Each piece was composed of many separate layers of paper stacked on top of each other, with some reflective, shiny material in there too.

Mango Vodka

Hey dudes!

My husband has really gotten into infusing vodka with different fruits and tasty things (My favorite so far is the lemon infused vodka. Oh man. Freakin' delish)

He just finished making a mango one and asked me to draw a label for one of the bottles he's sending back home for Christmas.

I colored it with Tria markers on a blank shipping label sticker thing.

I was lucky enough to be included in the Curious Unseen show at Meltdown Comics (7522 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA.), which is open until September 20th.

Matt Nolan and I collaborated together several months ago to make a full color fancy-shmancy book. When I say 'we collaborated', I mean Matt went through a stack of my sketchbooks, scanned in and colored his favorite drawings of mine, did all the layout for the book, wrestled with lulu.com, and has made "Hoopla: A Super Girly Sketchbook" available for buying. Man, that is my kind of collaborating.

Hoopla came out pretty fancy and we're really pleased with the results.

The most recent issue of Electroinc Gaming Monthly (just hitting shelves this week, with the "OMG MGS4/PS3 MAY NOT SUCK" cover) features another "guess the game name" puzzle in the back, this one space game-themed. (There was a request from the puzzle's writer to add a specific reference to The Last Starfighter, which lead me to polluting the whole piece with a bunch of non-game-related cameos from other sci-fi films and television shows):

Oh man, dudes, I was so super excited that Sara Ryan agreed to write a story for me to illustrate for the upcoming Snow Stories anthology!

Here's my finished pages, without any of the word balloons and text. Er, I guess the last page has a bit of text. But I have a flu or something so man I'm just gunna let that one be.

It was my boyfriend's birthday the other day, and part of his present was this painting (click to see the whole thing). It's girls-in-a-row (surprise!) with sort of a card theme, because he's pretty obsessed with poker. It's also kind of racy. I felt a little embarrassed in the frame store. So will you if you open it at work.

This one is for the staggeringly fabulous Lucy Knisley, of whom I am in awe. She wrote me a song once about a manamaid that I was supposed to make a little film out of, but time did not permit. It lives on as a painting, however. I imagine a manamaid would be very very soft.

Oh, I don't think I mentioned it on here, but I redid my website! It's got some new art, a new front page, and a shiny new shop section. Please enjoy verabee.com.

Sooo I've been updating DAR: A Super Girly Top Secret Comic Diary each week and I've got a small cache of comics to look through if you haven't checked in for a while. Or ever. Either way: comics!

The one labeled "Boobs" is probably not Safe For Work. Unless your work is totally radical. Or you work from home. In which case, Dress Code: Naked.

Also, THIS WEEKEND is the Portland Zine Symposium right here at the Portland State University. It's August 11 - 12th and admission is free - sounds pretty sweet to me. I will have a table, which is why I bring it up. See how I sneak that right in there? That is what I call 'sneaking in the info'.

It's entirely unfinished (no stained glass in the arches behind Tonks & Lupin, the Death Eater in the far background looks pretty clunky & silly, etc, etc) and I'll probably end up tweaking it farther when I find the time to actually color the damned thing, but ce la vie.

Been working on a kids' book about pirates lately, and so haven't had time to really draw much of anything else lately. I had a few spare days this week to knock out a few personal gaming-related doodles, and so here they are.
