DAR and Portland Zine Symposium
Sooo I've been updating DAR: A Super Girly Top Secret Comic Diary each week and I've got a small cache of comics to look through if you haven't checked in for a while. Or ever. Either way: comics!

DAR - Autobiography
For the Glory
Shit Stupid
Boobs
Portland Rain
DAR - Tea Kisses

The one labeled "Boobs" is probably not Safe For Work. Unless your work is totally radical. Or you work from home. In which case, Dress Code: Naked.

Also, THIS WEEKEND is the Portland Zine Symposium right here at the Portland State University. It's August 11 - 12th and admission is free - sounds pretty sweet to me. I will have a table, which is why I bring it up. See how I sneak that right in there? That is what I call 'sneaking in the info'.

Huh, that's weird- I'm not sure what you mean by my redirect links from 2003? The only redirect I have (That I know of) is www.darcomic.com, which takes the visitor to the webcomicsnation.com DAR account.

But I guess it works so whatever :)

What in the world is wrong with left breasts? They're generally the ones that misbehave. I sort of wish I had a pic of mine after surgery... I don't think the surgeons would have been too keen on taking a photo of it laying in a tray, however. Very happy to hear that your tumors were benign!

I think "Tea Kisses" is my fav. The rain one simply enforces the reason why I never bother with umbrellas when it rains!

This is why I'm rarely without a hat. (The rain, not left breasts.) Even on days like this, when the sun comes out while I'm at lunch, and I roast on the walk back.

It doesn't rain too much where I am, but I try to carry a hooded sweatshirt when I'm out during rain season, or a knit hat. My problem is that I get warm quickly, so when I go where it rains a lot, I don't dress warmly enough. I love getting soaked in the rain, so the water isn't the problem, it's the cold. Last rain experience: Scotland and freezing downpours, with a hoodie and a knit cap between me and the rain. Brr!

PS: Icon love! Tim Sale's art, isn't it?

It could very well be Sale's art. I believe I grabbed it from a page Neil Gaiman posted in his journal. I should have upped the contrast and the saturation a bit. I needed a DC comic icon, and Eddie there seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Plus it doubles so nicely for pensive.

I'm always getting tripped up by the heat vs. wet issue. The cold doesn't bother me much, but apparently being wet (and yes, cold and wet) does. Turns out this is why I like snow so much -- it's cold, but it's a dry cold. If I could just increase my damp resistance a bit, I'd be overheating much less.

It looks like it's from The Long Halloween. Eddie's perfect for a lot of things. Then again, he's my cartoon bf. I think everyone should have a cartoon sig other (though not Eddie, since I've marked him as my territory). Good for the soul.

My personal opinion is that I'd rather be cold and wet, since it gives me the perfect excuse to go huddle in a bath hot enough to cook lobsters in.

I guess I could use The Question, he's keen too. And voiced by the Re-animator! Or there's Morrison's The Fact, for great obscurity!

Yeah, I don't mind being cold and wet nearly so much if I have a lobster pot and some dry clothes in my immediate future.

Haha. I didn't mean it that way. =] I highly approve of Eddie being used in icons. Makes me happy to see that people do admit to liking him enough to use him in an icon. And yes. Jeffery Combs is always welcome. Have you seen him on The 4400? He plays a bit of a nutty doctor on that, though he isn't bringing bits of people back to life.

At the moment, I'm waiting for my lobster water to heat so I can fill the pot up. heh

Alas, I haven't seen The 4400. I hear good things about it, though. So many serieses, so little time...

I also asked that they show me the tumors and after I woke up from the anesthesia I politely asked where they were-- only to be informed that they had already shown me and that they were in the garbage now! I was too drugged to remember seeing them :-/

I did that when I had a couple of lumps under my left armpit removed. Only I remember seeing them since I was under "conscious sedation". Then again, I also remember the OR staff talking about rum and pirates at one point, and I was aware enough at the time to start talking to them about the online Puzzle Pirates game. The doctor had the anesthesiologist give me a little more happiness.

I kind of blinked at the semi-NSFW of the covers, but my current attitude at work has me really wanting to check out Boobs.

Hello, I just lurk here having discovered this place of coolness many moons ago (I'm a lowly comics writer) but I've had to e-mail your boob comic to the director of our organisation (does that make it work safe?)

For the record, I've never seen Matt as a British stereotype in your comics.

Well, stereotype was kinda the wrong word... more like I totally FIXATE UPON and ONLY portray examples of him Being British /:)

I cannot help that Britishness completely endears me.

People often don't realize their own behavior, which is why they react like that when shown themselves from another perspective.

So basically, you're fine.

See, someone at my job actually showed me her boob today, complete with nipple (it was totally innocent, ok?). And my boss flashed me once. So...looking at an illustration of boobs on the ol' work PC? ...they would all probably laugh and think it was awesome. In fact I may forward them this link...
