Chewie from Merissa Kreidler on Vimeo.
The first dog is our boy, Luke, being shown by his professional handler. The second is our puppy, Chewie, being shown (and acting like a complete puppy!) by skreidle. I would normally be the one in the ring with the puppy (and usually can get him to behave a little better--I had to cut out the part of the video where he actually tried to crawl into the judges arms for a nice deep kiss*), but my left arm is in a cast for a few more weeks.
Also, while it wasn't us, the amstaff that won breed that day went on to win third in the Terrier Group. This means the amstaffs will get some airtime on NBC on Thanksgiving--which is fantastic for the breed! So if you get a chance, watch it, and cheer really loudly when Goody struts her stuff on national television. =D Her owner is a dear friend of mine, which makes it all the cooler for us.
*Chewie is nothing if not excessively and delightfully affectionate. =) |

Hi. *waves* I almost NEVER get to post here because I don't have a bully breed dog, but I met a lovely dog yesterday and took a couple pictures of her so I wanted to share.
I was doing a transport for a couple Aussie puppies and got out of the car to see this adorable pit bull in a puffy pink coat. I asked if I could come pet her and the owner was happy to have me do so. The poor girl (I wish I could remember her name!) had been dumped off at a shelter, very pregnant. She had her puppies and they were recently weaned and this woman adopted the dog. She just had such a great personality. She was awesome with the puppies and just wanted to stick her face in mine. Not a big kisser but wanted to come over and just touch your face with her nose. I just adored her! (BTW, the coat makes her look much bigger than she is...it was pretty bulky).
