About

"You may go to an opera to hear a great tenor, but you don't root for Alfredo, Rodolfo, Otello, or Siegfried. You root for Violetta, Mimi, Desdemona, and Brunnhilde." - Joseph Volpe

The leading ladies of opera all seem to wind up dead, diseased, or nuts. (Or in some rare cases, happily married.) Until they reach the last act, most of them have a personality tucked away in the libetto and the music. I've wanted to make this community for awhile, and even tho the fandom size and narrowing down characters was discouraging, I hope I pulled this off. :) Which one do you resemble? Come apply and find out! :)

1) LJ-cut your application, bold your votes, fix broken formats, and keep your pictures to a decent size. I cannot stress this enough, and I will be a bitch if this is broken.

2) No bashing/drama/trolling/trouble of any kind. "Omg Maria Callas is an over-rated ho". "Omg Angela Gheorghiu is such a divabitch. How can you stand her?" None of that. You're welcome to your dislikes, and the 'least favourite' part of the application is meant to be a bit of fun mini-ranting, but don't be unpleasant to others.

3) Put 'Sempre Libera!' in your subject line to show you've read the rules. If you put it there and still have not followed the rules, this does not get you out of trouble. :P

4) If you don't have any pictures to post, you can post a description. Limit your photos to no more than three, no cosplay, no nekkidness/half-nekkidness, and if it takes up most of my computer screen, you need to re-size it to a smaller size.

5) You'll be stamped after getting five or more votes.

6) You must join and have an application up in order to vote.

7) If you want to promote a community, you must promote this community. :) Link back to your promotion in your post and please keep graphics to a reasonable size.

8) Write clearly and n0t lik3 4n 1d10t.

9) Save stamps to your own server.

10) Any opera related squeeing/news/pictures/etc is encouraged. :)

11) This is a given, but do not push for a character since that is LAME.

12) Mlle. Mod does not suffer fools gladly and will not hold back if you are being a pain in the arse, break the rules, or do anything displeasing.

Q: I don't know how to LJ-cut, bold, or re-size pictures. Can I apply anyway?
A: No. Please find out how because that is something I will be unpleasant about if you post an un-cut application with photos the size of my wallpaper.

Q: I don't think I was sorted as the person I think I'm most like. Can I re-apply?
A: You're welcome to re-apply after you're sorted, but be sure to tell us why you're re-applying in 'Anything Else:' and why you disagreed with your last sorting. (If you just want to see if you'd get a different character with different answers, give it a few months.)

Q: Can I apply, even if I don't know who most of these characters are/if I'm not familiar with opera?
A: Sure! However, make sure when you're voting, you know who the character is and you're sorting them because they're most like that character; not because that's what the person before you sorted. ;P There are links in the character listing to the Wikipedia entry on their opera. Be sure to read it before going ahead with your vote. :) Half of the application is also written specifically for people who've seen opera, so it would help if you saw some stuff on YouTube just to get an idea of it first.

Q: Why can I only be stamped as a woman?
A: I wanted to cover a range of operas and if I included men, it'd be too chaotic. That, and I was really picky about who I put in a stamp, what it looked like, etc.

Q: Can I stamp someone as a character you don't have listed?
A: I'd really rather you not, but if you really think someone is like Zerlina, Minnie, or Azucena, go ahead. Only thing is, they probably won't have a stamp until I can get around to making one.

Q: How come you don't have Zerlina/Tatiana/Azucena/[fill in the blank]?
A: I wanted a range, I couldn't get everyone. I'd like to add more if the community is successful. :)

Q: omg how cum u dont hav elphaba or christine daae?
A: ...

Q: Do you work in opera?
A: I don't even know what kind of voice I have. Nope, I'm an aspiring animator and opera is just one of my biggest interests right now. :)

Q: *BITCHSNARFARSESNARKGROWL*
A: *deletes comment, deletes application, bans you, delights in it*

Q: Is this a 'Phantom of the Opera' group?
A: NO! NO! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NO! XD

Q: I don't know about opera, I don't care about opera, and I just want a stamp. Can I apply anyway?
A: *holds head* Sweet Jesus. Make an effort to learn something about it before, or don't let me catch you.

Q: I have a question not listed here.
A: Okay. Drop it off in a comment in my LJ, or in any mod post.
