Because I feel exhausted. I'm usually not so beat by 11 PM, but that debate was DRAINING!
Seriously... it was just an attack on my brain and it went explodey...
I still want Obama, lesser evil and all... but I wonder if maybe if I should give Ralph Nader another chance...
You know? As bad John, Sarah, and Joe The Plumber are...
they still aren't Alan Keyes.
Am I right? |

I think Joe "The Plumber" Sixpack would enjoy it. So will you. |

[Oct. 15th, 2008|03:26 pm] |
So, there’s that episode of Seinfeld. Do you know it? Do you know the one I'm talking about? Oh... well, George Constanza is sitting at the diner, having a meal and this woman approaches him. This really attractive, pretty, well… this really hot woman comes up to and taps him on the shoulder. George turns around and she says "Oh I'm sorry... I thought you were my boyfriend...he looks JUST like you".
So, George, here… he's flabbergasted. He’s going on and on and on about the fact that this woman’s boyfriend looks just like him when he’s talking to his best friend Jerry. They argue about it, they analyze it, they pick it apart. That’s what they do… it’s Seinfeld… WHY is a Show ABOUT NOTHING really about NOTHING!?
Anyways, next time George sees the woman at diner he asks her about it and she tells him "Well, actually you're a little taller, and better looking and have more hair" And all George wants in reaction to this is the GUYS number, so he can meet the guy! Find out how a guy who looks like him, got to date this amazing woman.
She agrees to give George the number and George makes plans to hang out with her, to find out more about the BOYFRIEND!
So after dinner, George and her are at her place and George is about to leave and then... she invites George in for a nightcap. Get this though, George says he needs to get home, just in case her boyfriend calls cause he really needs to talk to him.
George, the guy looks like this woman’s boyfriend, but who is better looking, now has the girl and doesn’t even realize it. So fixated on the mistaken identity and how a guy like him could get a girl like her, he’s oblivious that he has her. That this amazing girl has basically taken her Mistaken identity and chosen to try and take advantage and get herself a better looking man and George… walks away.
Well, you know if that ever happened to me? Not that it ever will… but if that ever happened to me?
There’s going to be a guy who looks like me, but not as good looking about to become a single man.
Seriously, I’d be all over that like white on white rice… or yellow on a banana peel or orange on a…orange or green on a …green apple.
As aside, as I walk the streets of NYC I constantly mistake people for being George Constanza. Then I remember that Jason Alexander is not going to be randomly walking in front of me on NYC. Although, stranger things have happened.
I mean, I mistakenly thought I saw Samuel Jackson and it wasn’t a mistake, I mistakenly thought I heard Harvey Firestein once, wasn’t a mistake and I best yet, mistakenly thought I saw Ted Danson dropping off his daughter at my college and talked to him for over an hour… it actually WAS Ted Danson. Then there’s the multiple times I mistakenly bumped into Jaenene Garafolo or Tim Robbins, but once again… those weren’t mistakes and totally different stories all. |

[Oct. 15th, 2008|02:26 pm] |
Cruising along Nick and I were on Kent in Williamsburg taking in the sites. The sun coming down nice, a lovely lovely day it was. I spied some graffiti out of my eye and we pulled over. Then we saw that a lot of folks were headed towards what looked like a lovely park, so went too.
Over looking the river, with the Skyline of Manhattan in the background and a "mini" beach with rocks and lots of folks lounging around. It was a pleasant place just to sit back and take it all in.

Eventually even that magic wore off though and we headed back into the car, driving around Williamsburg. We drove down over to the bridge to discover one of my favorite spots had been buffed completely. Dismayed, we traveled back up to Bedford, then zig zagged up the North streets. Eventually we pulled over again and stopped in at KCDC and Beacon's Closet, walking away with nothing. Then we chose to take a long walk away from the car, meandering in the sunlight, discussing life, enjoying our surroundings.
One of the pieces I saw along our walk that I really enjoyed was the following Keith Haring tribute.
Later I would be told by the artist, Nohj Coley, who is becoming one of my good friends in the art scene that it was his. That was cool.
So... how did the day end? Well, eventually we were both tired and hungry. I had no desire to sit down at a restaurant that night though, so we drove back to Queens, grabbed some food and chilled back at my place till the day had wound down and it was time to say peace out.
and that was Sunday. |

This morning, I started up iTunes (on shuffle) as I prepared for work. While I was in the shower, "Love Is A Stranger" came on.

1. I need NANA icons. Must get on this ASAP.
2. NANA 'ships: If I can't have Nana/Hachi (which is what I really want, but suspect I can't have), I will take Nana/Yasu and Hachi/Nobu. I suspect I can't have those either, but they are at least a little more likely. My choices seem odd, now that I'm looking at them, because they are the opposite of what the characters tend to chose for themselves. I suppose I think it's what they actually need. Hachi tends to seek out someone to take care of her, while Nobu offers her a relationship of equals--two people taking care of each other, which is what I think she really needs to be the very best version of herself. Nana, on the other hand, generally will not let someone take care of her, but I think she really needs it, so that she can heal herself. That brings me to Yasu. So. Nana/Yasu, Hachi/Nobu. Nana/Hachi, of course, would be the most perfect thing ever, but while I think Hachi might go for it, I don't think Nana would.
3. I'm tired.
Hi.

What I meant by the first part of my last entry was not to sound angry - I meant that although I think it's human nature to want to be heard - have someone listen and understand what you are saying - when something like this happens you don't want to hear that anyone KNOWS exactly how you're feeling... because no matter whom you have lost, it is nothing like the other person's experience because this is your own. It's almost insulting to compare how one person felt when someone they cared about died however long ago to how someone else feels about a death that just happened. And in an instance such as this, which is something I hope nobody ever has to go through themselves - losing a younger sibling - you don't want to hear every person's story of losing someone and their scenario and their sob stories - as if it's a game of one-upping your misery. "Well you think you got it bad? When my father died...." Anytime someone launches into their "I know how you feel, when my [insert any person imaginable] died...." scenario - I just tune it out, nod every once in a while and look for a break in the conversation so I can get away and be alone. I think it happens at least twice a day... although not yesterday because I stayed home sick. I was puking in the early morning hours and then slept all day long. Probably what my body needed... now I am back at work. Thrilling. |

Last minute call from The Nickster brought forth a full day of fun!
We headed out to Long Island City where I got to finally spy the awesome ELC Chashama piece down by the river.
 see it bigger here
Then after meandering around we decided since it was right there we'd head over to Brooklyn. I was pleasantly surprised to discover one the murals down there had been redone with a Poseidon theme.
 see bigger
We headed down McGuiness where I got to see some YMI Crew magic.
 see bigger
and our day continued on from there, but I'll save that to tell more story and photos later.
Driving round was killer though, parking and walking, then hoping back int the car and hunting more. Amazing day and like I said... more to come. |

In WoW news, I ran home to give Ambassador Pencilcup a haircut and some facial tattoos! Granted, I first gave her green braids and ran outside... and hated it. Who needs gold? Tamed The Kurken and greatly hope that they take out the fact that the ground shakes whenever he walks. I was quite irate when I logged on and saw that my beautiful WhiteOut, a totally white cat, had been given black stripes >:( I plan on taming a worm and a chimera when the servers come back up. I shall make the trio Yummy, Tasty, and Delcious, unless you can give me some better names.
Still SICK. I'm wondering if I have a sinus infection, though it would be odd that I'm having massive headaches starting from the back of my head if this were so. Pain woke me up at about 3 am - SEVERE pain from the back right side of my head. I almost got up as I thought I would never fall asleep again and thought I would have to call in. I don't know HOW I was able to fall back asleep, but I did. Overall, I feel like my head is about five times its normal size and that my arms are about 80 lbs each.

[Oct. 14th, 2008|03:51 pm] |

After work I headed towards Canal and Wooster for photography fun. I walked around up and down Greene, Crosby, etc. making my way slowly until I have no day light left up to Broadway-Lafayatte. I grabbed a lot of excellent stuff, lots of it new to me and some of it not seeming to appear in anyone else's stream that I follow. I have a ton of fellow NYC Street Art Photographers who I follow and ocassionaly hang out with and it gives me a little burst of pride when any one of us end up with a shot that none of the others have at all.
So I headed down into the subway to make it over to Brooklyn where some of those fellow Photographers had an opening at Factory Fresh. Wonderful show and the gallery was fantastic as always. Got to say hello to a ton of peeps, Deeks, Royce, Celso, Nohj, SuperK8, Anera, Horine, Luna, Elbow, etc., etc., etc. Met a bunch of new folks too and it was fun. I tried leaving about five times but kept getting sucked back in and didn't end up going home until the whole thing was complete.

I was happy to replace vinyl and cassettes I already own (New Edition, Bobby Brown, Prince, Michel'le, Club Nouveau, Ready For The World, The Cure).
For the price, I didn't mind trying out releases from bands I don't know but come recommended (The National, of Montreal).
I finally bought things that I should have already owned (U2, Simon & Garfunkel, Michael Jackson).
I also bought music by classic acts that I don't really know (The Clash, Queen, B.B. King, Billie Holiday).
And, for the first time, I bought something I already own (The Ocean Blue). I knew it was just a matter of time before I couldn't remember everything I have.
(Anyone want an Ocean Blue CD?) |

| | "Chrissie Kiss The Corpse" - of Montreal | ] | * Gene and I trekked to Union Square a couple of Saturdays ago for a little consumerism, but not before getting stuck in ridiculous Love Parade traffic. Just by chance, our first stop after lunch at Chipotle was Virgin Megastore. They were having a great sale: lots of CDs for $8 or $10! I dropped almost $400 on music; Gene picked up a few movies. Next, Gene upgraded his iPhone at the Apple Store. The sales associate was a guy I knew socially in San Jose but hadn't seen for 12 years. Earlier that week, Gene received a $500 gift card for Macy's. Neither of us can buy clothes there, so we headed for the shoe department. I couldn't find anything suitable in my size on the clearance rack; even with 'free' gift card money Gene couldn't bring himself to buy an $185 pair of Ecco footwear. We went across the street. He wanted to look in The Cellar for an espresso machine, so I immediately excused myself to the food court. Ben & Jerry's called to me. I tried Imagine Whirled Peace. It was quite good. Upon locating Gene in the store I learned he still had yet to decide on what to buy. I wandered aimlessly through houseware hell until he finally bought something.
* After our mini shopping spree we went Brandy Ho's in the Castro for dinner. While the North Beach location is known for serving dangerously hot/spicy Chinese food, my four trips to the new Castro location had left me disappointed: the food was mild, bordering on bland. Even asking for it to be prepared 'spicy' had yielded no result. I pleaded with the waiter to spice it up a bit. The kitchen basically accomplished this by grinding those scary red peppers no one ever eats into every dish we ordered. In retrospect, only one item actually benefitted from this. The extra heat just distracted from everything else. My digestive tract was not pleased. In fact, it staged a bitter revolt for five days. That experience never needs to be repeated.
* This video clearly demonstrates why Rebbie Jackson's solo career never really got off the ground.
* Over the past month or so, Gene and I have been going to a nearby Denny's for breakfast. Last weekend I looked around at the clientele and reached the very unscientific conclusion that eating at Denny's makes you fat. Scratch that ... not just fat, but morbidly obese. Especially if you're under the age of 12. Every person at every table in our section was way overweight. I looked thin in comparison, and we all know that I'm not thin. It was a little shocking. More than that, it was sad. No more cheap eats for me. So long, Mushroom Swiss Chopped Steak with mashed potatoes and cinnamon apples. It's been good knowing you, Lumberjack Slam.
* Daniel and I made an impromptu Backstreet Boys cover band in his apartment last week. He strapped on his guitar and I tinkled the keys. We both sang. It was fun. He told me he'd like to do the same with Depeche Mode's 101 sometime. I'm all over that.
* I dined with nanocub at China Bee in San Mateo last Tuesday. The food and company were delightful.
* The new Volkswagen commercials with Brooke Shields make me giggle: RoutanBoom.com.
* The new U.S. Navy ads that turn a natural disaster (the December 2004 tsunami) into a recruiting tool do not make me giggle.
* This past Saturday was an unusually social day. We attended Cody & Jack's wedding reception in the afternoon, then visited Bob for a couple of hours, then attended Katie and Dave's anniversary/reunion party in the evening. Seeing that I only hid in the bathroom twice, I'd say it was a pretty good day. Ultimately, it was nice to see folks. |
