Introduction
Name: Dani
Age: 22.
Birthday: 14th June
Gender: Female.
Orientation: Asexual
Location: Living in Reading, England, but London is home.
Occupation: Barmaid in a local little Irish pub (for now!)
Languages: English. Passable German but no where near fluent.
Tattoos/Piercings: Only one in each ear and nothing else planned.
Relationship Status: Single
Religion: Something like a Pagan. I’m a very spiritual person and believe in energies and demons, the power of gemstones, card and palm reading, dreams, elements, star signs, etc. Mostly though, I believe in having faith in the people around me and in myself.
About me: I attempt to lead a normal life but it just doesn’t work out that way! I work in a pub which consistently provides both trauma and entertainment. The Irish of the town seem to have adopted me which is wonderful if vaguely worrying. I am very much in two minds about everything – I am a Gemini after all! I am fiercely loyal and dedicated to my family and would do quite literally anything for them – even drop out of uni in my final year to support my Great Aunt (the head of my family) through brain cancer and my Mum through several miscarriages and her current pregnancy. I am trying to get out of barwork but the recession isn’t exactly helping with that.
Interests: When I’m not working I can be found feeding my terrible clothing addiction (I have four very full wardrobes already. Oops!), performing “science” in my kitchen attempting to cook, playing agony aunt for my crazy German drama-llama best friend, telling my lovely little housemate another wacky tale from the bar, cleaning up after my loopy Viking neighbour, watching TV, gaming with the coolest people I know, bouncing about to a bit of ooooold school rock, practicing my cross stitch and origami or, naturally, having a drink in one of my many locals!
Music: Oh I hate this bit because just writing “Rock, Classical, Stuff with singing, etc” really doesn’t give much of an idea to anyone. Examples, examples... ok! I like Tom Waits and Jason Isaacs at the moment. I’ve just got back into classical music too (there is this wonderful album that sounds like monastery music but with saxophones. It’s very peaceful but slightly mournful too). I do like my classic and glam rock – Poisen, ACDC, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, etc but I’m not an avid fan of any of them. I pick and choose at random what to listen to. I grew up in the 90’s so I still have a soft, squashy and extremely embarrassing fondness for pop music. And Lostprophets and Nickleback. I grew up with Eric Clapton, Dr Hook, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Tracy Chapman and The Beautiful South with my mum and my dad sings in musicals.
Movies: Now I will generalise – fantasy, drama, musicals and comedy. Mary Poppins is probably my all time favourite film as it contains all of them! I can’t watch horror movies. I have extremely graphic dreams and nightmares and any form of horror only adds fuel to the trauma of a bad dream.
Books: My favourite fiction author is by far Terry Pratchett. I’m currently trying to slog my way through Virginia Andrews Flowers in the Attic series as the drama-llama is forcing me to read it so she can discuss it with someone. The rest of it is random stuff that caught my eye in the second hand book shop. Non-fiction, I read a lot of history (my poor abandoned degree was in Ancient History). I’m currently reading The Brief History Of The Human Race.
Television: I’m following Supernatural, Gossip Girl, Flash Forward, Cougar Town, America’s Next Top Model, Merlin, Dollhouse, Eastwick and The Vampire Diaries. As far as old favourites go, Buffy, Veronica Mars, Dr. Who, QI, I could go on forever.
Penpal Info:
How many penpals do you have? One (or two if you include my Dad)
How many do you want? 3-5
Do you want email pals? Not particularly
Do you want snail-mail pals? Yes please
How long are your letters? Anything from a dozen words to an essay. As you can see, I tangent like crazy and ramble away quite happily for hours. I’ve also sent a letter to one of my sisters that was written on an incomplete folded origami piece that I was having difficulty with, with “THIS IS A BAD DRAGON” scrawled across it in big block letters. Thankfully she guessed it was from me and didn’t freak out about it. Much.
How long does it take you to reply to a letter? About a week
Would you like your penpal to be male or female? Not bothered
Age? Around my own
What are you looking for in a penpal? Someone to share life experiences with. A bit of comedy, a bit of drama and a bit of heart. Letters are wonderful for capturing the moment of emotion that they are written in and I love hearing about other people’s lives.
Where would you like them to be from? I’d really like at least one from abroad
