11-01-09 Nashville Concert Experience
So, last night was pretty epic for me. I haven't seen Paramore live since 2007 Warped Tour. It was amazing.
So, last night, I got to the Ryman around 7:40, and headed straight into the stage-area (for my lack of a techinical term) and found my seat. WOW. That place might not have been tiny, but it was a lot smaller than I was expecting it to be, since I'm not a huge fan of country and never really seen a show outside of Rockettown or the Somet Center (we sat in pews. Pretty cool). I missed most of Paper Route, though, sadly, cause I was waiting in the merch line to get a t-shirt. That line never budged. I came back right as Josh was exitting the stage after he did the song with Paper Route (Sorry, I don't know the name of the song. I'm more of a Swellers fan than a Paper Route one.) Though, for the rest of the set, they were pretty cool. The guy next to me was totally into them, and for a while, he seemed like the only one, but they eventually got the rest of the crowd kind of moving for them.
During the little intermission-set-change thing, everyone started like, rushing the balcony and stuff. I heard everyone yelling "TAYLOR! TAYLOR!" so of course, I thought it was Taylor York, but when I went to go see who it was, it was T-Swift. I thought it was totally sweet of her to come, but I felt really bad for her since EVERYONE rushed her. These two ten year old girls went as far as tried to get into the balcony seating area to get a picture with her Speaking of the ten year old guys behind me, they were annoying as fuck. It was the only downside of the concert, but the only songs they knew were Misery Business and Decode, and the entire time they bitched about "HOW COME THEY WON'T PLAY DECODE OR MISE
I was really impressed with the show. They all seemed into it-even Josh. Taylor reminded me a of a wild monkey, with the way he was ALWAYS moving, never slowed down. I'm pretty sure the blue in Hayley's hair isn't temp-it looks a lot better and a lot cleaner last night than it did in some of the pictures. I'm pretty sure it was after Decode, they did the Miracle Intro again. WOW. I totally meant to record it, but I was in the back and security was all over your ass if you had your camera up for more than five seconds. But still, it was an AMAZINg display. They were ALL really into it-Hayley and Josh were both on the ground during it. After that, they went off until their encore, and this time only Josh and Hayley came out. Josh had an unplugged acoustic guitar, and Hayley made a little speech about how since we were in the Original Grande Ol' Opry and we were in a Country house, they'd been listening to country music a lot more, and they started to play without the mics or anything, because that's how it used to be done at the Ryman. It was really cool, since people were trying to cheer and stuff while she was singing without the mic, and someone would yell and everyone would go "SHH!!!" to them. Though, even without the mic, I could still hear her pretty well.
After that, Josh switched to a plugged up acoustic guitar and Hayley got an old fashioned mic and began to play "The Only Exception". It might be my least favorite song off of BNE, but it was absolutely beautiful. Then, the rest of the band came out and the finished up the usual setlist for the tour, with Paper Route coming out for BBBB.
