hallo to all of you ♥
i hope your day or night is full of smiles! i am lucky to have found a lovely little book at the army of Salvation just a day ago and i thought right away to share it with you and you and you (the photos are giants, i am so sorry if this hurts your computer)
how beautiful old books are. ones with aching spines and pages worn in with the love they were given. pages that whisper more than the words contain. the magic of knowing that some body else has fallen asleep with those very words dancing in the world behind their eyes
in the front cover of this book, there was a small bit written from a wife, Miss Paula, to her husband with a hope for forever. i wonder as to why it was left to wait for anyone else's shelves. to be brushed off and held close.

Book: Be With You by Takuji Ichikawa

When Takumi's wife suddenly returns from the grave, he can't believe his eyes. How could such a thing be possible? Is she here to stay? Has love miraculously triumphed over death? As Takumi starts looking for answers to these questions, he discovers the secret of his wife's appearance is somehow linked to the past...and the future.

to further extend amazon's description, takumi is a 29 year old man who's wife has passed away the year before. he lives in a small home with his five year old son, yuji. their family life is so endearing. he's a clumsy man who often gets sick but he cares for yuji as best he can. it's been a year since mio has passed away but he still feels the pain deeply. mio was his first and only love. on her deathbed, she tells him she will return to them a year after, during the rainy season. takumi, of course, knows that is not possible but the thought and her words still linger in his mind. takumi and yuji spend their days walking in the woods and talking with nombre and pooh in the park. one day, at the start of the rainy season, mio comes back. she has come back without her memory. the rest of the novel focuses on the time she spends with them and he tells her the story of their love which was the happiest and most beautiful thing to read. you'll discover whether she stays or leaves and why and how she has come back in the first place. the ending is sad but the story as a whole will warm your heart.

i finished this book about a week or so ago and it is now one of my all time favorites. so full of emotion and love and family life. it was beautifully written and heart-breaking and i love every single word of it. this is the type of story that can speak to everyone because it's about love and family and life. takuji ichikawa is a brilliant writer. this book is really popular in japan! i read somewhere that is surpassed norwegian wood by haruki murakami who, at the time, was the best selling book in japan.

I visited a bird sanctuary in Pampanga, a province in the Philippines. It was a former fish pond that they allowed to revert back to its original swamp state. Migratory birds come here to nest. I like how the early morning sun turns the rocks purple.

I am hoping to have a tea party (potentially Alice and Wonderland themed) for my eighteenth birthday coming up. I was hoping to hear suggestions from this community because this style is the exact I want to emulate for my party. Food, decorations, dress, etc! ANY Suggestions appreciated!

I went to see peter and wendy last week at the theatre with ma and i had my very own tiger lily headband. I boo’d at captain hook and we all threw golden rocks at him and laughed until our sides hurt

a simple question. i'm looking for a very delicate appearing, particularly nice tea set. i want a tea pot the cups and saucers, an entire set. i wouldn't mind spending a decent amount on this. $150 price range, perhaps. any suggestions, stores or websites, would be great. thank you!

Hello, I'm Cassie & this is my first post here.

Please come inside my dollhouse! My parents gave it to me on Christmas many years ago.

My mother & I painted it pink, purple, and white. We even wallpapered the inside, which was really difficult. I had two other dollhouses (one yellow & one green). Unfortunately they were too disheveled to keep after I lent them to my 'lil sister.

Inside the ladies are taking tea & cake.

Here is my hodge-podge of tea cups & saucers. They were all my grandmother's or mother's many years ago. On Valentines Day I am hosting a tea-party for my friends & we'll use these cups. I can't wait!

This is my pretty purple pitcher. Alliteration makes you smile, yes?

This is my little clock. The man & woman used to pop out every hour but I broke it 'cause the tick-tock was too loud! Now the figures just stand still.

& one more! A picture I found at my grandfather's house in Arkansas. It belonged to my mother when she was in college & I love it dearly.

I have gotten this china egg from my mom for Christmas.

And I have gotten this tea from my friend in Japan for Christmas.

It's been posted before I think, the flower tea. Delicious.

I arranged it in the empty shell of my breakfast egg when I was done. I thought it deserved some more moment of glory instead of just being thrown into the trash like that ;D

this was what my wedding centerpieces looked like - we bought 20 vintage tablecloths and vintage pedestal bowls at antique stores and flea markets, matchbooks from Anthropologie, little birdies from jo-ann's, and mason jars from Farm & Fleet. Every table was different and pretty.

alright, back to lurking for me, see you guys in another 6 months.
or at least until I make some tea - I got one of those glass teapots and flowering tea bulb set things for xmas, we'll see how that works.

i found this at a thrift store long, long ago and fell in love with how absurd it was. sadly, i have to part with it, since i'm moving soon. i'm not sure if posting a link to an ebay auction would be appropriate for this community, but if anyone is interested, i'd be glad to give you a link!

on the body of the pot, there are two witches on broomsticks chasing a man on horseback. he is racing towards what looks like an inn or something of the sort. there is a man protecting the door of the inn with a shotgun, while other folks still seem to be enjoying themselves inside. the clock on the wall reads twenty minutes til midnight. it seems to be some sort of colonial scene. on the handle of the teapot, is a hand twisting up out of nowhere, which grasps the the top of it. i don't really have any way of knowing how old it is, except that it is ceramic. on the bottom, someone has inscribed it with "happy anniversary, ruth & rog".

Hello! I hope you're all having a very merry Christmas, and recieved lovely things. I did and just had to share one of them with you, I thought many of you might like it too;

It is all padded and plush on the outside, with a gold tassel to open it. It features these dolls (including two bears, a rabbit and two kitten dolls) who have survived in this house through the Medieval (Tudor), Eighteenth Century, Victorian and La Belle Epoque periods and has them dressed in the costumes of the time. Basically it has lots of flaps to look behind; Jewellery boxes, doors, windows, dressing screens, masquerade masks, and there is a pop-up house of each period where you can look through the windows and open the doors and find things inside the house, and bits of lace and velvet and in every era there is an envelope with a letter inside inviting you into the next time! Oh it is darling! ♥ I'm sorry some pictures are rather blurry, and I didn't photograph every page atall.
