I just got a reply from the Executive Director of Music and Entertainment at HDNet that they will be airing the 2007 Grand Finale concert (with Bishi and Owen Palette, I believe) on HDNet (DirecTV channel 306) on August 2nd at 2PM ET. Thank you to everyone who's been clicking that link and requesting the concert be shown. I'm SO excited!!! Set your DVRs if you can!

sorry for the late notice, but Patrick's been announced as a guest panelist on Steve Lamacq's Roundtable. it'll be on 6music in a little under an hour now.

late edit: he was adorable as usual and he was *so* flirting with Thomas Dolby, it was cute :)

So just to give you a heads up that Patrick was on Lauren Laverne's radio show on Saturday.

Link is here, on bbc iplayer: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00ln1qc/Lauren_Laverne_11_07_2009/

You have skip forward to about an hour in. It's pretty fun. Turns out he was in a video by Lauren's old band Kenickie, when he was about 12. Gold star to anyone who can find it!

Enjoy..

For those of you fortunate enough to have caught Patrick on the recent Nylon tour of the U.S...

When he performs "The Bachelor", who sings the duet with him? Is Eliza Carty touring with him or does he sing it all by himself or...?

Just got my copy of the Rough Trade Bachelor/Spinster pack. I got in under the wire, I think, and grabbed one of the last in stock. It's the first time I've had the album physically in hand (since Patrick just signed the next 1000 box sets) and I'm over the moon. Had a total fangirl moment and squeed out loud when I found my name amongst the hundreds in the Bandstocks/TWIN credits. I could only afford to buy one little £10 Bandstock but it's an amazing feeling, thinking that in my tiny little way, I helped make this incredible album happen. I just feel really lucky to be a fan of an artist who appreciates his fans and includes them so much in nearly everything he does, and to have the chance to give a little something back to someone who has given so much to me, that's beyond any price. I can't WAIT for the Conqueror campaign to start!

Okay, I've had my gushy moment for the day, nothing more to see here, lol.

I just got the Hard Times 7" in the mail and the cover is not the cover that's shown everywhere on the internet.
On the cover that's on wikipedia, Rough Trade, etc. he is standing up, and on mine, he is kneeling.
Anyone know what's up with this?

Wooo! Got tickets for the icon-i-coustic set at the National Portrait Gallery. Patrick is performing my favourite art museum!

They are running a 'gay icons' exhibition: here's the blurb...

To accompany the Gay Icons exhibition, ICONIC is a programme of events which explore the darkly queer and uncannily bright side of icons - the fantasy, emotion, cult, deceit, promiscuity, joy, desire, melancholy, beauty, sexuality, ambiguity and the one - through performance, film, music, literature, talks and walks.

Curated by Jonathan Keane with the National Portrait Gallery.

Icon-i-coustic: Patrick Wolf
Innovative, radical, creative and spirited, the young, talented and brilliant Patrick Wolf plays an intimate unique acoustic gig. Patrick has four albums to draw on for this gig and has always worked with iconic musical material, drawing inspiration from Kate Bush, Marianne Faithful and Tilda Swinton. A member of queer experimental art music outfit Minty from the tender age of 14, come and see an icon in the making.

Anyone else coming?

I'm devastated. Our DirecTV HD-DVR recorded the performance at Shepherd's Bush Empire 2007 a few weeks ago and we forgot to set it to KEEP and now it's been automatically purged. Does anyone have it?!? Can anyone burn me a DVD or it or send it somehow?!?

I used my HD camcorder for the entire Atlanta show.  I never even put it down.  I did attach a wide-angle lens about half way through the show, which I think worked better.  I didn't video the earlier shows because the tour manager (Nik) told me not to but then when I talked to Patrick at Weaver Street Market in Carrboro, he said it was fine and that he would inform Nik.  So I did video for the last two shows.  That and the fact that my Canon 40D dSLD is broken.  I did have to strike a balance between recording the event and being there to actually enjoy it and watch with my own eyes and be able to dance and rock out.  So though I think I did a pretty good job keeping the lens aimed properly, I wasn't watching the screen constantly so it might be a little off at times.  Also, it could be shaky occasionally as I was dancing but trying to keep my hand steady (sometimes on top of a monitor).  I LOVE how unique each of his shows was and I especially loved that he did "Don't Say No" at this one!

Here are the videos and the setlist for the Atlanta (The Loft at Center Stage) show:

Kriegspiel
Vulture
Oblivion
Bluebells (with Peter Pan)
Damaris
Pigeon Song
The Bachelor
(Patrick banter)
Don't Say No
(Patrick loves the South!)
The Libertine
Tristan
Battle
(Patrick invites Cody from Jaguar Love on stage and does "Underneath Your Clothes" by Shakira)
Hard Times (with Man In The Mirror)
Accident & Emergency
(Patrick talking to the crowd)
The Magic Position (with lots of jubilation and dancing)
Who Will?

I used my HD camcorder for the entire Carrboro/Chapel Hill (Cat's Cradle) show though I did put it down a few times so I could dance like crazy...

The show at the Cradle was really incredible.  The Cradle can hold a much larger crowd but the students aren't here so I hope he comes back when they are!  Most of the fans that came to the show were genuine fans who know his lyrics and appreciate him.  There were a few hecklers but it was okay since Patrick was in a good mood and laughed them off.  I LOVE that he had such a great day and fell in love with my hometown immediately.  I LOVE that he did Teignmouth and Armistice and Blackdown especially!

Listen, watch, enjoy!

Here are the HD videos and the setlist:

Teignmouth
Careless Talk
Bluebells
Damaris
Pigeon Song
Oblivion
The Bachelor
Augustine
(Patrick loves Carrboro)
(Patrick wants to pay tribute to Michael Jackson)
Michael from Mountains (Joni Mitchell cover - cuts out, unfortunately)
Blackdown (with Vaeety Braeu)
Armistice
The Magic Position
Who Will?
(Patrick laughs off a heckler)
Hard Times (with Man In The Mirror)
Accident & Emergency (with Get Down, Make Love - a Queen cover, I think)
(Patrick turned down Glastonbury for Carrboro)
Tristan
Vulture (with band acknowledgments and Patrick's Ode to Carrboro)
Bitch (Plasticines with Patrick Wolf, came during their set, obviously...)

So...I'm at The Loft front left. Who else is in here? Jaguar Love just finished. I'm sad this is the end of the line for us but ther's going to be SO much more fun tonight too!

The show Wednesday night at Rock & Roll Hotel in Washington, DC was probably the best Patrick Wolf show I've EVER seen!  The audience was quiet and respectful and yet enthusiastic and thrilled about everything Patrick was doing.  Patrick was ON the whole night.  He came out with a very serious expression on his face and we were concerned that he was upset about something but then he sat down at his piano and played an incredible version of "The Messenger" while wearing a costume specifically for Washington, DC (a sort of "Founding Fathers" thing).  Patrick gave the DC audience his best possible performance the entire night.  He really poured out his heart to us!

He was very tight-lipped about talking in between songs, he says, because he's a musician and should just play music.  He's apparently read some stuff recently where people accused him of being a diva or rude to the audience and of drinking while on stage.  Personally, I don't think he's been drinking at all and the people who've written that are dead wrong.  And I also think he's been VERY professional and tolerant of the kind of disrespectful jackassery that's been coming out at some of his recent shows.  It really ruins the show for his real fans when people come to the shows and get drunk and blurt out idiotic things at inappropriate times and I think Patrick does his best to protect the experience for those of us who really love him and respect him and want to hear him perform without rude interruptions.

We had to wait for over an hour after Living Things finished before Patrick came on.  They seemed to be having technical difficulties with mics and cords not working and the tour manager (Nik) and Marcello and a few other people were nervously testing and retesting all the mics and cords and instruments because they wanted it all to work right when Patrick came out.  But OMFG was it worth the wait!  Patrick came out and FLOORED me (and probably everyone else) with one of the most incredible performances I've ever seen.

Here's the setlist:

The Messenger
Kriegspiel
Vulture
Bluebells
Damaris
Pigeon Song
Oblivion
Tristan
The Bachelor
Paris
Railway House
The Libertine
Wind In The Wires
Who Will?
Accident & Emergency
The Magic Position
Hard Times
A Boy Like Me

I can't believe he did The Messenger, Paris, Railway House, Wind In The Wires and A Boy Like Me!  Patrick said he was performing "Railway House" for Katty (Katty Besnard, lead singer of The Plasticines) and she was moved to tears as he performed it for her.  Paris and A Boy Like Me are two of my all-time favorite songs so I was thrilled for those.  Also, I'm so grateful that he continues to do "The Libertine" at almost every show because I LOVE that song!  And Tristan too!  Damaris is one of my favorites from "The Bachelor" as well.

I recorded the audio only for this show.  I was going to use my dSLR to take pix but it appears to be broken, sadly.  I'm getting ERR 99 when I try to take a picture, regardless of which lens, battery or memory card I'm using.  It's a Canon 40D.  I think it needs to be serviced but if anyone knows what might be suddenly causing this error, please let me know ASAP!

The show at Highline Ballroom was awesome!  Patrick performed an even longer setlist including the debut performance of "Armistice".  I tried to audio-only record the show but my camcorder overheated and shut off once so I missed Battle and Tristan.

Here's the setlist:
Vulture
Oblivion
Bluebells
Enchanted
Damaris
Pigeon Song
The Bachelor
The Libertine
Battle
Tristan
Blackdown
Who Will?
Theseus
Land's End

Since Patrick announced he was doing a new song, I recorded it (Armistice):

I took a few pix with my point-n-shoot but they aren't very good.  Maybe I'll try editing them and add them to this post...

Anyway, the NYC show was incredible, despite a little bit of heckling and sound problems...
