Great googly moogly...it is amazing...looking at that pic and knowing how dark his skin tone normally is...you see how great a job the makeup people did, making him totally look like a blue eyed blond. DAYMN.

they did such a great job that I really had a difficult time at first reconciling the blue-eyed, blond Legolas with the dark haired, olive skinned, brown eyed Orli...

There is actually a foundation base (has a green tinge to it) that neutralizes the olive in a complexion....(worked on makeup for a stage production) and it really makes huge difference in changing complexion colors...

as I understand it - the reason they did that was cause blond/bleached eye brows tend to 'disappear' into the face especially on film...

That is exactly why! though they could have lightened them a bit. When people have really blonde eyebrows the make up people tint them a little darker. I love your icon [info]wankers_fate

His eyes are a deep brown (saw that in KOH last week)....What I want to know is how on earth did they do that just using contacts???

there are contacts designed for dark eyes to change them to lighter colors

they did a good job finding ones that look 'real' for Orli's blue Legolas eyes

I thought his natural color is brown....like in deep brown which I observed when I saw KOH...and never mind all that amazing dark hair.....

that's what I meant when I said that there are contacts that can change dark eye colors to lighter colors

and that they had done a remarkable job in finding the 'right' ones to make the blue Legolas eye color look REAL

so this randomly reminded me of a scene i saw in the extended rotk where they forgot to put in his contacs and his eyes are brown. haha. you all probably knew about this before you saw it, but hey. i found it extremely amusing. oh, the blue contacts.

tanki for the pic! i needed to remember my roots, haha.

actually I don't think it was so much a matter of 'forgetting' to put the contacts in - there were apparently times when Orlando had more trouble with the contacts than others and therefore couldn't easily wear them all the time - sometimes they fixed the lack in post-production - sometimes they apparently forgot or didn't have time to do the fix

I have this pic as well in strategic locations and it is quite pretty, I must say.

BTW, I also use that green tinted makeup at times as a base when I want to cover something.
