sofie@werkers.net AboutIn the tradition of Overheard In New York and its many spawn, this is Overheard In Edinburgh, for funny, silly, stupid, or just plain intriguing snippets of conversation you catch in or around Edinburgh.
Rules
- Neither an idiot nor an arsehole be. You have the right to express your opinion. Other people have the right to call you on said opinion. The mod has the right to freeze or screen a thread, put you on moderated status for posts and/or comments, or ban your arse altogether, depending on mood.
- Off-topic posts are bad, mmkay? If the mod gets to your post before anyone else comments, your post will be deleted, and you'll be put on moderated status for posting until you've proven that you've learned your lesson and the mod gets around to granting you full access again. If there are already comments to your post, it will be considered a free-for-all for other members to bitch at you. You'll still be moderated, of course. Repeat offenders will be banned, and any variation on the phrase "Mods, feel free to delete this if it's off-topic" will get you banned without a second chance, ever. Ditto for off-topic posts with an overheard quote attached "to make it legal." And yes, introduction posts count as off-topic.
(Note that this only applies to actual posts. Comments can go off-topic as the fancy takes you.) - English, motherfucker, do you speak it? If you post in leetspeak, you will be banned, no second chances, no questions asked. Excessive typos or spelling mistakes will get you a warning, then put on moderated status, then banned with each subsequent infraction. Whinging about this rule will be punished by same.
- Respect other people's friends pages. If you post in "forced" colours (i.e. anything that doesn't change when other people see it on their own friendslist), you will be put on moderated status. If you use the <marquee>, <blink>, or other fancypants annoying shit, you will be put on moderated status. If you post an entire entry in tiny emo font, you will be put on moderated status. Repeat offenders, as usual, will be banned.
- Do not taunt Happy Fun Mod. The mod is lazy, but when action is actually taken, there will be no appeal, especially not if you're also breaking rule #1 in the process. Backchat makes for a grumpy mod, and grumpy mods get itchy banning fingers. If you really want to appeal, use the e-mail address above, and be polite about it.
