Free time
In light of the past week of server hell, all paid users get a free 10 days of service. Go click the link for details.

In other news, you guys are going to have your own paid-user database server in a few days too, so this should never happen again. The problems this past week were because all the slave databases were being slow, which you were sharing with free users.

Surely that money would be better spent paying for more hardware to prevent repeats of this in the future.

Between the choice of a reliable service or repeated 10 days free, i'd prefer the reliable service. Just a thought

That's one line of thought.

There other one is that "I paid for this and it was shitty."

That's why you have a choice to take it or not... I'm just saying it's there.

Thank you very much for the time and effort you and your staff have spent in fixing all the problems. This probably won't make much of a difference from all the other thanks and praise out there, but I truly am grateful that you all worked so hard to restore LiveJournal to its working condition and are upgrading it even as we speak. You have my gratitude.

Thanks again, Brad. I didn't notice any problems till the end, but a LOT of my friends did. If anything, a lot of people realized how essential lj is to their lives. Thanks thanks thanks for taking care of stuff and for having good business practices for when the best of intentions fall through.
