AboutWelcome to the Pantry, a community for people who enjoy the craft of preserving the harvest. Please feel free to share your tips and recipes for putting food by, whether this includes canning, freezing, drying, salt-curing or fermenting fresh food - or even making your own beer, sausage, cheese or confit. All types of recipes, questions and suggestions are very welcome! All recipes and techniques posted to this community are saved to the Memories, organised by topic to make them easy to find.
While food safety is of course important, this community encourages free discussion of all preservation techniques, including heritage and international recipes that would make the USDA reach for its smelling salts. It is perfectly appropriate to ask questions or raise concerns about safety, but there will be no moderation of posts based on safety issues. Therefore, please read the following disclaimer before proceeding to use any of the recipes you might find here.
