i know there must be others out there who, like myself, are utterly beguiled by old photographs.
images of people who have long since passed from living memory. orphaned pictures which have been lost or sold by heedless heirs. murky edwardian interior shots. much treasured and oft-gazed-upon memorial photographs. remembrancers of a bright 1930s barbecue, a wearied soldier, a nervous child before her first day of school. intensely personal items which merit respect-- if not given from the ancestors of those pictured, than from individuals such as would join a community like this one!
a few guidelines
this community was created for people who want to trade (or give away!) old photographs. i would prefer that you not try and trade photos of your own, identified family, but please feel free to share them with whatever accompanying information you have. please do not attempt to SELL photos here. you are, however, encouraged to post scans of interesting photos (from your own collection !) for others to admire.
also, "old", "vintage", and "antique" are all rather vague-sounding adjectives. but i would prefer that the photos in this community stay pre-1960s. and the older, the better!
