| About: | This community is for those who have been clinically anorexic in the past, but have since recovered on some level and are now clinically overweight. "Overweight" people with a history of anorexia (bulimia, too) face special issues in their recovery. They must learn to deal with being an above-average weight without relapsing back into past anorexic (or bulimic) habits. For example, a chubbier person may be told by a doctor to shed pounds or encouraged by a friend to be thinner, something "normal"-weight, post-anorexics don't have to confront. These situations can be extremely triggering. This community is a place for "overweight" people with a history of anorexia or bulimia to share experiences, insight, information and otherwise gain support and feel less alone. It is also for people who are medically considered overweight, based on their BMI. It is not for folks who merely feel overweight due to a distorted body image. I also put "overweight" in quotations as the notion of "a healthy weight" it is, in some circles, debated. This community is specifically geared towards "overweight" folks who have been anorexic or bulimic, not "overweight" folks who have suffered only from compulsive over-eating. While COE is a very legitimate disorder, the issues faced by someone who has only been an overeater differs from someone who has had the experience of being anorexic. There exist other communities for those who have had only COE and this one was created as a forum for chubby folks with histories of, specifically, anorexia. Those with a history of bulimia, I suppose, are welcome as well. I suppose the key experience would be going from being clinically underweight to clinically over. This community should provide a connection for those of us who have experienced such a transition. Of course, all folks are welcome. We do not turn away any respectful person who wants to be a member, but try to keep the discussions relevant to the community theme. When you join, feel free to make an introductory post, including any of these questions you feel comfortable answering: 1) name and age 2) gender identity 3) past eating disorder(s) 4) current eating disorder status (COE, recovered, bulimic, etc.) 5) whether or not you are clinically overweight (most will be since it's the point of the community) 6) why you joined the community 7) how you feel about your experiences with EDs, both in the past and currently 8) how you currently feel about your body If you have any questions please e-mail the moderator at cryngovrpingpong@aol.com.
