Upravlator Logic Board 1.2
Those not willing to unplug their second monitor to fit an Upravlator can always purchase second graphics card.

Upravlator will feature ultra-large (by Optimus standards :-) keys. Here's one from our workshop:

I could see a use for that. People who have multiple desktops, displaying the other desktop on the key and switching to that desktop when they hit the key.

Or for network/sys admins who monitor system stats....display the stats and launch the management software when they hit said button.

How about a Matrox Triple Head to go? Those things are pretty spiffy... :)

The Matrox Double/Triple-head to-go won't work, as they just trick the video card into thinking the display is e.g. 2560x1042 (2x17") then splits the resulting image.

What you could do is use a thtg on one output of your card, and the optimus display on the other. However, this would prevent you having the flexibility of multiple independent displays.

Bah, that's what I thought. Anyway, I'm pretty sure anyone that wants this upravlator is able to afford a second video card (if need be) in the first place.

so.. nuts for all the imac, mac mini, mbp and mb users out there then eh.
only the four grand mac pros can have both lovely options. after, of course, they do in fact buy a graphics card just for this.

you guys produce great work, but this is a little.. well, different.

MacBooks, MacBook Pros, and iMacs all have dual monitor support...

Yeah and you want a real monitor plugged to that port...

As a dual-monitor user of a DAW for recording music and audio, I would argue with just installing another graphics card.

Truly, if your market is aimed at Audio and Video workstation users, the last thing you want to do is create a device requiring an add-on video card to use, consuming critical resources that are needed for specialty hardware already.

If there is any chance to re-consider, I strongly recommend USB 2.0 or FireWire interface.

Better yet, consider both options: low frame rate video or stationary picture version using USB 2.0 or Firewire, or high rate video using a video card. I assume the actual button click will be registered via USB anyway.

The market will tell you in short time which version will have the most demand.

"I would argue with just installing another graphics card"

This is a fair statement. As a dual monitor user (single video card with dual head) I think having to add another vga card (if I want to continue to use both monitors) will certainly limit your market potential, or annoy people at best.

You should consider an in-line pass-through approach, where the device is connected right into one head of the video card and the monitor plugs into the back of the device - daisy chain style.

Good luck convincing anyone (especially audio engineers and video engineers) to sacrifice a monitor. Some of us already use 3 monitors! I am actually looking at getting a 3rd now.

Now that LCDs are getting so cheap, even simple people like me can get into the action, I am just upset that I have been having issues with compatibility. It looks like I am going to have to get a dedicated machine for the third display. Currently I have two standard LCDs with one being as tell as the other is wide so side by side, I have the small one in portrait and the big one landscape and they line up perfectly. I would love to someday add a big widescreen that lines up with both and mount these on the wall above it.

A version number? I expected some better pcb art - a picture, a logo, hidden message or something.
