NaNOoooooo!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
[info]funkywiccan's post rememinded me about NaNo.

It's looming ever so close on the horizon.

Am I going to have the time to enter this year? I know I ran clean out of time last year. Im going to be living at the folks, but still have my own computer, so maybe; if I can find something to write about that would be my escape from work, then yes, I think I could do it this year.

But it would have to be something I was passionate about, something I would be constantly inspired to write.

Im all for others doing vampire based fic, but I wonder just how many vampire stories are going to emerge on NaNo this year after the hype of Twilight, so Im going to try and steer clear.

I would like to look into more Native American fiction though, I really fell in love with Jacob and his Wolves. Perhaps I could futher explore that area?

Suggestions?

[info]qween_tartii about to get started on working on that header for you, but you're not on Yahoo to chat to, maybe tomorrow night?

PS- Is ANYONE ELSE sick of the Olympic's yet? It'd be nice if there was SOMETHING else on at least ONE other channel. *grumbles*

And I'm home! (Bringing London's cool and rainy weather back with me, to replace the dreadful heatwave here in Portland. You can all thank me later.)

And my bag should be showing up in another two to five hours!

Normally I am morally opposed to checking bags, but when you have a tendency to buy large, heavy books when in foreign lands, what looks like a small bag suddenly has a density equivalent to that of a neutron star, and the manslaughter charges I'd face for crushing a grandmother to death while trying to pull such a bag out of the overhead compartment didn't seem worth it.

Man, air travel. What a fabulous heresy. 14 hours in a dingy metal tube watching Kung Fu Panda at an uncomfortable angle, and suddenly you've gone from the Queen's backyard to the far Northwestern territory of the New World.

And to all the lovely folks whom I missed during my all too brief sojourn -

Don't worry. I'll be back. For the sake of this fabulously crazy woman and her shop alone I will be back.

Hello Mr Butler, how are you today?

I am going to get published. I have to keep telling myself. Someday, someone will like what I've written. I haven't tried enough to be really discouraged, anyway. I am going to get published.

Dexter season 2 is out today.

I want to see Vicky Cristina Barcelona... Javier is lookin' pretty good... :)

And here's my favorite review of the last Twilight book, from the Washington Post. Hilarious.

So my internet has been playing up the past couple of nights. It's sucked.
Its given me more time to reread my twilight books though.
Yesterday was my first day back working at petrol for the week (the big boss is away and Im just filling in) and I caught a credit card thief! :) Go me. THATS why Im so observant of peoples cards.
Also, Renee came over to get Eclipse, she's moving through the series like there's no tomorrow and is completely obsessed. lol I've created a monster. But she's going through a tough time at the moment, her dad is really sick and so I think these books are helping her escape. She's all team edward, and still see's jacob as a 'boy' even though he's only technically a couple years younger than bella.
I rented a couple of movies last night, August Rush and The Darjling Limited or however its spelt. August Rush was really good, I didn't even mind Johnathan Rhys Meyers in that one, he was even cute with his natural accent, lol, at least I think it was, he is Irish, right? And Aussie Alex O'Loughlin was cute as his older brother. The chick from Felicity, forgotten her name, was good too, I think she's stunning.

My house is a mess, Im just ignoring it, because I'm 'trying to' pack. I move out in a couple of weeks. lol. Not so fun.

Ps, does anyone know where I can find some pictures of Jacob? Hi-res ones would be nice, but don't have to be.

New comic! Sorry for the delay, but I was having a helluva time coming up with some of the dialogue (even though it's based on a real conversation).

In somewhat related news, I just read that the awesome, accepting attitude held by most people at the San Diego Comic Con does not always extend to ladies. This part especially pisses me off:

"according to published con policy, there is no tolerance for smoking, drawn weapons, personal pages or selling bootleg videos on the floor, and these rules are written down in black and white in the con booklet. There is not a word in the written rules about harassment or the like."

I understand that girls at cons is a relatively new thing, but COME ON. A lack of an official procedure for dealing with grabby nerds is just irresponsible.

Of course, it WOULD make getting away with vigilante justice a helluva lot easier: "I'm sorry, Mr. Security Guard, but I had no one to turn to when he copped a feel so I HAD to slice his nostrils open with my nail file. I mean, I could have let justice go undone, but I ask you - is that what BATMAN would've done?"

I don't think too many people at a con are gonna argue with that one.
