Chef Subcluster 8 Paid Time Reimbursement
If you haven't been following

lj_maintenance (recent maintenance announcements), we're offering another reimbursement for users who have been affected by the most recent Chef cluster moves:

...we'd like to apologize to users on Chef subcluster 8. For those users on this cluster with paid accounts, we would also like to offer you a one month extension of paid account time. If you have been affected by these problems, you can claim a free month of paid time here:

The claim tool will work for the next week [Correction: 2004-07-10 - 2004-07-17]. If you have friends who were affected and don't read this journal, let them know. If your account has expired in the last 2 days, you can buy a new one, then claim your extension when your paid account is active.

For this to apply you must:

Be a paid user when you use the reimbursement page
Be on Chef subcluster 8
Not be suspended, deleted, etc

It's like a dilbert strip I saw once. Something to the effect of:

"Hey, let's make this cost one million and one dollars. Then, let's have a million dollar rebate."

"Why don't we just make it cost a dollar?"

"Just wait for someone not to send in the rebate form."

LJ's not gonna auto-reimburse people if they're not seeking it out; if they were affected, they'd most likely find the information somehow. If they weren't, why give an extra month of paid features (which LJ is essentially swallowing the cost for)?

Thanks very much for the free month. I really appreciate it. I'm still having issues though...

Little things here and there. I still don't have any of my comments from yesterday showing up on my journal. And for some reason the layout isn't displaying the journal entry on the reply to page and was earlier. Some times it doesn't display my home page link. And sometimes it decides not to show the name of my journal.

Not a complaint but I'm halting work on customization of my journal until you guys get the situation straightened out. I don't want to lose any of the new stuff I'm fixing to do.

I understand you guys are working very hard to correct the situation I just thought you should be aware of some of the quirks still showing up.

	E-mail notifications is affected to all users, so it's not just porkchop server. In the recent announcement, they found what was wrong and they are now starting to send out the e-mails. So it should appear soon. (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)(Expand)

	I wonder if you're going to end up reimbursing other users too. I'm on Chef, Cluster 7 and my journal all but disappeared for a few hours. It's all back to normal now, so no biggie, but I know there are a few other people who are on the same cluster as me and were experiencing the same types of problems. 	This is making me feel better about paying for a year's worth of paid time before all the problems started occuring. I've had my style changed twice, personal info disappeared, comments and posts have also disappeared. It had become majorly annoying. The extra month is making me feel less like a fool for paying up for a year of time and extra userpics. (Reply to this)

I find it quite rude that you are reimbursing some members rather than all the members who have paid accounts and are not getting the services that they have paid for. I am on subcluster 7 and Ive been experiencing problems with entries, comments, and various other problems for a week or more now.

*shrug* But then again....maybe the rest of us just don't matter.
