Back in October, I posted this. But, it was friend's locked, and since I tried to remove everyone from the community, and the deleted it (later reopening), the entry apparently went unseen. I will be re-adding everyone to the community, but I'm going to be heading out for the afternoon once I post this.
But, the entry is open now.

Also, I am making the official announcement.
The world and city finally have names as of midnight, March 11th, 2006. I will be editing chapters to reflect this.
The world is known as D'amantru, and the city is Ametiton.
I used common names and online language dictionaries to get the bases for the words.
D'amantru is from the French word "diamant", meaning "diamond", and Ametiton is from the Swedish word "ametist", which means "amethyst".
More cities will be named and I am working up a few maps, but I need to decide on the specific location of Ametiton in relation to the rest of the world.

This is also a note to state that there may be a change in the novel's name. If I can decide on a better name, I will change it. This will not be "I think I'll try this... Well, that doesn't fit so I'm gonna do this." I'm only changing the name after I really think it over.

So, I think I've decided that I shall just leave Past Secrets on hiatus until I get my own computer. This means no October 20 goodness for you all.
I know you're just crushed. :p
I'm also really thinking about wrapping this one up as quickly as I can (as far as drafts go) and maybe keep it with the idea of a webnovel and webcomic, then make a new, (mostly) unrelated novel project. One I can work on with the idea in mind of it being turned into a real book. Why not keep this idea with Past Secrets? Well, it's always been online for free. I'd feel bad if I suddenly decided that I was only going to post the first 15 chapters (or less) and say "Find out what happens in the pulped dead tree version!" Becasue... what if you don't like it? I know Past Secrets is not that great of an idea, hell, even the title is ass, so why would I make you pay for a book you're probably going to really~ dislike. Also, I want Past Secrets to remain pliable. Something I can go back and easily tweak as my writing improves.
So, what would a new book entail? 1) Stealing the English book my mother will be getting for her college courses. 2) Finding a solid, wide ranged group of proofreaders (I may/probably will look outside my friends for this). I really need people that can give me solid, unbiased opinions, and writing advice. 3) Learning why, specifically, some fantasy novels make it and some don't.
I want to be published, even if it's just through lulu.com or something. I want someone to be able to say "Hey, read this, it's interesting." and hand someone an actual BOOK instead of a 3 ring binder of printed pages, or a piece of paper with a web address.
The new project would be set in a similar time, the same world, and with the same species found in Past Secrets, though probably more diversified. (I've yet to find a good use for the Avizone, outside of Anya, who I'm not sure will be returning.) It might refrence certian events in Past Secrets (such as Sno killing Janus' uncle and the Delphin return to power, as those are major, far reaching events), but there would be little to no direct contact with most, if any, of the Past Secrets cast. Hell, the main character might not even be a Delphin.
I'll think about it and maybe get some ideas down. In a way, I want to have something else that's a serious project to work on. I think I'm getting burnt out on Past Secrets again.
Oh, and those handful of you that do want a book version of Past Secrets, I'll probably do that
with the comic.

Let's see, on October 20, I did post all 10 remaining chapters of Section 1, and it is now finished. I'm editing Section 2 now, and I hope to have all that edited and reposted (with new chapters) within a year's time.

I'm making my third attempt at NaNoMangO. This is the artist alternitive to NaNoWriMo. I'm also taking this opportunity to start the Past Secrets comic/graphic novel back up. However, I'm incompetent and can't figure out AutoKeen Lite, so it'll be posted in the gallery until such time as I understand AutoKeen Lite, or I get someone to help me install it. First additions to the gallery should be on November 1, or November 2, depending on when I get back from North Carolina.

I've probably talked about this in my other journal at some point, but I'll re-type it here since I now have a little better understanding of why I do this.
There is a lot of color to character association in Past Secrets, be it through the character's own colors, one they usually wear, or just a color they prefer. Some characters don't have a color associated with them, or I haven't decided on it, so they aren't included.
Janus - Dark Blue
Janus surrounds himself with things of an expensive nature and lots of rich, dark colors, especially in fabrics. He has a fondness for the color blue, and so he tends to go for fabrics of that color. The closest color to his "ideal" blue is found in Prismacolor pencil and marker color "Indigo Blue". (As a side note, Indigo Blue finds it's way into almost every colored pencil piece I do, as I use it insted of black to make my darkest shadows.)
Adian - Dark Green
Adian, like his brother, prefers the finer things in life. He, however, has to know how to make his actions seem natural and fit with his surroundings. Being in charge of the security of Janus' estate requires this. Luckily, Adian likes darker shades of green. The closest I can get to the "ideal" shade is Prismacolor "Dark Green".
Nytehawk - Light Blue
Nytehawk's final character design, as she is introduced, is an extremely pale blue. This is her fur color, and these light, pastel hues were very sought after in the so-called "Show" slaves. (I'll touch on that in a later entry.) Her coloration saved her from being mistreated, and she's grateful for that. The closest I can get in Prisma Markers (since those are what I have on hand right now) is "Light Cerulean Blue".
Legacy - Red
Guardian's are known for wearing bright colors. It's tradition for them to do so, and probably comes from the idea that bright colors can help lift moods. Legacy has beige/tan fur, so bright colors really show well on him. "Crimson Red" is the Prismacolor I would use for his color.
Quillen - Blood Red
Quillen is the dark side of Legacy, so it's approiate that the color associated with him be a darker version of Legacy's. To get this color with markers, I'd lay down "Tuscan Red", the overlay it with "Crimson Red". (I don't have many reds in my marker collection at this time. That'll change soon.)
Jerome - Gold
He is called the Golden Guardian. Jerome's coloration is completly gold, except for his green eyes. He was orignally supposed to be copper (how I described the character the Delphin version came from) as I have a personal dislike of gold, but I was quite inept at getting that coppery color while Photoshopping his character picture and it came out gold... He's not the gaudy "omgGOLD!" like a piece of jewelery, but a shimmery, orange-yellow. "Spanish Orange" with an overlay of "Canary Yellow" is the closest I can get in the markers I have.
Kione - Dark Grey
Kione prefers darker colors. Makes it asier for him to hide. His fur color is a very dark red (darker than the color associated with Quillen), and his mane a dark, silvery grey. The color I see in my mind for his would be "Cool Grey 80%", while the color swatch I use to Photoshop it came from the color of one of my bras. (Hey, you use what you can.)
Snowhawk - Light Violet
The reason why violet is her color is obvious: it's her fur color. The specific shade changes when she shifts to Phase 3, and she goes more pastel in general, but it's always light violet. The closet color I have is "Violet Mist".
Q & A
Why is Snowhawk described (and drawn and colored) in/ accented with (whatever color) when she's with (who ever)?
She tends to pick up the color of the one she's with. Legacy's the exception as the color isn't so much a red as a pink. You can think of it as a way to display that information.
There, after working on that since Friday, it's done... and still not as complete as I'd like. :p

Q: Are there "real" humans in the PS world, or are they just a form others take? Also, if they are "real" can they also shapeshift, or is this restricted to the other three?
A: Yes, there are real humans. Humans, for the most part, have little magical talents. If anything, they fear the shape-shifting magics of the morphics. Like humans on Earth, they don't understand it, therefore it is evil and must be destroyed or surpressed.
Now, that's just humans in general. There are those with magic, and those that can shape-shift, but they are few and far between since they had to deal with the slavers as well. All magic using humans, and those with a different apperance than a "normal" human were grouped into sub-classes. The main ones are Elves, Weres, and Vampires. Common names used since most people have an idea of what those are, but I may change them in the future (Vampires excepted).
Elves, like most elvish types in other worlds, have pointed ears. The amout of magic they possess depends on the individual in question. Some have just a few abilities, others have all out, ubermage abilities. Usually, they are quite effeminate in apperance.
Weres are humans that have the ability to shape-shift. Again, the extent of this depends on the individual. Some can shift to just one form outside of their true form while (a much, much smaller number of) others have seemingly infinate forms. Most do not have the ability to shift to any thing extremly small or extremly large (insect or elephant, for example). Average number of forms is two, not including their human form.
The third of the main sub-classes is the Vampire. A Vampire's strength and abilities are directly depentant on two things: their sire and the time they've been a Vampire. They do feed off the blood of others, and can also eat some mortal food. (They have a particular fondness for wine.) Some have Elf-like ears. In general, most are very attractive. The attractivness is a survival method. Makes it easier to seduce the prey into willingly give up their life. Vampires are opportunistic hunters, they won't fight if they don't have to. After some 50 years or so, a Vampire can walk around in daylight like any other being with no ill effects. They are the hardest to distinguish from a normal human.
As a side note, the Vampire is a sub-class of all the races of the world, the Avizon being the one exception.

Well, after deleting the eighty-seven entires that were once here, I have decided to restart the community. My purpose is to provide information about the world Past Secrets (PS) takes place in, and to answer questions from my readers.
Some history of the story itself: I started it October 19, 2000, writing the entire first chapter while I was at work one evening. I came home and typed the chapter, posting it on an old, now long gone website of mine. I believe it was on FreeServers, but I would have to check my IRC logs. It was then posted on my now gone spot in the Wyvern's Library on Elfwood. The "offical" anniversary/birthday of PS is October 20.
I wrote, typed, and posted twenty-two chapters before I came to a point of complet and utter disgust with the first sixteen chapters, the part referred to as Section One. New chapters were suspended in late 2002 (December) and I began to rewrite those chapters. The rewrite started January 20, 2003.
I began posting the new, edited chapters on October 20, 2003 (though most had been typed and edited for a couple months by the time they were posted). My intention then was to post five chapters each of the following months, having all fifteen chapters posted by December 20, 2003. Life got in the way shortly after the first five chapters were posted, and I again put writing on hiatus until January 2004.
As of this time, I am typing on Chapter Ten. Chapter Fifteen has yet to be finished, but should not be too much trouble. Once all fifteen chapters are typed, I will be editing Chapters Sixteen through Twenty-One, and typing Chapters Twenty-Two and Twenty-Three.

Also, there was a time where Past Secrets was in comic form. This time was somewhat short lived as I was having work issues... then KeenSpace blew up and the site was lost. There are still plans to go back to that once the rewrite is finshed for Section One. All the old comics are still around, and may someday be reposted, but there are no solid plans for that right now.
