Hey, i just got an invitation to take the Italy and Greece Trip (high school) for the summer of 2009. Does anyone know about how much it would cost? Oh, and any fundraising ideas would greatly be appreciated!

Hi! I'm Nicole. I just got accepted into going to Australia this summer. :]
For those of you who went there, how did you like it? Any memorable events? I'm really excited to go, and I've always wanted to go to Australia.
Also, I have to raise the money by myself. Are there scholarships available? I'm also going to try to raise money by writing letters. Is it best to ask for any amount, or ask for atleast $1? I'm also going to add in it, if you cannot pay, please pass this on to a friend, family member, neighbor.. Do people actually make a lot this way?
Sorry about the questions. I'm just curious. :) |

Umkay. I have to know. I'm getting mixed messages on this thing. It's expensive, but worth it, it's fun, but not for you, etc. Concern One: Time to look around. Do we have any, or are we herded about like cattle? Concern Two: Food. I'm rather finicky, though I have found I like the junk food and candy that gets here from Japan. Is there sometimes a choice, or are you stuck everytime? Concern Three: Rest. I have stamina, but not for two weeks straight. Any relaxing time?
I'd really like any answers you have. My interview's a week from now, but I don't trust asking 'salesmen' questions. BTW: It's gonna cost like, 7k. Fundraising ideas? |

Okay, so I just got back from Australia. Despite a few things (crazy leaders, anyone?) it was truly the best time of my life. I miss it so much and would give anything to be back in the Outback or anywhere in Australia really. But that's not the point...
I'm considering doing another trip next year, if the itinerary is good and the leaders seem normal...all that jazz. My DM (who was the greatest person ever!) and a few alumni on the trip said that you get to do something called "alumni choice" where you choose the next itinerary. Can someone explain this? Will I get to do any itinerary P2P offers that I want? (I already have quite a few that I like A LOT!)
Thanks so much! |

I'm in a really unfortunate position. I don't really feel like going into detail, but it looks like I'm going to have to pull out of the trip that I was really looking forward to going on this summer.
At this point, how much money am I going to lose? Anybody know?
Just felt like posting, and seeing how much I'm going to have to pay back to my dad. This sucks. :( |

| | Spill Canvas | ] | I'm new here so...
I've traveled twice with P2P once between 7th-8th grade and another between 8th-9th grade. The first time I went to Australia, the next time to Europe (France, Austria, Switzerland and Italy).
Today, I received a letter in the mail about a new trip that was offered to "honored alumni" only. It's called Imperial Capitals of Europe. For me, the trip departure date is July 3-5 and the application has to be turned in on Feb 15. The trip sounds really exciting however, my last two trips were paid mostly by my parents. The first one entirely the second one I raised about 1,000 dollars by mailing letters to businesses (this was the one way they suggested at meetings)
I don't have a job but I am going to be getting one, I turned 16 not so long ago and was waiting for basketball/cheerleading season to finish which the season ends in 3 weeks but State for the girls doesn't end until March 10th and March 17th for the boys. My school won state for girls and was 5th for boys last year. So until then I can't dedicate all of my time to it. I looked up state law and found that I could 26 weeks for schools weeks and 50 non-school weeks. I figured I could raise about 5,000 or so dollars by working. I'm still 700 plus spending money and extra things short. So anything you have tried to funding would be really helpful.
To summarize:
If you funded for your trip how did you do so; I'm going to try to raise about 1,500? Have you received any news about this Alumni Trip? |

Hello all!
Okay, so i was a member of this group way back when I got my first invitation to P2P. I asked a couple of questions and what not, but i never actually did take the trip. Instead I opted to go to Europe with another company.
But anyways, I've gotten my fair share of invitations to P2P. I've been invited to the Australian trip, two European trips (can't remember which ones off the top of my head at the moment) and one Sports Ambassador program as well. But I've looked into it and I'm more interested in their GYF Humanitarian Conference or the PTPI's Peace Camps.
I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these programs and could tell me a little about them seeing as their website doesn't give much information. Anything you could tell me would be wonderful.
Thank you muchos! :] |

[Nov. 29th, 2006|01:26 pm] |
I'm currently a permanent resident/legal alien. I just found out that I would need 4 visas (for each country I'll be visiting for the P2P trip) if I don't have a US Passport (I have a Philippine passport). Is that true?
Is it also true that acquiring a US Passport is a long process? My mom is in the process of getting her US citizenship and I don't know how long that will take.
I really want to go. :( |

If anyone here has ever switched delegations on their own accord, what did you do about the required pre-travel meetings?
I switched from my delegation in NJ to another in MD, as a matter of interest. That is about three hours away from me, and I got the impression that there was something I could do to make up for the meetings, but my delegation leader (I've been in contact with her via email and soon phone) hasn't made any indication of this. I know my dad doesn't really want to drive me to and from Baltimore, totalling about six hours, every month, and I probably wouldn't have switched had I known that there was nothing else I could do. So I figured I would come here and ask if any of you had worked out solutions before.
Thanks! |

| Newbie going on an European Adventure/Discovery |
[Oct. 24th, 2006|04:32 pm] |
I have been invited before to go to a British and Irish Heritige trip but I did not respond to it as we had other financial priorities. But again, I've just been recently invited to embark on a 20-day European Adventure/Discovery! (France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy.) My local info' meeting will be on the 18th of next month. I am so excited. The only thing that's going to stop me, well, my parents also, from going is the price. Does anyone know the estimated price for this trip? I live in the island of O'ahu, Hawaii if that makes any difference on the price. Lastly, to all of those who went on that trip, how was it? Details are appreciated.
Edit: LASTLAST questions:
1. Pocket money. How much should I bring in dollars? In foreign currencies? Where would I go for currency exchange (or however you call it)? How would I go about using a debit/credit card and the like when buying stuff internationally? I'm gonna have to buy a lot because of souvenirs (perhaps from each country) and other, ahem, essential stuff in France and Italy only a fashonista would understand. (Designer stuff is out of the question as you can easily buy it cheaper here in the US.)
2. How often do you get to call your family/friends back home?
3. Are you able to choose a fellow ambassador to come with you during homestays? Or is it totally random?
4. How's the airplane trip? I'm assuming that we will be put in coach/economy class, right?
That's it.. for now. |

Hey guys! I went to a People to People meeting this week, and am really excited about the chance to possibly go on a trip this coming summer. I was invited to South Pacific Island Adventure (Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji), but during my Information meeting, they mentioned that you could switch delegations and choose a different location if you really wished to go someplace else. I was rushed out of the meeting before I got a chance to ask a question about this, so I was thinking I could possibly get an answer here. How might one go about switching their delegation?
The trips I'd like to go on over the one I was invited to are Exploring Europe (England, France, and Italy), European Odyssey (France, Italy, and Greece), and Exploring Western Europe (Ireland, Wales, England, France, Belgium, and Holland). I think I've basically narrowed it down to the first two if there's a delegation relatively close, but the third also sounds really interesting to me so I would gladly go on that if there's not another sort of close. Hey, I'd even go on the one I was invited to, but my parents say we should try switching if I'm more interested in something else.
The problem is that I can't decide between the first two. I like the first for England and the second for Greece. I'm just not sure, haha. Anyone have anything to say about either of those trips that might help, positive or negative? =)
Thanks! |

Well...I went to the info meeting for Paris to Casablanca yesterday, too bad it didn't help me resolve where I would like to go this summer on Ptp. ^^'
My mom seemed really interested in it but the only thing that appeals to me about the trip is the portion when we'd be in Morocco. (Africa yo!)
So I came here for some help. ^^'
- It seems like a lot of people have been on trips to Australia (All of the alumni at the meeting yesterday went last year...which I found strange. But someone metioned that there were 3 delegations in my area this year, so that makes me think that it may have been the same last year) Anyways...I was wondering which of the Australia/New Zealand trips others have been on? (And which one I may want to choose...since there's so many of them! XD)
- I kinda wanted to go to China but have thought better of it. I just went to Japan this year and don't really want to go to Asia again so soon. ^^' I kinda thought about going in Summer of 2008 (my senior year) but others put that down because...well...who would want to go in Summer of 2008? (Olympics anyone?)
- I've heard some people downing programs in Europe (that may be why I'm a little apprehensive for the trip I've been invited to) but are there any someone would really recommend?
I know this is probably a lot of questions but I really want to make sure that this is a trip I really want to go on this year. Thanks for all of the help. ^^
PS. Quick question...On your trips did you eat at the Hard Rock Cafe? I ate at the one in Tokyo and then they metioned eating at the one's in Paris and Portugal at the meeting. I just found it kind of funny. XD |

| | "Song for the Unloved" - Backstreet Boys | ] | I started to see people post about the invites that they had received and I wondered when I'd get mine! XD I then just got it today! Hooray!
This is my second year with People to People and while I didn't enjoy the group I was with last year I really enjoyed the place I visited. (Japan: Land of the Rising Sun, ask me about it!) I'm thinking of going again this year (if we can afford it again! XD).
I've been invited to the Paris to Casablanca itinerary. I'll go to the info meeting but because I am an alumni I have a choice to where I want to go.
So basicly...
1) I'm asking who here's been on the Paris to Casablanca trip and what they can tell me about it. :) (Was it fun? What all did you do?)
2) Should I go on another trip? If so, which one? How do I go about doing that anyway?
3) I saw on the People to People site that there was an Alumni only-trip to Berlin to St. Petersburg: Imperial Capitals of Europe. There hasn't been a trip to Russia in forver and thought it might be a one time only thing. Should I go here? or Does it seem to serious and not very fun? (Then again...it does say 6-12 grade...that would mean I'd be with middle schoolers too. XP) |
