Review of doom; Belgium, Rock Werchter July 6th
So...
_sofiej_ and I saw Panic in Belgium...
First of all, this is us, Sofie and me, and the shirts we're wearing are ones we designed, featuring Panic as modifications of MSN smileys. We got six of them and gave four to Panic.

So, now that we got that cleared out and you all know what t-shirts are we talking about later on...
So... This creepy fucker towered over the entrance to Werchter Festival :D

We met Tanni [
After we got inside and made our way to the stage we noticed we managed to get fairly close to the stage, and there was next to no pushing and it was awesome. There was actually room to breathe, and everyone just gave space to others around them, which was like the most awesome thing ever. Sofie says it's normally not the case in festivals around here, but I guess it was just the fact that ot was the final day of the festival and everyone was tired / hungover / not so interested in Panic [and that last option sounds such blasphemy, but well, that was probably the reason] ...but hey, the less people interested in them, the more room for us, so yay for that! \o/
The first band to play was an Australian band called the John Butler Trio. They had quite an unique, Aussie-like sound with drums and Aboriginal kind of drum stuff. I had never heard of them before, but I'll definitely check them out once I get back home and have time for that :)

The John Butler Trio :)
Then, Panic.
We had been staying at a barrier that was a little away from the stage [there were barriers in the middle of the pit, probably to stop people from squeezing other people to death], but once the John Butler Trio finished, some people left and we could just walk to the third or fourth row, right in the middle. I should probably be thankful that Panic isn't that popular in Belgium - it made everything easier for us. But I did feel a bit bad for them, because the majority of the people in the audience - though it was a full audience in the end, when they begun playing - didn't know the lyrics or didn't even recognize the new songs, apart from NITA and TGG... Everyone went nuts at Lying, but then looked at us like we were weirdos when we sang along to the songs from Pretty. Odd. *frown*
We met Susan [

Okay, phew. That was a lot of pictures to crop and recap. *wipes brow* ...the original ones were huge, I mean, numbers 30, 31 and 32 were all cropped from the same picture, so I guess that tells a story about the resolution. I'm actually amazed what my crappy camera can do, even from a slight distance away... [seeing as the stage was really high and the barrier prevented the crowd from getting really close at all] :)
Ooookay, so we flailed and squealed and sang along with all of the songs, naturally. We showed a "PLAY WEIGHT ♥" sign we had made, which they completely ignored. Then we held up "BDEN, FANCY A 3SOME" one, and whoa yes, the reaction :'DDDD
It was in the beginning of The Only Difference, and Brendon was singing into the mic. Then we lifted the sign and I saw how his eyes instantly flashed to the sign, and he started grinning while still singing... looked like he was having a hard time trying not to crack up in mid-song :D Ryan saw it too, and he just looked at it and then looked at Brendon, like, "rrrrright." :'D Someone also said we got to the big screens with our sign, but we didn't see it, though :DDDD Guess we were too busy staring at Bden's reaction :D
The set was disappointingly short, they didn't play Folkin' Around or Time To Dance, or Weight and just.... *pouts* ...but the little they played was good, though. And I was surprised they didn't start with We're So Starving, but Pas De Cheval [which like 3/4 of the audience didn't even know... SHAME ON THE AUDIENCE!] ...but yeah, it was still good. <3 I heart those boys.
Then as they left the stage we rushed over to the place where they keep signings in Werchter. They have a really good system there! There's a covered and fenced area where you can see the band all the time from the outside [there's a couch they sit on and a table in front of it], but they only let in three or four people at a time, so there's actually a bit time to chat and whatnot, without the pressure of millions of people pushing the line forward. Once the three or four people are finished, they let in a few more and guide the previous ones away from another gate. The system works really well and it gives more of a sense of a personal meeting, rather than being herded like cattle in line.
We got to the line for the signing, because a guy told us Panic would only have like 20 minutes before they'd have to leave, and if we wouldn't get in the line right away we probably wouldn't make it there. So we lined up in front of the signing area, and the line grew to be huge. We met two new awesome people, called Jules and Arwen [not real names, but they called themselves that]. Jules was from Poland and Arwen was Dutch, and they had met randomly online, just like me and Sofie. They were awesome, so we hooked up with them and queued together :)
Then we spotted Zack, who came to check the security shit at the signing area, and me and Sofie ran over to ask him if it was okay to give the boys some gifts. We said we had t-shirts for them and I showed him the "REINVENT ♥" hippie-van we'd got.

Zack actually cooed "awwww" at it, omg :') He said it was okay for us to give the items to the boys, so we thanked him and went back to the line. Jules had drawn two pictures for them. [Those of you who saw a video from the spring tour in Europe where someone threw panic drawings onstage and they actually picked them up and admired them - they were pics by Jules, she's really talented in drawing <3] She had drawn Ryan and Keltie and it was adorable and awwww, and another picture of just Keltie which she said she'd tell Ryan to deliver onward to her.
People tried to cheat and push to the front of the line, but luckily we in the line managed to combine our fangirly powers and keep them at bay ;) Also, we decided to annoy all the "fangirls" that had heard only IWSNT or something and started singing Pretty. Odd. songs on the top of our lungs ;D It was fun. We actually started with Britney's Baby One More Time [which got Spencer cracking up and looking at Brendon in the signing area :D], but then we came up with the 'let's annoy the silly girls who didn't know the lyrics to the new songs' idea and sang Northern Downpour, From a Mountain, TGG, Do You Know What I'm Seeing? and many others... People looked at us like we were total freaks XD
So, finally we got to the signing area - me, Sofie, Jules and Arwen at the same time. Brendon was the first on the couch, and me and Sofie went to him and I handed him the hippie-van. Brendon took it, chuckled and cracked a smile, saying, "Oh my god, that's amazing!"
*brb, need some time to recover from remembering the mental image of that*
Then I pulled out one of the shirts and handed it to him, while Sofie gave one to Spencer, who was sitting next to Brendon. Brendon took the shirt and was all, "Is this for me? That's amazing!" *giggle giggle giggle* OMG BRB MELTING. o_O
His smile. Oh dear god. And his huge, wide open puppy eyes when he got our stuff, just OMG. <3
Then I smirked and asked, "So, did you see our sign?"
He looked confused, so I clarified, "The 3some one?"
Brendon: *cracks up and smiles at me* "Yeah, haha, that was amazing!"
[side note; 'Amazing' seems to be Bden's favorite word :D]
I had hoped he'd know how to take the sign and not be offended or anything, and luckily I was right about his sense of humor, because he seemed to be genuinely amused by it :D I didn't venture to look in Zack's direction, though, because I think he didn't find it as amusing as Brendon did :D
Then I pulled out a picture of Leonard Ham. If you know me, you know that me and Sofie have our inside jokes about HAM, and Leonard Ham's wedding picture is part of that joke. So I gave the picture to Brendon and went, "Also, could you sign this for me?"
Brendon: *takes the picture and looks at me with a 'wtf? lol omg haha' expression* "Um, what's this?"
Me: "It's Leonard Ham's wedding picture."
Brendon: *looks like a very confused puppy*
Me: "Uh, it's an inside joke, you don't really want to know."
Brendon: *is quiet and thoughtful for a moment* "Oooh, it's kinda like a groom's bride or something?" [Poor boy, he was trying so hard to figure out the joke, omg, so cute <333]
I couldn't stay there forever so I didn't care to explain him that no, it's nothing even close to that, but boy is he cute when he goes all thoughtful and 'damn I need to solve this problem!' :')

Brendon signing Leonard Ham :D [also, note Spencer laughing at the picture :'D]
Spencer and Ryan signed Leonard without a second glance, but when Jon got the picture he was about to sign it, but then he took another glance and looked up. "What's this?"
Us: "It's Leonard Ham, and his wife Olenia Ham...that's their wedding picture."
Jon: *utterly confused* "Uh, who's that?"
Me: "Um, it's kind of an inside joke. You do not want to know, okay?"
Jon still looked confused, but he signed the picture anyway :'D He was so cute <3 Like a lost puppy, all puzzled and adorable. AWWWWWW. <3
*
