A person who supplements a vegetarian diet with fish, shellfish or crustacea, but does not consume meat, game, or poultry.
Are you someone who has a mainly vegetarian lifestyle, yet allow seafood in your diet? If you are, then this community is for you! If you're an aspiring full vegetarian and haven't quite made the complete leap, yet have already cut out red meats and poultry in your diet, then come join us!
Don't try too hard to explain your choice in becoming pescetarian! Don't "feel bad" that you still eat meat --- seafood --- with your mainly vegetarian diet. Everyone has their own dietary choices and if you respect other people's choices, whether they are vegetarian, vegan, meat-eaters and what have you, then why shouldn't you also support your own choice of being a pescetarian? :)
You're also welcome to join if you're curious or just want to know what it's like being a pescetarian. Don't be shy! The idea of making a LJ community for pescetarians has been a long time coming. I was a lurker in several vegetarian LJ communities for the longest time, but often felt out of place because although people were very nice in those communities, I dare not bring up questions that I had when it came to the preference of diet in veggies and fish; I was afraid because in some instances, people who brought up the subject of having a mainly vegetarian diet but also supplemented it with fish were flamed or caused a heated thread of debate in those posts. So I thought, why not make a comm that's specifically targeted for people with pescetarian diet preferences?
