Welcome to the Ouran High School Host Club Fanfiction Contest!

This community is dedicated to monthly fanfiction challenges for the anime and manga series, Ouran High School Host Club. Modeled after such clubs as

iyfic_contest and

heroes_contest, this contest is supposed to challenge people with monthly themes, and award the best fics according to popular vote. Also, these challenges are meant to improve your writing and help you have a little fun in some competition.

As far as the schedule goes, the drabble and oneshot themes will alternate every month. You will get a theme for drabble that will go on for one month, and then alternate with a theme for oneshots the next month, and so on. There will never be more than one theme going on during that month. It gives busy people more opportunities to participate.

Remember: All fics must be new to the theme and never been posted before. No older and already posted work for other communities will be accepted.

Drabbles: 500 word count or lower
Oneshots: 300 word count or higher

Once we get the ball rolling, members will be able to pick and suggest themes for the next weeks.

And the fun part about this is that the winners to the bi-weekly themes get pretty banners to display on their journal, website, or whatever for their hard work.

Here are the rules:

1) For every month, drabbles for the should be 500 words or less and oneshots should be 300 words or more.

2) Everything must be LJ-cut! No exceptions! Please don't clutter up people's F-lists. If you do not know how to do an LJ-cut, please see the LJ cut mechanics at the FAQs.

3) All pairings, genres, and ratings are welcome. If you have adult content in your drabble or one-shot, please use a warning in your format when posting. NO BELLYACHING ABOUT THE PAIRINGS! YOUR RIGHTS ARE PRETTY MUCH FREE HERE!

4) All pimpings of other Ouran High School Host Club related communities or events on LJ, DeviantART, and any other website is not permissible unless you ask permission of the mods. PLEASE DO NOT advertise any other non-theme related fanfiction here. Let's keep everything pertaining to the themes. If you want to advertise your Ouran fic from outside the community, please do it at

ouran_fanfics instead.

5) I shouldn't have to remind people of this, but PLEASE let's all act mature and not engage in any drama. Do not harass, flame, or start a fight with others on pairings, subject matter, or anything else. If you have a problem with someone, come to me. Otherwise, general ass-hatery will get you banned. We can have fun and give people constructive criticism without being mean about it. HAVE A GOOD TIME!

6) Constructive Criticism: Comments are STRONGLY encouraged on the drabbles. We're all here to practice our writing and feedback helps in a big way. Constructive criticism is acceptable but do not engage in pointless snark. And don't be surprised if someone gives you friendly concrit about grammar, mechanics and even characterizations. It's probably a good idea to watch out for those things in your entries because some of your fellow writers could have things to say about that. Be courteous as well as helpful!

7) Banners will be given out to the winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd placement. There will be no mod's choice as this community. Banners will be created by the mods or any banner maker volunteers.

8) Format your entries as such:

In the Subject line, please put the particular theme and title of your fic.

Title:
Rating: all ratings accepted
Genre: all genres included
Pairings or Characters: Please try to give all pairings/characters a chance for reading. All pairings and characters are permissible.
Warnings: adult content, fluff, anything you think may squick others
Summary: Help us out and tell us a little about it.

9) Voting - There is NO voting for yourself, and using multiple accounts and getting your friends/sockpuppets vote so you win is really pathetic, and will warrant warnings and banning from the community if you mess up. ONLY MEMBERS AND WATCHERS CAN VOTE!

10) Themes start after voting of a previous challenge closes. All entries are due Fridays at midnight and voting polls go up Saturdays. Voting will end in about three to four days and winners announced the next day. Banners will be posted the same week the winners are announced.
