Cat tails and ozone
My city has been under a high-ozone alert for the past few days, and the moon last night was tomato red. I wish I could have photographed it, but it was in a place where it was hidden at my house. My eyes were burning, and that sour sting is in the air. I just love summer, and its inversion layers...not. Have you ever noticed that if you talk to your cat, his or her tail moves? Try it sometime. Do stuff quietly around your cat, while it is awake, but watching you, and notice the tail. Then, start talking to your cat- and watch the tail. Pretty interesting, eh? Doesn't matter what you say to the cat, the tail will move. I wonder why? I thought this was a Gurney and Pixel thing, but Rolly does it too. |

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog disappears tomorrow, so if you haven't seen it yet, do so. Neil Patrick Harris is a good singer. And Nathan Fillion is an incredible ham. I'll admit that I am not terribly fond of musicals, but for a short-form thing, this isn't bad. Go watch it. |

Ok... I admit it.
I let my cynicism get the best of me regarding "The Dark Knight". I was, frankly, a bit weary of the whole Batman franchise, and judging from the half-full theater, so were a lot of people. The trailers for the movie were simply inadequate, but it was easily the best Heath Ledger was sadly, tragically perfect as the Joker. Clearly Oscar-worthy, even if you don't take into account his death... better than Nicholson. Christian Bale did a great job playing both of his major characters, Batman and Bruce Wayne. Finally, we have a Batman bringing some serious duality to the role! The directing and screenplay was strong, put together by the minds behind "Momento". Frankly, The Dark Knight's screenplay is superior... just as complex and innovative as that film, while resting on far more solid ground. The cinematography and action sequences were awe-inspiring at times. They used IMAX cameras to film several major scenes... and it shows, with images that look as good as a Frank Miller spash page. Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman were both as good as they could be, considering their roles, which were strengthened because both of them were given moral dillemas... as was Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent / Twoface, Gary Oldman as Police Commissioner Gordon... in fact, if there is one main theme in this movie, it is the moral challenge of being a good guy when faced with impossible moral dilemmas... all brought to us by the ultimate ringmaster of nihilistic chaos, the Joker. All in all, it was as good as it gets. But can they possibly do it again?! I'd like to see them try. Maybe I wasn't quite as weary of the Batman franchise as I thought. |

Weekend blathering
Decided to try something new so we ordered the chicken alfredo pasta from pizza hut. Yummy! Hunter ate a whole bowl. For dessert we have grapes, cherries and oranges in the fridge. :) Hunter is in the shower now after a half hour swim in the pool. Justa lazy Saturday! I took a nap this afternoon for an hour. For some reason I thought I'd have Hunter tomorrow until noon but Vin just told me they are going to Santa Monica pier for something.... so I'm taking Hunter back at 8:30am. SO I guess after that I'll be heading out to the boat because Brian told me to head out there early anyway. Maybe I'll get there around 10am. I don't know what we'll be doing but even if we just sit and watch movies on the boat and cuddle then it is all good :) |

NEW NEWS :D
So.... I gave my notice at the bookstore and will be working full time at the university. I just got tired of all the crap and it has been reinforced almost every day I have worked since I gave my notice. One more week. Yes, the university job is still temporary, but I am getting experience using their new computer system and hope to use that to get a permanent position. And, the hours are better, I have weekends off, and it's $2 more per hour. Just scary having no insurance when you are diabetic. |
