Tonight is our last rehearsal before the day of, and things are going GREAT!

We've all put a lot of time, effort and yes, even money into making this happen. It happens at the Fez Ballroom (316 sw 11th) THIS THURSDAY August 21st, and only costs 7 bucks.

This, of course, being many girls nude/semi nude onstage painted white, with video/images/etc projected onto them from 5 or so sources while my musical outfit, Sad Music for Happy Humans, makes thick mindfuck music that builds to utilizing dubstep/dnb/electro/live sampled drum beats. Since this is happening

Afterwards will be some sweet IDM/breakbeat music by the esteemed DJ Tan't, and longtime Portland music makers Ryze + Fall and DJ Harp will be giving us all some great LIVE Drum and Bass and Dubstep to dance the night away with.

I do hope you'll all attend, there is a great buzz going on about this show and I think it's going to end up being fabulous! But it will be moreso if YOU are there.... come say hi!

More info can be found at

http://www.happyhumans.org

Thirty One Art Show

Here is your opportunity for cheap art and a good time.

"Thirty-one!"
Portland's Affordable Art Extravaganza...

OM Tradition Arts
14 NE 10th Ave. (at E. Burnside)
Portland, OR

Aug. 1st, 2008
3-7pm Preview Show (no sales)
7pm-10pm Sale! (cash only)

3pm-9pm Silent Auction
"Hidden Gems" Show (come see what's left) Aug. 3rd, 6-8pm

On Aug. 1st, 2008, the follow-up show to last year's overwhelmingly successful "Thirty!" show will take place in central Portland. Appropriately named, "Thirty-one!", this one-night only show will feature thirty-one artists who have created thirty-one paintings in thirty-one days. Each of the 961 paintings will be unveiled and for sale for $31 each, alongside live music, a silent auction and, most likely, another crowd of eager art lovers.

The intention for this show is to connect groups of Portland artists, inspire new bodies of work, showcase emerging talent, provide affordable
artwork for the community, and raise money for arts organizations. Based on the time line, artists are encouraged to explore new territory, experiment, loosen up and have fun!

The proceeds from this art extravaganza will be donated to Artists for the Arts, whose mission is to ensure that the arts remain an integral part of education for children in

Portland Metro-area schools. AFTA raises funding and awareness through the collaborative efforts of artists, businesses, educators, organizations and the community.

Please visit http://www.thirtyshows.blogspot.com for complete show information and artists' profiles.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration in supporting this event.

I am moving to Portland in a few weeks and I have no idea where I am going to live. I have a job, it's OK I am transferring. I have friends in Portland already. I need to know where I should live, what to do when I am there, what's interesting, etc.

ME: Film/Photography Major, kind of sk8/punk ish, tattooed, gauged ears, gay, I like to drink and dance, not afraid of drugs or "urban" areas, Have mostly lived in the artsy/alter-native areas. I have live in Milwaukee, Phoenix, Chicago, Orlando, and Seattle. I am totally open to new experiences.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

PS. if this doesn't fit into the standards of your comunity I am sorry, but it was the only recently updated community on LJ besides Portland Republicans.

Art for Change

I've decided that I want to get my name change done officially, for once and all -- so:

During the month of December, buy an 8x10 print of any of my photos for $20, and help me get my name changed! All proceeds past the cost of my name change will be donated to the Identity Project, which provides funding and assistance for gender variant people in the Portland area to get their name and gender marker changed.

I'll be printing locally, so contact me directly with what picture you want (don't purchase through my DeviantArt page), and I'll get it to you well in time for your winter holiday celebration of choice.

You can view my photography at the following sites:
http://thisnik.com
http://blakthorne.deviantart.com
http://flickr.com/photos/thisnik/

Give the gift of art (or keep it for yourself) and support the Identity Project!

(...and my apologies if you see this multiple times.)
