I bought this DVD with a collection of 15 New Zealand short films. It includes A Game With No Rules with Marton Csokas as well as The Lounge Bar and Walkshort with Harry Sinclair.

8:18PM - A two-part post...

Part 1 - Huge happy birthday wishes (although of course, I'm a bit late!) to Lawrence Makore!! *tosses confetti*



Part 2 - This seems to be the only pic I have of any of the stunt guys. Does anyone else have any they would be willing to share? *bats eyelashes & tries to look irresistable* Especially Sala and Lawrence. Screen caps of Lawrence from The Price of Milk would be nice too. :)

7:37PM - If you know you are going to fail, then fail gloriously!

In honour of her third Oscar nomination I present Cate Blanchett in the first of what I hope will be a series of 'head's up' posts about Aussie and Kiwi actors. There will be familiar faces and up and coming talent. If there's anyone in particular that you'd like to see drop me a note and I'll see what I can do.

Name: Catherine Elise Blanchett

DoB: May 14, 1969

Bio: Born in Melbourne, Australia to Robert Blanchett, a Texas-born United States Navy petty offucer and June, an Australian schoolteacher. Her father died of a heart attack when Cate was 10 years old. She has two siblings; older brother Bob and younger sister, Geneviève. She has been married to Andrew Upton for just over 10 years, they have two sons; Dashiell and Roman.

"He thought I was aloof and I thought he was arrogant. It just shows you how wrong you can be. But once he kissed me that was that."

Cate has starred in 29 movies, starting with 'Parklands' in 1996 to her Oscar, SAG and Golden Globe nominated performance in 'Notes on a Scandal' where she plays opposite Dame Judi Dench for the second time (their first joint venture being 'Shipping News').

"I had never done anything with blue screen before, or prosthetics, or anything like that. Lord of the Rings was like stepping into a videogame for me. It was another world completely. But, to be honest, I basically did it so that I could have the ears. I thought they would really work with my bare head."

Cate is currently filming 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' alongside Brad Pitt and Tilda Swinton, and has both 'The Golden Age' reprising her role as Queen Elizabeth and 'I'm Not There' with fellow Aussie Heath Ledger where they both take on the challenge of becoming Bob Dylan.

"I love strange choices. I'm always interested in people who depart from what is expected of them and go into new territory."

As of 2008, she and her husband will commence three-year contracts as artistic co-directors of the Sydney Theatre Company. The contracts include a clause that will allow either of them to take three months out each year to pursue other activities. So we can hope that Cate graces our screens again soon.

A long time ago I put in a request for pics of Chris Sadrinna from Garage Days which myth_adventure very sweetly helped me out with. Now I'm after the rest of the cast. Any pics of Kick Gurry, Pia Miranda, Andy Anderson (who absolutely made that movie!!), the delicious Mr. Csokas, or any of the others would be immensely appreciated - screen caps from the movie, from other shows, publicity photos, whatever you can come up with. I would really appreciate it! :)

4:31PM - Hello!

First off a huge round of applause to mouse_mistress for creating the comm, it's been a great sorce of delight. I have no intention of changing any of the rules of the community as I think that it's been running fine and if it ain't broke then don't fix it.

What I am hoping to do however is make it more active and introduce you all to some more of the gorgeous actors and actresses that the South Pacific boasts but that may not be well known outside of the region. I'll also keep you up to date with up-coming projects and new faces.

I welcome all suggestions for challenges and anything that might improve the comm as well as picture and fic posts just like we've had in the past.

My dear ladies,
As I'm sure you all are well aware, the time that I have been able to give to this community has become rarer and rarer. I simply have got too much on my plate to be able to give pac_con the time and energy that it deserves. I'm going to step down as moderator/maintainer. If any of you would be interested in taking over here for me, please let me know. This community will always be dear to me & I have every intention of visiting it as often as I can. I hate to see it fade away due to lack of interest. Maybe a new mod with more time/energy/talent than I have will be able to breathe life back into it again.

Many thanks to all of you who have made this community into something special. It means a lot to see so many other people who share my obsession affection for the Oceania guys. Again, thank you and much love to all of you.

After some thought, I've decided to go ahead and start a bi-weekly challenge here on pac_con. As kitty_trio said, hopefully it will be a way to pull more of us out of the woodwork and have some fun at the same time. So... how to go about this? You all probably have had a lot more experience at this than I have, but it seems fairly straightforward. I'll throw out a general topic and you have two weeks to write & submit a fic on that topic. Any length, any rating, any pairing (as long as at least one of the main characters is one of the Pacific boys) is welcome. At the end of the two weeks, I'll give out another topic & we'll start over again. Like I said, I've never done this before, so any suggestions or ideas are more than welcome. Also, if you have any suggestions for topics, please let me know.
