1) Play nice. No trolling, no flaming, and absolutely NO taking it to people's personal journals. If you have a problem with another member that you can't work out between yourselves, please contact a mod. 2) Be polite. If you're posting news, cite your sources, please. 3) This is a NIN community. Feel free to post about past and current members. Please remember that NIN does not currently include past and current members' spouses/fiancées/girlfriends. 4) That said, if past and current members' spouses/fiancées/girlfriends do something directly related to NIN - i.e. public appearances, interviews specifically mentioning NIN and/or their partner, they're fair game. 5) Fangirl as much as you like, but guys, if you really think Trent Reznor is going to meet you and run away to Cancun with you, this is not the place for you. 6) Have fun! Be outrageous, be ridiculous, get your snark on! No one is immune here. Be a Mean Girl because Trent Reznor is a Mean Girl, too. Okay, guys. We are once again getting stricter on our rules for membership. Let me say this again in case I wasn't clear in the original rules: IF YOUR ACCOUNT HAS MINIMAL TO NO ACTIVITY, WE'RE GOING TO DENY YOU! END OF. I'm sorry we have to do this, but we've been getting too many applications like this. It's all well and good if you use your journal primarily for communities - you don't have to have a shitton of actual journal entries - but if you are, we expect to see a reasonable amount of comments in relation to the age of your journal. For example, if you've been a member since 2003 and you've received 0 comments and posted 19, and have no journal entries, we're going to deny your application. I'm sorry, but there is just too much trollishness in the nin community at large and I'm not going to deal with it here. I'm not going to have people riding in on their high horses making veiled threats at members (and yes, I have seen this elsewhere, so fuck off if you think that's gonna fly here.) Yes, we are a snarky, trashy gossip community and yes, we say snarky, trashy things, but there is a vast difference between treating this like the ONTD SPIN-OFF it is and just coming in to pick fights with people. Look, we're mostly an "anything goes" community, so I don't give a fuck if you disagree with another poster - that's not what I'm referring to. What I'm talking about is coming in, posting an inflammatory comment, having members respond to you, and you just fucking off because you've done what you wanted to do - piss people off. People post comments here that are offensive to other members here all the time, but when someone says something, they come back and generally continue the discussion in a more civilized tone. If they don't, I and the parties involved "have a little chat." ***I'm going to make a little note here regarding the inactive journal policy, but please rest assured, this is not a guarantee. IF an ACTIVE member here vouches for you, we are willing to consider your application despite our rules.
