ana voog, lilli voog and a Mission from God(ess)

[06 Aug 2007|09:42am]

firewheelvortex

Ana Voog, writing about herself, and her new baby Lili.
it is interesting to me how what i share with the world tends to either bring out the incredible darkness in others, or the side of light.

here are two completely opposite responses i received today in regards to lili, her condition, and me being the mother of her.it is interesting to me how what i share with the world tends to either bring out the incredible darkness in others, or the side of light.

I won't quote either - suffice it to say that those who approve seem to me to be better people than those who view Lili as a punishment for her "sins" of "displaying her private parts." The facinating thing about ana, of course, is that she doesn't have any parts she considers private - or really, any moment in her life, any point of process in her art (which is both varied, significant and collectable) or the slightest hint of shame about being either naked or poor.

Ana's appeal is not based on the violation of taboos or convention - you can find tons of people on yahoo who get all wet and messy violating socal taboos in many ways, It's not that she's libertine, or transgressive, or even particularly focused on the niche of "Alt Porn."

Hell, anacam.com would probably be a lot more popular if she focused on doing porn. But as far as this non-subscriber can tell, she does not. As a fellow starving artist, I've never shelled out for a membership, and while I subscribe to her newsletter, I've been far too busy with politics to open the images. I can't quite bear to delete them, though. It could be anything - from deconstructions of pornographic images into laugh out loud parody to her latest knitting project to her covering herself in paint and body-printing a wall, not to paint the wall so much as to capture the act of painting it.

She is a performance artist, and is dedicated to it full time, even when asleep. Anyone involved with her is live on cam too, and she hides nothing from anyone - not even family.

Some obviously consider it depraved. I call it art - and it's ballsier art than I can even contemplate. There is no place in my realm for the inclusion of failure in my art. But failure is part of the whole artistic process and is of course included. She simply does not CARE if what she tries works.

I cannot imagine a better person to raise a child. Why? Well, I AM going to quote one viciously negative remark, after all.

"So, this narcissistic exhibitionist, by the power vested in her, brought bad Karma on you for expressing an opinion??? Such self-import!!

I think the G*dess was very wise. A "normal" child would have a miserable life of humiliation and embarrassment that her mother made a living by constantly photographing her private parts for the world. My guess is that when the attention and novelty wears off, the grandparents will be raising the wee one. Sickness; it's what's for breakfast."

It's just stunning how correct this person is while missing the point of her own words entirely. I rather doubt that the grandparents will be raising the child, but it's nice that lilli has them. Lilli and Goddess chose well, I think, for ana will never be ashamed of lilli, nor will she be expected to be anything other than who she is. And naked or not, ana is a wonderful example of being exactly who you are, with neither shame, bitterness nor concern for the opinions of those who do not know any better.

And of course, the best thing is that ana has time to be a mom, because she IS in front of the camera all the time, and that camera is at home.

I imagine that ana is an exhibitionist, in a sexual sense. To a degree, at least. But she, unlike most people who have sexual kinks and fetishes, has taken it as a fact about herself, stared into the abyss of her own nature and then asked herself, "well, NOW what?"

Having accepted who she is - she proceeds to explore it with both vision clear ethical boundries, and both respect and concern for others. It has not taken over her life - like such "sins" did for the infamous Ted Haggard - but rather allowed them to be part of her whole.

Another thing about ana that distinguishes her from other "camgirls." She does not pander to sexual fantasies, she involves her viewers in her life - and to an amazing extent, they have become a vast, amorphous extended family. Hm. I suppose I count that way too, a distant cousin at several removes who doesn't drop by often enough. But then, ana by her nature demands a reciprocal sharing that is a challenge and an inspiration to me. I try to be as open and free as her, but it's somewhat against the current of my nature.

This is quite aside from my shrewd assessment of the commercial interest in my hairy pot belly.

No, her peculiar combination of artistic presentation and the astonishing innocence that makes using her breasts as canvas as interesting to her - and her audience - as knitting a hat can be terrifying. She explodes the bounds of context, in which there is a place for performance artists, and fabric artists and webcam girls showing us their pink bits at 9.95 a minute.

She may or may not arouse you on any given day. She may inspire the hell out of you, perhaps even literally. And we could all use less hell and a great deal more inspiration.

"Take a bite - it'll make a pagan of you."

[ mood | calm ]

If you are into embracing neuro-diversity, this event is not to be missed. It's great for the whole family and even offers a VEGAN cafeteria! I would have posted it here sooner but I just found this community last night. Read on...

Please circulate widely:

Autism Network International presents
AUTREAT 2007

Autreat is a retreat-style conference run by autistic people, for
autistic people and our friends and families. It is an opportunity for
autistic people and those with related developmental differences, our
friends and supporters to come together, discover and explore autistic
connections, and develop advocacy skills, all in an autistic-friendly
environment. Autreat focuses on positive living with autism, NOT on
causes, cures, or ways to make us more normal. We have an exciting
lineup of presentations on a variety of subjects of interest to the
Autistic community, including emotions, parenting, testing,
self-advocacy skills, neurodiversity, autistic people in Japan, and
more. Autreat has been approved to offer Continuing Education Units
through the Center on Human Policy at Syracuse University. =20
Autreat 2007 will take place on Monday-Friday, June 25-29, 2007 at a
small college campus in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, area. The campus
has plenty of open space for walking, recreation, and enjoying the
outdoors. Lodging is in a residence hall with two to four people per
room. Registration includes a supervised activity program for children
and teens under 18. For fee information, registration form, a list of
workshops, and further autreat information, check out ANI's website at:

Interesting new ideas on BPD and Autism

[23 Apr 2007|11:12am]

If the basis of borderline personality disorder is NOT trauma and it is NOT mood for everyone, what could the basis actually be? An Australian study by Leanne Sidis in the fall of last year showed a remarkable thing. Her famous "gamma study," showed a similar breakdown in the frontal and posterior brain networks of those diagnosed with BPD. This breakdown is similar to that seen in people with ADD and with autism.

New Community: Freedom of Being

[27 Aug 2005|04:35am]

effrenata
I've just started a new community, [info]freedomofbeing:

This community is about conscious self-creation, the freedom to choose one's own identity. Anything pertaining to this topic can be explored here on metaphysical, philosophical, spiritual, artistic, personal, scientific, technological, social, and political levels. What does it mean to have an identity? To construct one's own identity? How does individual identity relate to group identity? What changes can we make in ourselves, and how do these foster changes in society?

From the pro- Self Creation point of view, Freedom of Being is the first and most essential of all freedoms, as well as the ultimate freedom. By changing ourselves, we change the world, one person at a time. The only ideology promoted here is the right of each individual to make that choice for her- or himself.

One Devient that doesn't brag enough...

I love ana voog's work. Especially when she works live and  naked. And no, not because she's naked. Not exactly. Ana is a Deviant Artist, but a huge majority of her work is elsewhere and I really think you should take the time to have a peek. The image in the cut will explain it for you.

This is one image from her newsletter series that just landed in my email box. Ana, being ana, is somewhat hit or miss because she's so damn spontainious, and like me, cannot or will not focus on anything just because it will bring a few more pennies or a little more attention from a particuar niche. Before this, she was taking pictures of roadkill for a few days.

ana is one of those artists who's primary tool is themselves. She crochets hats. She sings. She dances. She writes her own lyrics.  She does performance art. And she, on occasion, poses naked, just her and her live  camera. The limitation works for her, and ana's body is so much her instrument, it's beautiful to have it wail downstage front, without a visual "wall of sound."

This image is one of a dozen or so, and it was difficult to pick which was most impressive... but finally I settled on this one.

artistic nudity )

I like this better than roadkill. Your milage may vary... so wait a few days.

My insticts tell me that ana is going to be considered an extremely important artist sometime in the future, long after it ceases to matter to her, which is a damn shame and the fate of most of us artists. But it's the fate of most people to never hear of Important Artists until the hype has established them as Important Artists.

As an artist, though, I know the elements. Design. Visual impact. Composition. Visual impact. A little artistic nudity is never amiss. But finally, all art is about something visceral, personal and important to the artist. Otherwise, it's just illustration; a technical excercise. While sometimes that finds it's way into museums, it rarely finds it's way into our hearts.

Ana does. So kick her a few bucks and join her in her process, and buy some of her stuff while you can still see her sparkle back at you.

Foster father never charged for molestation - Just for PUBLICISING it!

[18 Jun 2005|07:05pm]

firewheelvortex
[ mood | angry ]

But we do it to "protect the children!"

Mia was rescued in 2003 during an internet child porn sting, from the adoptive parent, Mattew Alan Mancuso, who had adopted her from a Russian orphanage.  Mia was discovered during the raid, and turned over to the foster care system. In this case, she lucked out, and found a foster parent able to support and understand her.

All her foster parent  was charged with was what he was convicted for; distribution of child pornography, for which he is serving 15 years.  No charges were ever laid for five years of abuse, rape and ultimately starvation which was intended to make her more "photogenic."

Girl Who Had No Name Finds Road to Healing

By Maggie Farley Times Staff Writer Sat Jun 18, 7:55 AM ET

NEW YORK — Mea, 12, didn't know everyone was looking for her.

She wasn't aware that concerned police officers thought she was caught in a nightmare of abuse, reflected in hundreds of sexually explicit photos of her on the Internet.

The man Mea said abused and photographed her for five years, Matthew Alan Mancuso, had been caught in an Internet child pornography sting in 2003 and is serving 15 years in prison. He was her adoptive father.

Mea was placed in the care of Faith, a gutsy 28-year-old who legally adopted her a year ago. They moved far from the quiet hamlet in Pennsylvania where Mancuso stole Mea's childhood.

Mea — whose friends know her by another name — and Faith are fiercely protective of their privacy and asked that where they live be kept secret and that their last name not be used.

But they are willing to talk about what happened because they want Mancuso to stay in prison for the rest of his life.

They hope to see him prosecuted on additional charges for what Mea has described to police as five years of rape and abuse for which he has yet to face justice. And though it is difficult to think of him at all, Mea is willing to testify.

Oddly, she'd never been asked.  Allegheny County allowed the feds to take over the case - and the feds had neither the interest, nor the jurisdiction to prosecute Mancuso for child abuse, child neglect, child exploitation and child rape.  Hm. and possibly even white slavery; she was obtained from Russia with partially forged papers.

His 15-year sentence derives only from the child pornography charges; he has not been prosecuted for his alleged systematic rape and abuse of his adopted daughter.

In Pennsylvania, the Allegheny County police set aside their charges while the federal authorities tried their case. Faith thought they had been too slow to resume the prosecution — one detective told her there was no hurry since Mancuso had 13 years to go.

"That made me so angry," she said. "I'm in a hurry. Mea is in a hurry. She wants to close the door on this, and she doesn't want to worry about that guy getting out of prison when she is 25. She wants him in there for life."

Faith said that the Allegheny County district attorney told her at one point that they would not prosecute rape charges because they didn't think Mea was ready to testify. When Faith passed that on to Mea, the normally soft-spoken girl demanded to speak to the D.A.

Faith dialed the phone and handed it to her.

"She said, 'I want to know why you dropped the charges. You didn't ask me, and I do want to testify,' " Faith recalled.

Well, she didn't apparently get a good answer. So last month, Faith called an Orlando television station, WESH, and allowed it to do a story, obscuring Mea's face.

Three weeks later after the story aired nationally, the DA's office announced Mancuso would be arraigned "soon" on 11 additional counts, including rape.

So is it just me, or is it somewhat odd that when you have the evidence to nail a creep like Mancuso for rape - and photos make wonderful evidence, that the only "crime" is the photo itself? Or is it that the Allegheny County DA is concerned about what the girl might say in court, what might be elicited about the community during cross-examination. After all, the advice and aid to bring her to this country, legally adopt her with forged papers and then fall off the radar entirely while spreading her image all over the internet probably required a little help from other people. Quite possibly people in authority. Good, upstanding "pillars of the community."

Might be interesting to see who has suddenly relocated, eh?

But anyway, it's a perspective piece on the marriage debate, and I think there might be a thought or two in it that may not have occured to many folks.

Marriage Debate

[27 Feb 2004|10:56am]

firewheelvortex
[ mood | determined ]

President Bush's determination to push a constitutional amendment to override individual state's decisions about marrage definitions is troubling enough, but the actual wording of the amendment is apparently more troubling still.

A lawer speaks to Andrew Sullivan
about the Constitutional implications:

By including a provision regulating the most intimate of relationships into the Constitution, the traditional analysis that the court has used to limit government power will be fundamentally changed and the right to privacy, if it is not destroyed completely, will be severely curtailed. As a result, decisions like Roe v. Wade, (Abortion), Griswold v. Connecticut (Birth Control), Lawrence v. Texas (Private Sexual Acts), will all be fair game for re-analysis under this new jurisprudential regime as the Constitutional foundation for those decisions will have been altered. A brilliant strategy really, with one amendment the religious right could wipe out access to birth control, abortion, and even non-procreative sex (as Senator Santorum so eagerly wants to do).

This is being presented to the majority of americans as a biblically defined, approved-by-the-founders marriage definition.

One fellow wrote to Sen. Harry Reid with a detailed breakdown of what the Bible REALLY says about marriage. I've included tools on the page to send your version to your senator, your local state officials, your local newspaper and of course, there's the usual ability to send the page to any friend you know.

Please pass this around, and thank you very much.

The original version was hosed, my apologies to all.

Alternaporn is a new philosophical and aesthetic movement that seems to have evolved from the art of Pat Califa and Mapplethorpe, who both focused on the individual as sexual being, rather than sexual object.

For Example... (artistic nudity) )

Crossposted to [info]bemorecynical for the libertarian implication (and because Bill likes boobs, of course), [info]elfwoodplugs because of the elfen quality of some of these people will inspire y'all, [info]erotic_artforms and [info]darklinks for the obvious reasons and [info]paradigmshifter as an example of a critical paradigm shift that I believe will eventually lead to a culture much less likely to sexually abuse and exploit it's members.

I know the latter is an unconventional idea. So explain why you think I'm wrong. :)

Seriously, I very much wish to start a discussion about this. Yes, nice boobs and all; but that is very much not the point to what I've done for years and what these activists are doing. The fact they are making a buck out of it isn't the point - other than as a pretty damn accurate measure of success!

And yet, look at that picture of Zoya above. Is there anything conventional about that? Maybe for a niche fetish site, but thatstrangegirl is aimed right at the wanking youth of middle america.

Think on that for a moment, and think on WHERE the wanking youth of middle america have GOTTEN their image of women and their sexual role.
