RP Booty Call!
I'm not sure how many people I'll flush out of the woodworks with this, but I'll give it a go! It worked pretty well in the Phoenix Wright fandom I'm in (though another person did this, not me), so~

Anybody up for Last Exile-based RP?

I prefer to play Sophia, but I can probably handle pretty much anybody. If you're up for romance (or smut XD), preferred pairings are Alex/Sophia and Vincent/Sophia, but ask and I might say yes!. Pre-series, during, or post, doesn't matter. Hell, even Alternate Universe RPs are cool! I mean, wouldn't you want to see the characters at college or something? Maybe fighting demons ala Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

I can do non-romance, of course (though I do loves me some drama, and some smut). I don't really like group RPs, but I'll give stuff a shot~

Hopefully, even if you're not interested in RPing with me, you'll find somebody else in the comments who you are!

So, if you're at all interested in LE RP, whether it be with me or with whoever, leave a comment!

RP? I could probably be talked into it. I've been keeping an eye out for interesting RP opportunities. Are you thinking of a journal-based game or some other format?

Hrm. I could do journal (though I rarely do).... I tend to do more of AIM/MSN RPs, simply because I remember to respond to them more easily. XD Long format posts (AKA, paragraphs and such)...

What do you lean towards? :3

I've done it all to be honest, AIM, MUSH, journal-based and play by email. I think which format works best depends entirely on how many people you've got playing. If it's just two or three people, it's manageable in AIM, if you've got more than three, you need a more 'static' format like journal or email to accommodate everybody.

Makes sense. :3 I just tend to not have luck in group RPs... I don't know if it's because I'm too delicate or whatever, but I tend to get pushed aside or other strange things XD

Well, once you're dealing with multiple people, you have to kind of let someone play 'gatekeeper' so that everybody gets equal time. I understand the lure of one on one, though.

I actually need to log off now, but I'll check back on this thread tomorrow.

Part of it is also that you can do quick one-shots if a plot bunny won't leave you alone XD

Mostly, it's just what I'm used to, I guess. :3

I wonder - think maybe we should band together and make a Last Exile journal RP? Not a pan-fandom one, but just LE... I know there used to be one a few years ago (I was in it), but it died.

I might be interested in joining if someone were to make one, but there may not be enough material / people to keep one alive. LE is obscure enough that we'd probably never have enough people to fill out the entire cast, and we'd need a capable storyteller and a lot of plot ideas to keep the story moving. Just have people play who they want and do things aimlessly and it will fall apart eventually. A good RP requires a lot of thought and dedication. The successful fan-based RPGs on livejournal tend to be pan-fandom or based on large enough fandoms that a ton of people join and keep it moving.

I'm pretty busy myself in [info]wastedlands. They make an effort to introduce new elements in the world to interact with and there are lots of fascinating characters (though no LE characters except Dio T.T) to interact with. There are map areas, NPCs, and things like game-wide threats that get introduced. Basically, there's always something for a character to do or explore, and the likelihood is they can meet new characters easily (if it's within their personality to do so). That's why I thought it might be a good choice if people want to RP LE. Best part about it is all the moderation and creative ends are taken care of :3 but there's still a lot of room to be creative on your own.

That's a very good point - and the only time you could really set the RP and have most of the characters available would be the span of time between Claus and Lavie coming aboard and when Sophia leaves for the capital. Plus I'm totally not suited for running something that in-depth currently.

Wastedlands sounds interesting, though, and I'll certainly give it a look. :3

Either that, or the space after the series where several of the characters are dead and there's relatively no conflict.

I like post-series, but then again, look at my favorite characters XD I have all sorts of political intrigue in my head, but that only concerns a very few characters.

Fanfic, amirite?

It does seem a little intimidating at first -- I haven't been in a large-scale RPG in years and I was a bit overwhelmed myself, despite my friends moderating the game. If you'd like, hit me up on AIM -- etude on dstring, and I'll help you out if you're confused about anything. Once you get into the flow of things, it's really quite simple and fun.

I should warn you though, I just recently bought a DSlite so may be gone for intervals. >>;
