Okay we are not after processed female models that are given an Xbox controller and posed to say "Look I am a girl gamer!" and I am surely not spamming you with this thread.

I am Colleen Segina, I am the Director EveTV for the game of Eve Online http://www.eve-online.com, its a webbased television show created when players from the game were asked to put together a event at the developers HQ and has become a perm feature for the game.

Anyway, why I am contacting you ladies. We are running a series of shows. One titled "New player Experience", and the other "Female Gamers" throughout this season of EVETV and we are looking for REAL girl gamers.

Below is the specs for the show at the moment and we are looking to hear from ladies for this show and upcoming shows who would be interesting in coming down for a Wednesday filming to our Ealing Studios, London.

Participants needed for a segment titled “New Player Experience”:

Does anyone else here use the gaming messenger Xfire?

If you don't you really should check it out. In my opinion I think it makes talking to your friends while your playing a PC game much easier since it doesn't interupt your game. Also, it shows what games your friends are playing and makes it easier to join them in a game.

Yea .. I’m thoroughly addicted to Guild Wars. Once again I will be sacrificing time to the alter of my computer – and she is a demanding Goddess. *laugh*

Seriously tho, there are a couple quirks of the game that are a bit annoying right now – but it’s mostly because I’ve played so much Neverwinter Nights that I’m used to things working a certain way. Most of it is just a matter of getting used to the controls. For example – the camera pivots to how the character is facing, and you use the keyboard to move the character around. You can also use the mouse to move the character, but when you do that, you loose the ability to move the camera via the keyboard. This was highly annoying, until I figured out that if you hold down the right-click button on the mouse, you can pivot the camera independent of movement. Using the scroll wheel, you can have either the 3rd person view (where you watch your character run around the screen) or 1st person view (where you “look through your character’s eyes) by a simple use of the zoom feature.

The other thing I like about the game is that it’s designed for cooperative play – but that the designers didn’t loose their minds about it. There are some things that are just difficult for a single player to do .. however, the game designers did understand that there would be many people (like me) who often play alone because they use the game as a “something to do when everyone else is busy” kind of entertainment. So – things aren’t impossible to do without company .. but they are a bit trickier, and you have to be a bit more clever to pull it off.

Character advancing is a little different as well .. you choose a “profession” to be .. ie: Ranger, Warrior, Monk, Mesmer, Necromancer .. this is your “class”. You can then choose to take a secondary profession to round out your character – or you can go straight one or the other. You need to be trained in these professions by finding trainers (NPC’s) and doing things for them will give you new skills. Skills can be used at any time, but how well you use them is dependent on the abilities that drive them. There aren’t many abilities – which is nice, not tons of things to keep track of .. and the points you get per level are small – so you have to decide how you want your character to advance. So far, the only limits I’ve seen on how high you can take an ability is the number of points you have to spend (unlike NWN where there are skill “caps” for each level).

From playing several hours yesterday, I’m only at level 3 or so. You level relatively slowly, but so far, there was really only one quest I couldn’t do because I wasn’t strong enough – and I think, had I had someone of my level playing with me, working together, we wouldn’t have had a problem (the stupid creature healed damage at a rate that was faster than I could dole it out alone at the time).

In short – I whole-heartedly agree with the reviews that gave this game a 9.5 out of 10 points. Great graphics, well thought out game design (so far as I’ve seen), interesting storylines .. you get XP for doing things for NPC’s, not just for combat. All in all, it’s a great game. And aside from the issues I’m having with the store-bought account, I’m very happy with it.

Hey, new to to the community.

I've been a gamer about as long as I've been alive. Started out playing Atari with my dad and his friends, then moved on to Nintendo. Yeh, old school. Played D&D for about 5 years, DM'd for 3. I'm now a full on PC gamer, my favourites being UT2K4 and Warcraft III. When I'm not blowing things to hell, I'm fooling around with Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. (actually it's a lot of fun, if you can get your hands on it, try it!) I just rediscovered Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, and am hacking and slashing my way through that. Good stuff.

I use IRC, so if there are any girl gamer oriented rooms, let me know.

I know we've got some regular CoD players out there. My boyfriend's clan now has their own server and they really need some people that are willing to play in it.

They're called mpk or sometimes [MPK] (Moldy Peaches Klan). The server doesn't really have any rules (meaning you can pretty much say and do what you want while there). I must warn you though, sometimes they may say some things that might offend others, but they really don't care. They're just there to play and have a good time. (When I can get on a computer that I can actually get CoD to play on I sometimes play in the clan with them.)

The IP for the server is 70.85.137.242 and the game type is HQ. If anyone does decide to play would you mind leaving me your CoD name just so I might mention to my guy who you are?

On a side note (I don't want this to sound like I'm trying to recruit for them...well, maybe I am trying to help them out just a bit..lol) they are looking for a few more people to add to their clan. They're wanting to compete in the TWL leagues. So, if you do go and play on the server with them and you do well they might just ask you to be in the clan if you're not already in a clan (it would more than likely be my boyfriend that would ask you since he is the founding member), but if you're not asked don't feel bad. They usually don't ask peole unless they see them play a bit.

Well, thanks for reading my little (big) rant! Have fun and hopefully I'll see you all on the server sometime (when I'm not playing I tend to watch him play alot)!!

I'm Sarah, 18 (almost 19), live up in the northwest, Portland OR to be precise..and as you probably have guessed, have a passion for games, specifically PC games.. I love RPGs, Neverwinter Nights, Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, SW: Knights of the Old Republic, Dungeon Siege...etc...

Hey I am new here so I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Sarah and I am 20 (21 in may yeah baby!) I have recently started to play Counter Strike, other then that and a few first person shooters on the N64 is my limited experience with video games. I get GameSpy's newsletter every day. I'm not sure if anyone else here gets it or not. It has alot of links that could be helpful for different PC games in each issue and sometimes it has some posts that are worth reading. How would everyone feel about me doing a daily post ( on the days that I can that is ) of the things they have linked in it?
