the apartment.
hi, my name is elizabeth. i'm 25, live in seattle. well, i moved into my apartment a year ago (almost exactly), so i figured it was about time to take some pictures!
my apartment building was built in the 1920s, so everything's old and lovely, though it does make some modern things difficult (nowhere near enough electrical outlets, for one). it's actually a condo; i rent it from the owner. so the walls are white, and have to stay that way, unfortunately.

view from the front door.

i love this table. 15$ at an antique store.

archway into bedroom & bathroom.

front door & archway.

landing strip.

my mother nursed me and my siblings in that rocking chair! she also painted it and sewed the cushions. hate those cat pillows. i bought that photography show poster in paris about 7 years ago, love it.

bad photo, but these are sketches i also bought in paris that i still need to get framed.

close-up of bookcase. i wish i had more colorful books for a better coordinated effect.

fireplace... that unfortunately isn't one anymore.

better view of the whole living room. i really, really hate that table & the chairs, but they were free, so... also, the owner left me some furniture, including that huge purple couch. purple is not a color of mine, but it's so comfortable!

mantle with calendar, some v-day cards, etc.

random things...

my pretty tv, etc.

daisies! spring is almost here...

radiator with my boxes on top...

if you open up the top lid, it's where i plug in my cell, camera, etc. got the idea from blueprint magazine.

amazing 1800s trunk i got on sale at anthropologie.

the tray on top of my trunk.

these are actually doors to a cabinet that the owner left behind, that i'm trying to decorate.

view from living room, through nook, into kitchen.

that diamond cutout in the wall goes through to my bedroom. i really love this dresser, it fits perfectly here. it's another thing the owner left, i hope i can take it when i move out...

my 1960s schwinn collegiate! it needs a tune-up badly.

my little desk that i never sit at, and a view into the living room.

closer view of stuff... including my diploma, so proudly on display, haha.

baby stove! that ugly stain is where another radiator used to be... the owner took it out for whatever reason.

my tiny kitchen.

sink... i miss having a dishwasher.

i usually keep my recycling under there, but i just took it out. miracle!

cloth grocery bags are in the large TJ one, as is an apron.

the clock is off by an hour, and the day/date is never right. oh well!

my dwindling fruit bowl... i really hate having wood counter tops, they are a pain to clean.

love my senseo, i only wish it were red. (can you tell red and green is my favorite color combination?)

sweetest microwave ever.

my mother and i found these for a couple bucks at an antique store. love.

close-up of fridge things. my boyfriend made that magnetic poem, ha.

okay, "bedroom" time! it's in quotes because, well, it's really more a nook than a room...

my bed is built in. there's a little window through, so you don't feel like you're in prison, i suppose.

books, notepad, lotion, and my beloved electric blanket controller! nothing better than getting in a warm bed on a cold night.

the lamp is another sweet antique store find.

bed is high, i am short, so i need a stool like a little kid. those are two huge drawers under my bed that i have clothes and various other things stashed in.

closed closet...

...and open.

i just went through and organized everything. i have many more clothes, unfortunately, but i'm trying to minimize.

ugly shelves that the owner put in. but hey, more room is always good. pictures of my siblings, and my goddaughter on the bottom.

note from my silly boyfriend.

ok... my bathroom is kind of crazy. the tiling & colors are out of control...

NO STORAGE in here, thank god for places like the container store.

there isn't even an electrical outlet in here, so i have to have an extension cord run in from under my bed... haha. you can see it in the bottom right corner.

red robes are the best.

check out that purple square in the tiles... did toilet paper used to come in squares, not rolls, or something? curious. i assume that's what it was for...

the end!
