    Couple of questions
-Are there any parody fansubs out there other than the ones done by FiverSubs? I loved their version of Boukenger Task 7 and I'm looking forward to watching their takes on Magiranger episodes after I get caught up on that.

I'd love to know if there are more out there.

-What exactly are those clear cans of soda(?) that are served at Jungle Karma Pizza all the time? I've never seen anything like them before.

    Curse those lucky Brits!
You're getting Power Rangers Dino Thunder: The Complete Series, Ninja Storm: The Complete Series, SPD: The Complete Series and Mystic Force: The Complete Series this summer.

If you're thinking of importing, you will need a region-free DVD player. Lek and I have one (possibly two) and the chance to have all of Dino Thunder on proper DVDs is extremely tempting. Frustrating after buying the five DVDs that Disney saw fit to release here, but very, very tempting. (Also tempting are the German DVD box sets of old school PR, but the audio issues with some of those releases makes them not nearly as tempting.)

I hope that Disney will notice how many people in North America are importing these and smack their foreheads and go, "Hey! We should release these in Region One, too!" But this is Disney we're talking about here, so the best we'll probably get is all of Jungle Fury on DVD, just like Operation Overdrive.

    Jungle Fury so far.
I watched all of Power Rangers Jungle Fury that's aired so far this week and I have to say, for me, this is the first decent (sometimes almost good) Power Rangers series since Dino Thunder.

Yes, the characterization and writing remain frustratingly inconsistent, but the Rangers (and just about everyone else) are so likeable that I'm willing to overlook those problems.

    Help Me Zordon!
So I'm in a pickle and need some help. Anyone remember the original speech Zordon gives Alpha 5 in the pilot, right after Rita Repulsa escapes? It's not "teenagers with attitude" or I'm pretty sure it's not. Zordon says something heroic and Alpha 5 stomps around and whines "Zordon, anything but TEENAGERS!"

I could really really REALLY use that speech, I needs it for a story. I can make something up, but it'd be better if I could get the actual speech.

    Thanks!!!

Why do I feel like I should be using an icon of Captain Mutiny?
Does anyone know of good, reliable non-torrent sources for older Power Rangers episodes?

I know about Rangerboard and have managed to get quite a few episodes from there, but my attempt to get Lightspeed Rescue was denied because the links were dead.

    ...help?

    Fanfic plagarizing?
I was checking the stats for my site tonight, and one of the main ones I check is "recent keywords." One of the recent ones was "zedden," which of course, leads to a few stories, since Ellen and I have been writing about Jamie since 1994. I was curious to see what else would come up with that, so I did a search myself.

What I found was surprising. Two different sites, both with a home domain page advertising MMO credits, one for Eve Online and one for FFXI, with sub-pages containing snippets of fanfics. Ellen confirmed that some of them were bits from her Trial Arc, but others weren't.

The sites are http://www.ffxigilstore.com and http://www.eveonlineiskstore.com If you wait for it to load, then use "select all," you'll see a line of itty-bitty numbers under the main image, links to the sub-pages. ffxigilstore has at least 50 sub pages.

It's somewhat surreal...for one thing, advertising gold farming with no way to contact or order. Also, the whole snippets of mixed fics on sub-pages. Trying to fill a domain? Any ideas?

    This just weirds me out.

    DVR=FAIL
Okay. I had the DVR setup to tape new eps of PROO on both ABC and ToonDisney. Yet, nothing's recorded for months...and I saw eps I didn't recognize on the TV the other night.

    DVR, you have failed me.

It likes to spontaneously drop my programming.

    Sigh.

    Jungle Fury action figures
The Jungle Fury action figures have started showing up in stores, though I haven't seen any in the stores I've been in lately. I imagine that'll change by next month.

Every ranger except for the girl gets a sound feature. Cute. )

Power Rangers: Super Legends website goes live
The website for the upcoming Power Rangers: Super Legends video game (for PS2 and PC) is now live.

So far it's mostly screenshots, a synopsis and details about gameplay.

Synopsis: Long thought to have been purified by Zordon's energy wave at the end of Power Rangers in Space, the dastardly Lord Zedd has reappeared in his old form. Concealed in a hidden dimension, he is interfering with the time stream, trying to alter the course of history to destroy every Power Ranger throughout time! Operating from the Halls of Legends, the new Super Ranger must gather a force of Power Rangers and artifacts from across time to break through into Lord Zedd's hidden dimension and restore the timeline!

And here's the website for the Nintendo DS version.

Synopsis: Emperor Grumm has set his sights upon the myth of the Hall of Legends, the resting place for the collected energies of Power Rangers across the universe. In his twisted mind he envisioned a world where his enemy's power is not only stolen, but used to make him a living god over all of creation. The Omega Ranger, aware of all timelines from within the Hall of Legends, discovers this plan and warns the Power Rangers to stand against it. For should the Hall of Legends fall into Grumm's hands, all would be lost.

I might have to pick up the PS2 version, because it sounds pretty cool. (And I actually have a PS2. heh.)

    Did I Miss Something?
Okay, so finally I got around to watching Once a Ranger (trouble with DVR, for me, is I record things, then wait MONTHS before getting all caught up with it).

Wow, Adam aged well. But one thing that seriously struck me was the lack of any original MMPR themes. When all the other Rangers fought/morphed, you heard their respective theme songs in the background (well, I don't know about Mystic Force; I didn't watch it long enough to pick out their theme). Adam just had generic energetic music.

I mean, not even "Go Fight Win," or any of the other MMPR anthems (hey, I had at least 2 of the MMPR music cassettes). Did Disney not get the rights to the music? Was Ron Wasserman being stingy?

Also, was it just me, or was Alpha's voice really off? I had trouble hearing it.

A never-before seen pitch reel for what became VR Troopers
SirStack over at funaroboard posted this: The original, never before seen, pilot presentation for CYBERTRON.

Yes, it's the show that went on to become VR Troopers. It's Jason David Frank in November 1993, playing a role destined to never be his by way of public demand. It's Doug Sloan as Tyler Steel, babyfaced and unassuming for what lie ahead of him as anything but an actor. It's Jamie Kennedy, long before he was a rich man's Seth Green, playing one half of a Bulk & Skull duo called Elmo & Scuzzy (in the scripts, Scuzzy went from being named Elvis to Cleetus). It's the gal who went on to play the Yellow Dark Ranger as Tao's niece! It's the same Tao, but kinda mixed with Prof. Hart! It's Gardner Baldwin as Cyrus Rikter, alias Grimlord! It's his son, Percy, not a nerd but a jock! It's a proto JB mixed with Albee named Mouse! (err, I think he might've been cut out of the presentation, but he IS on the full 10 minute mini-pilot which this pitch reel was made from, and will be posted maybe later this week). It's Mighty RAW's "Go Green Ranger" in its prototype form, except for a different JDF played character! It's Metalder, and nothing else extra! But sadly, though, no Jeb.

And you can find it here for the time being: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Px52AkqelEk

    Jason David Frank Q&A
Check out all seven parts here.

Despite a bunch of really stupid questions there's a few decent gems of info. For instance it's nice to hear that Disney (or should I say Bruce?) didn't even ATTEMPT to get JDF for "Once A Ranger". I guess it would have just made too much sense to try to get the biggest thorn in Rita and Zedd's side for a two-parter based around their son.

Thanks to Tommy on funaroboard for the heads up.

    Interested in PR history?
Check out this thread over on funaroboard.

Here's a tidbit: "White Light 1" had a close up of Tommy in the "Hidden Chamber", eyes closed, sweat apparent, smoke added to scene, showing his face "writing and grimacing". I guess they wanted to show becoming a Ranger from scratch was painful.

"Once A Ranger Part One" now online
    Legally, even!

It's available over at jetix.tv. Click on "Watch more video" and that'll take you to the Disney XD site where you can watch it via their streaming player. It's not perfect and you have to sit through commercials, but if you just can't wait...
