| About: | Hey! This community is for anyone who's ever been part of the great People to People organization, future ambassadors, even leaders. Please use this community to post about your trips, ask previous ambassadors questions, meet other people involved with PtPI, or just to learn more about who we are and what we do! Anyone is welcome to join!
There is only one rule, and it is very important: Whenever you post anything, please be courteous and tolerant toward everyone in the community. We can't run a working People to People community without remembering that tolerance is one of our organization's main goals! Please, if you cannot obey this rule then you will be asked to leave, and no one wants that! So if you can't think of anything nice to say, don't say anything!
If you have any questions, feel free to post a message, but please remember to check the memories first! We also use tags for our posts, so you can search by tags to see if someone has posted a relavant message before. ABOUT US:
People to People International is a voluntary effort of private citizens promoting international understanding through direct people-to-people contacts. PTPI is a private sector, not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri USA.
Our Mission:
The purpose of People to People International is to enhance international understanding and friendship through educational, cultural and humanitarian activities involving the exchange of ideas and experiences directly among peoples of different countries and diverse cultures. It will cooperate with any and all other organizations which are of similar nature and purpose.
People to People International is dedicated to enhancing cross-cultural communication within each community, and across communities and nations. Tolerance and mutual understanding are central themes. While not a partisan or political institution, PTPI supports the basic values and goals of its founder, President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Our Beliefs:
1. We believe that greater understanding between individuals and peoples, worldwide, reveals universal values and aspirations.
2. We believe international educational and cultural exchange among youth further ensures long-term friendship and understanding.
3. We believe we all benefit from sharing different approaches to solving common problems.
4. We believe that individuals can often be more effective than governments in promoting human relationships and world peace.
5. We believe if people can better understand other cultures, they are more tolerant and accepting of differences.
6. We believe that citizens of all countries need personal contacts with other peoples and cultures. We need to ensure the enduring legacy of People to People International.
7. We believe that People to People is fun! We believe in people!
