Have to find three kitties a new home [Dec. 16th, 2007|09:11 pm]

Edit:...anybody? I'm on a time crunch now. I found a place this morning and found that they do allow cats, after all, but the catch is the cats have to be declawed. I'm not willing to hack off my boys' toes, thanks. But I've got to figure something out by the end of THIS WEEK.

Well, on two separate occasions I found myself facing the prospect of having to give up my kitties, only to dodge the bullet. This time, it seems, there's no dodging. I have to find a new apartment and that means I have to give up my guys. I would very much prefer NOT to split them up, and I would also prefer to avoid taking them to the shelter. It's no-kill, but the conditions at the shelter have deteriorated considerably lately with some changes made by the shelter's board. It's hugely overcrowded and nearly all of the cats have chronic colds.

I would like to say that this would be a temporary thing, that if someone would kindly take them for a couple or three months, I would relieve them of the burden of three cats as soon as I got settled. But that is not likely to be the case and so I'm hoping to find someone willing to give them a permanent home.

Please be aware that I would only too eagerly pay a (small, but adequate) fee to keep them in food and litter.

The main problem, though, is that I live in southwest Montana, which may well be far out of the range of anyone otherwise willing to adopt my kitties.

My mother lives in Nashville, Tennessee, and found two healthy pups (about three months old) out by her house. She's already checked the neighborhood, and no one's claimed them, and a) she absolutely refused to take them to the pound and b) can't take care of them herself since she's already got two dogs. They are housebroken (they haven't messed in the house, at least) and are well-behaved and friendly with people and other dogs. She really doesn't want to split them up, and she's going to be taking them tomorrow to get checked up on and see if they have been microchipped.

If they haven't been microchipped, they need a home. If anyone is in the area or knows someone who can take them in or wants more information about them, please drop me a line at star_dancer54 @ hotmail . com

[mood | sad]

hi,

i'm desperately in need of a foster home for my cat for three to six months. i've had some serious health problems and have to be out of my apt in one week. i will be staying with a friend while i convalesce from a tonsillectomy and orthopedic (leg) surgery and am being treated for an unrelated head trauma.

i can't have my cat with me because my friend has a vicious cat, and it's a studio apt. my disability income (when it starts) is $339/month so i can't pay anyone aside from buying litter/food. i've had him since he was five weeks, and he's now sixteen. he's FIV+, thus indoor, and must be an only cat.

he's healthy otherwise, and very active- more like a cat half his age. he's also very affectionate, my guy in no way resembles the stereotypical aloof kitty. he spoons under the covers with me when i (we) sleep- imagining being separated from him even short-term is breaking my heart, but there is only one other alternative at this point and that's simply not on.

i'm in seattle, if there is anyone who can offer any kind of help or advice i would be so very grateful. {i'm not in a heap of self-pity, or looking for sympathy, i hope it doesn't sound that way, i just wanted to explain the situation)

thanks.

Dayton, OH, male kitten, help needed [Nov. 18th, 2007|08:43 pm]

From a friend who needs help:

I don't have a public LJ (I know, I know, I need to get one and I'm going to today) but I have something that needs to be posted to the pet rescue list.

Tonight I took in a tiny grey male tabby with tiger markings, but my building doesn't allow pets and I can't keep him because I'm already hiding one cat. It's going to be a hard freeze tonight and the little guy is nothing but skin and bones, I couldn't let him freeze to death. There isn't an opening in a no-kill shelter in this area.

He's an unaltered male under 1 year of age, short haired, from what I can tell he's socialized, I don't think he's had any of his shots yet and I don't know if he will do well with other cats or dogs. He eats like a bottomless pit, right now we only had canned and dry adult food and he really needs to bulk up on some kitten chow. I don't know if he's litter trained, I guess we'll find out tonight when he wakes up. He's friendly, affectionate, mouthy, loud, and bossy. So far he answers to Hiro (hubby is a huge Heroes fan) but I call him Babycakes.

We're looking for someone who can adopt him or foster him while they look for someone to adopt him. We're in the Dayton, OH area and we're willing to drive out as far as Xenia. We insist on handing him off in a public place for security reasons (a Wal-Mart parking lot is good), and whomever we give him to will probably need a carrier because we don't have an extra. Almost any day of the week before about 1 pm is good for us to make a trip.

Don't give out this email address, interested parties can get in touch with my husband at rstlss1@gmail.com
