Further to my last post, I thought I'd take a stab in the dark poll but not a poll, to see who might be interested in writing a story (300 words or more) for December's thingie (name to be decided later). This is for the archive, not the community, so all stories would need to be finished in advance of the upload day.

Basically, I'd like to see 31 of the 54 fandom and 1 original categories highlighted every day of December (smaller fandoms will, hopefully, have their own thing sometime during the month, too).

If a fandom has more than one major pairing (not minor or obscure pairings, they'll be dealt with in the smaller fandom thingie) it might also be possible to have a story from each pairing on that fandom's day: such as Olivia/Alex and Olivia/Casey on SVU day.

So, if you're interested, please comment to this post listing the fandoms you'd be willing to write for (the more fandoms you can manage, the better).

This may come to nothing, but then again, it may not.

ETA: This is for main pairings in a particular fandom. Minor pairings and OFCs (unless in non-pairing fandoms like Jane Bond) will be included in the minor fandoms thingie.

Also, if it does look as if we've got enough volunteers, I'll e-mail you with your assignment and due date early next week.

I'm still at a bit of a lose as to how to celebrate the Christmas/New Year season. I did think of having an invitational, where authors would be approached and, if they agreed, would produce a single piece of fiction for a specific fandom, which would then be uploaded on a specific day. That way you'd have a new story every day, covering 31 fandoms in total. The problem, of course, is that I don't know if I'd have 31 people with the time to do it (I've left it a bit late), and it might be a tad too similar to the calendar (that's a tradition - and always very good - so I wouldn't want to encroach).

The only suggestion I've had is for Christmas/New Year themed recommendations and links, but again, I'm not sure if I've left that too late.

I'd have liked to do another video advent calendar (or even combine that with a fics) but my mind is a little blank as to clips I could use... any suggestions for that, would be very much appreciated.

Anyway, enough of me babbling, go check out the fics.

Summary/Spoilers: This is a retelling of the episode ‘Somebody’s Watching’. The BAU team is on the hunt for a killer stalking an actress. Meanwhile Jennifer Jareau begins dating the actress’s best friend, unaware she’s the stalker they’re searching for. Yeah that’s right I just revealed the ending of the episode, but it’s not possible to write this story without revealing it anyway. Numerous story revelations are revealed.

A/N: This episode not only had two women I really like (A.J. Cook and Katheryn Winnick) together, but the first portrayal of gay characters on Criminal Minds, with Katheryn being one of them. It had so many things going for it, but instead it was disappointing. A.J. and Katheryn’s screen time was minimal, they never appeared onscreen together, and the gay portrayals were terrible. Ironically Maggie Lowe is probably still the best portrayed gay character on the series. So I decided to write this episode the way it should’ve gone. Oh and that “lesbian” crushing on Gideon earlier in the episode because he reminded her of her dad? That scene alone warrants her getting erased from the story.

I’ve taking some liberties with the storyline, mainly Natalia never slept with Frank, hence no engagement etc. So our girls have been just continuing forward raising Emma and getting closer to each other though they are still technically just friends, but that will change… This is a hurt/comfort story so they are headed on a rough ride.

Author’s Note: This is a sequel to Almost Home (which can be found on Burning City and Incandescent Fire) and takes place a few weeks after the ending of that story. It would be extremely helpful were you to read that story first, in order to understand Ava’s return to Springfield, her relationship with Olivia and, of course, the kittens. This is set in October of 2009 and supposes an angst-free Otalia storyline, one decidedly lacking in pregnant Natalia, or any mention of a Frankenbaby. In this universe, Natalia did not run off and break Olivia’s heart, she is still working for Blake Marler, and all is well in the Otalia universe. Sue me. I find all the angst unnecessary and annoying.

 

Also, in my universe, Phillip is not dead or dying, nor is Jeffrey dead (although not because Natalia doesn’t want him to be), and he and Reva are still together. Again, too much angst causes wrinkles.
