This weekend is shaping up to be far more decent than I expected. It's fall break at ETSU, I actually have it mostly off at work (gotta work 5 hours on Monday), I'm gonna go hang out with the otherkin tomorrow, and I get to meet pyrofox IRL tomorrow, too.

I drive 40 miles to work each way 5 days a week, and yesterday morning I find this young rottweiler puppeh on the side of road, I open my car door and she hops right in and is super happy and extremely sweethearted and natured. I unfortunately can not take on a pet with my living situation as it is so I took her to the humane society and hope her family will be found or that come wednesday someone will want a very loving puppeh. I have worried and cried wishing I could do more for that puppeh.

WHAT THE HELL?! SNK Playmore is remaking KOF 2002?! 54 characters?! That's... everyone that showed up prior to the 2003 post-Playmore "reboot". I don't see Saisyu Kusanagi, though. :( They even stuck Jhun Hoon in there! Even May Lee! K9999 has been replaced by a guy called "Nameless" - which may mean they want to make the KOF Nests / Clone Saga canon again. I spy both Kyo clones AND the evil Kusanagi clone from KOF 02 in there as well. But no Saisyu. ;_;

(Pic source), found through CyberFanatix.
Man, they had better NOT MAKE RUGAL THE BOSS AGAIN, argh.

We've been suffering a total power outage today. Fortunately, the vital parts of our infrastructure are located elsewhere and built with redundancy, thus I was able to work from home. But this incident shows that redundancy doesn't mean that one's completely safe. We have two independent power lines at that building, apparently both broke.
And to the smart-asses who suggest purchasing a huge generator (and it has to be really huge): the building is just north of old town Nuremberg, in a tightly packed area with offices and homes. There is no way we could run a generator for hours there. It probably won't help, either. We were hooked up to a generator at the old building in 2001, but it was causing frequent power losses instead of preventing them.

Barry White - Loves Interlude/Good Night My Love |
] |
Therapy today was OK. In fact, it wasn't really what you'd expect at all - we started out by talking about going to the gym, working out and all that, but while that's not unusual in itself, we actually stuck with that topic today. :)
Of course, there still was a reason for this; I certainly could use some encouragement, so it was very good to get positive feedback, and we also touched upon various psychological topics again. But the main focus was definitely on exercising today, not the rest of my life.
Anyhow! That being said, my therapist mentioned that I'd visibly put on muscles (which I was glad to hear), and was also quite tickled to hear about my current weight; he doesn't think that the fact that it increased a little today means anything at all, and in fact thinks that I'll probably stay at about this weight for at least a while now - maybe at ~110 kg or so. I'll continue to build up muscle mass, of course, so my body won't stop changing, but he thinks I won't lose much more weight; personally, I'd prefer if I did, but I guess that as long as I end up the way I'd like to, it'll be OK.
FWIW, he also doesn't think I'm chubby anymore - I still got a belly, of course, but he thinks it my just be flabby skin that hasn't had a chance to contract yet, not fat. Supposedly, if you're under 40, your skin will contract again, though, and he also suggested I talk to a dermatologist about this to see whether it's possible to help speed up that process.
I might have to do so some day, yes - if I can muster the courage to do so. But of course, as shadow_stallion said to me last year, "sometimes you've got to face life head on with your head held high" (those words really stuck, and I'm very grateful for them).
Anyhow... getting back to today's session, he was also quite impressed that I could do 10 repetitions with 50 kg for bench-pressing, and he said that when we see each other again at the gym some time, he'll help me with a different exercise to improve that, too. From what I understood, the basic idea is that you start with a relatively small weight (30 kg, in my case) and do 3 repetitions; then you go to 40 and do 3 again, and in the end, you'll end up with a weight you can only lift once, or maybe twice at most (he estimates this'd be 75 kg for me right now), something you'll do several times with a relatively long break in between. I'm not sure I understood it all correctly, but I'll see. *s*
In any case, this will apparently make me very sore for a week or so, but after that, I'll have gained quite a bit of strength. He said that he's successfully used this technique to build up strength himself, at least, and I'd certainly be happy if it worked on me, too.

| Time to Wait |
[10 Oct 2008|04:46pm] |
Glad to say that Mixed Candy got the deposit and I am officially on their waiting list. Completion is scheduled for February of 2010, so I have 15 months to wait. Its not too bad since that will give me time to easily save up the remaining due in Jan 2010.
We have been blessed with great fall weather in Wisconsin. It will be 70 degrees tomorrow, which will be perfect to go with the family to the local apple orchard. We are starting to get ready for Halloween too. We harvested the corn and pumpkins in our garden and decorated the front porch. I have several Halloween activities planned, so hopefully I will get some great opportunities for fursuiting.

| Digital Cameras |
[10 Oct 2008|04:56pm] |
Well, my old Nikon Coolpix camera seems to be near-death and since I'm employed at the moment, I'm in the market for a digital camera. If you like yours or know of one you approve of, let me know. While I'd love a D-SLR camera, I can't justify the expense, so I'd say $300.00 is the ceiling on this purchase.
The things I don't like about my current camera: It takes a long time to be 'ready' again after taking a picture, especially zoomed-in images. Sometimes it's busy for 3 or 4 seconds. The flash drowns out colors, and when I turn the flash off, I lose the stabalization feature. Every image comes out blurred, no matter how still I try to keep the camera. No microphone, so movie clips were silent. Software kinda sucked. Flimsy battery cover.
The things I enjoyed: The media, a SD card, was convenient and large enough that I never once ran out of space while shooting. The mode selection wheel was intuitive, and most of the modes were useful. Even the digitally zoomed-in shots looked pretty good.

[10 Oct 2008|03:42pm] |
The bad news first.
I called the Keith County Attorney's office, since I have not received a response from them in regards to my letter. They did get my letter, and the clerk who answered the phone was "Our response is you must pay the ticket". Apparently they were less than sympathetic, and offered no other option than to schedule a court date.
Now the good news:
I called the county clerk looking for other options. I told them I can neither pay the ticket (and shouldn't have to, since it' was a beurocratic error that put me in this situation in the first place), nor can I appear since I'm 1200 miles away. Again, less than sympathetic. HOWEVER, she did inform me that the worst case scenario would be that my license would be suspended, and that the only way a warrant would be issued, is if I scheduled a court date and did not appear. Since my license is already cancelled, they can not take any further action. I confirmed this with the country attorney in the next phone call.
In a nutshell, I simply owe the state of Nebraska $119 for Colorado's screw-up, but it's not inportant enough to them to make a big deal out of it. I am free to get a new license from Ohio.
And black out Nebraska on any travel maps.

Caramell - Caramelldansen (speedycake remix) |
] |
Checking my weight again this morning, it seems I've gone up to 115.5. I'm not TOO surprised - I had my birthday cake to eat, not to mention several pieces of the cake that my mother had made last week, and of course, the gain may (at least in part) be muscle rather than fat, anyway, but I'm not too happy with it, still.
Not that I'm not trying to not be too concerned with my weight; I can certainly see that I've gotten thinner, and ultimately, that's what counts, but I'm seeing less of an effect nowadays compared to earlier this year, and my weight is the only semi-objective measurement I have, anyway - the only concrete feedback.
Oh well.
Maybe it's also got to do with how much processed food there's still in my digestive system, of course. I tried one of the recipes from the cookbook I got for my birthday last night (pancakes cordon bleu; it was OK, but not necessarily something I absolutely HAVE to try again), so maybe that's part of the reason, too.
