My not-so-decent account of Fabric Row.
So I ended up having to cart the younger siblings around today, which does NOT make for a good time fabric shopping...they're not much younger than me, but after the first few fabric stores, they were wandering farther away D: Plus my brother has a bad temperament when he's bored and he is impossible to deal with (seriously, don't even try to talk to the kid. he won't listen to a thing you say).
I had to make it quick. I jumped in a few stores, and most of them didn't have fur. I'd have to say, though, if you're a cosplayer or you love making costumes, you would love pretty much every store on the street. Screw JoAnn Fabrics. If you're not bothered much by price, Fabric Row is so much better. There are so many things to choose from, every store employee is nice and helpful, and, best of all, you can haggle.
Well, thanks to
littlewolflsI found Kincus' Fabrics, which is a fairly large fabric store. It carries a HUGE variety of fabrics, and has a whole back corner devoted to furs. It was like a freakin' fur wonderland back there XD There are bubble furs, plaid furs (wat?), animal prints, solids, your traditional craft and monster furs, high-quality shortpile, longpile shag (in several hard-to-find colors) that was so soft I wanted to take it all home.....etc.
The only problem? I was on a budget, and the shortpile white and black were both $30 a yard (on sale D:). Ouch. I don't have time to order things...so I got myself 2 yards of white and one of black (just barely enough to make a fursuit, as I just found out...glad i'm small). The guy gave me a discount because I originally wasn't going to buy in the first place, but he cut the price per yard down $10.
Oh, and I'm sorry
littlewolfls .......I forget the employee's name, but when he asked how I knew to get good fur here I told him "the tail guy sent me" XD And he said to tell you that they miss you over there :3
Bottom line? If you want hard-to-find or unique fur colors, if you're itching for good quality shortpiles and longpiles in solids or prints, or if you just want something out of the ordinary, go to Kincus' at 754 South 4ths Street, Philadelphia, PA. You'll be pleasantly surprised. If you're on a tight budget, I don't really reccommend it, unless you're great at haggling.
I hope this helps some Philly/PA furs out. I'm really sorry that it's such a crappy account. If I get there on a day without the sibs I'll definitely give you guys a better review of Fabric Row.
toodles :3
