Optimus Maximus Current Status Report
Our OLEDs were approved for mass poduction early September. First lot should arrive late October/early November. There may be a slight shift in the schedule due to possible shortages of OLED controllers supplies, that are shipping to Taiwan from Japan.

At the moment the main priority for us is firmware development. We use LPC2888 Philips CPU, and Philips doesn't have any ready software solutions that we may use right away.

Optimus Maximus will ship with an SD-card of 512MB and the speed of 150x. SD-card is mainly used to store layouts for faster access.

Current version of the PCS was preliminary tested for CE and FCC approval. Optimus passed the tests.

Special shielded room for testing.

Green antenna sences the the radio interference produced by electronics.

Actually, a 512 mb sd card doesn't cost much at all.

It's just holding images that are roughly the size of an icon. You could go years and not need any more space on the card.

It also tells you roughly how old your battery is and how well it's holding its charge or if it needs replacement.

One question: was the adhesive tape dispenser placed in the way between the keyboard and the antenna just by accident, or rather because the lead in the dispenser makes the values for FCC go down? :) - Patric

Well, if we believe the general consent around here, it is just a render of a tape dispenser anyway, so it would hardly block any RF waves.

Is that the testing facility?

What happened to the Atmel Microcontroller?

Where is that?

Where is the RF room?

I think I see the name "Siemens" on the wall a couple of times in the first photo...

And is there any chance of getting a Linux driver to set the keyboard images?

Is this going to work like an ordinary keyboard, on a computer without special software?

Beef.

If they release the specs for interacting with the keyboard, you will have linux drivers popping all around you in no time.

If not... well, I for instance won't buy anything that wouldn't let me hack some support for it.

Been there, seen restrictive hardware/firmware policies... got pissed, won't try it again.
