Real Madrid and Barcelona have been the clubs bringing in high-profile strikers this summer, but lets not forget that other teams in the Primera are highly capable of scoring many, many goals as well! Especially against lower division teams in Spain called Navata
Forward Jonathan Pereira netted seven goals, Joseba Llorente and Marco Ruben scored four each while former Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires scored twice, with completely different squads in each half!
I just hope the Spanish-speaking commentators had throat candies in hand
Yelling "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL" 27 times in 90 minutes could be enough to end one's career!

City signing docked wages for broken furniture and dog damage
Carlos Tevez had his last wage packet from Manchester United docked after club officials found £30,000 worth of damage to the house they rented for him. The Sun reports that Manchester City’s new signing had money taken from his pay to cover the cost of the “trashed” £1.5 million mansion in Prestbury.
Furniture in the house was reportedly damaged and the Argentinian’s dogs were said to have ruined several items.
A “United source” said: “The house was a tip and we made Carlos pay. We don’t know who was responsible. But the matter has now been resolved.”

David Beckham did not get the welcome back he'd hoped for at his first return game for LA Galaxy this weekend, when angry fans jeered him and held up banners telling him to "go home". One fan's chants became too much for the footie star, and at half time he rushed at the barrier in an apparent attempt to confront him. Becks had to be restrained by security staff, while the angry fan was also held down as he yelled abuse. David has been away on loan to the famous for five months, and some of his LA Galaxy fans think this makes him a fraud. As soon as Becks came on the pitch the taunts began, and when he later scored a goal he merely shrugged in the direction of the most hardcore protesters. Talking about the incident afterwards, a calmer Becks said, "It's to be expected. I tried to shake one of the guy's hands but he didn't want any of it. That's the way it is." The whole debacle was watched by Victoria and the boys, as well as Tom Cruise and, rather bizarrely, Gary Barlow. Oh well,

Lampsy does not know if Terry will stay

.
Lampard, who came close to linking up with former boss Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan last summer, says Terry shouldn't be criticised for considering the offer.
He told The Times: "I don't know what he will do. I've been in John's position, but everyone at the club wants him to stay. I had an option to leave last summer, to go with a manager who I love, but it came at a time in my life that, maybe, just wasn't right.
"But the situation made me think an awful lot. It wasn't an easy decision, either, and I don't think people should criticise John. People should respect his right to choose.''
City are reported to have offered Terry a bumper £200,000 a week deal, but Lampard insists if Terry does make the move it won't be for the money.
He added: "When you're a successful player this kind of thing is going to happen and then you have to make a decision. John's a very honourable man and it doesn't come down to money and things like that.
"I know John. I know he'll be thinking about what's the right thing to do as a player and, in the longer term, for his career. This is not just about the money and people shouldn't try to make it that black and white.''

ROCHESTER, New York (July 19, 2009) – Abby Wambach scored her 100th career goal in her hometown to lead the U.S. Women’s National Team to a 1-0 victory against Canada in front of 8,443 wildly appreciative fans at Marina Auto Stadium.
Wambach, who was a high school All-American at Our Lady of Mercy in Rochester, becomes the ninth woman in soccer history to score 100 career international goals, and the fifth American, joining Mia Hamm (158), Kristine Lilly (129), Michelle Akers (105) and Tiffeny Milbrett (100). Wambach’s 100th goal comes in just her 129th career match, giving her the best goals-to-games ratio in U.S. history.
The milestone comes one year and three days after Wambach broke her left leg in the USA’s final tune up for the 2008 Olympics. It was Wambach’s first international goal since the injury and makes her the second U.S. players to score her 100th goal in Rochester after Hamm became the first in 1998.

Camp Nou In The Sea Sparks Barcelona Debate
Camp Nou maybe one of world football's biggest stadia, but a new one could be even more impressive...
19 Jul 2009
Emili Vidal has laid out ambitious plans to build the European champions a new arena that would stun the world of football and change the face of the Blaugrana.
La Vanguardia report that the visionary came up with the plans because he feels that the model of renovation that the club has accepted from Sir Norman Foster for Camp Nou is not enough.
While access problems will remain if the club stayed at their current location, Vidal's proposal would see the number of seats rise by over half if he was able to build a new stadium.
Situated in front of the Forum at the Diagonal Mar end of the city, the structure would stand on a man-made island off the coast and be accessible via a bridge.
Vidal may recognise that his idea may never come to fruition, but it has stirred the debate about what steps to take with the current stadium once again.

David Villa To Stay At Valencia - Report
After a summer of speculation, 'El Guaje' is reportedly resigned to staying where he is...
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic reportedly close to completing a switch to the Camp Nou, Villa's hopes of securing his highly-anticipated move to Barcelona appear to be dead in the water.
According to Superdeporte, Villa, in a phone conversation with Valencia president, Manuel Llorente, said he will not depart the club in the summer.
"It is decided, I will stay at Valencia," Villa is quoted as saying.
The Spanish daily further claims that Villa will join up with the rest of the squad next week and will hold a press conference together with Valencia to publicly address this whole matter.
www.goal.com/en/news/12/spain/2009/07/18/1
EDIT:
Unai Emery: There’s No Debating That David Villa Belongs To Valencia
Los Che’s coach has left no doubts that ‘El Guaje’ will remain the star player at the Mestalla this season…
“I have not spoken with Villa but I have kept in constant contact with the club and they have always told me the same thing; that he will remain with us,” he was quoted by AS.
“It’s true that a few months ago, his exit was a possibility but the club have paralysed all negotiations and they informed me that he will be at the club.
“So, for me, there is no debate. Villa is ours and that’s that,” he boomed confidently.
“There was never a moment where I heard that he wanted to leave,” he acknowledged. “In any case, when he returns, he will be as motivated and competitive as usual, he will fight and he will be looking to score a lot of goals. This is something that I believe no one can doubt.”
It is reported, however, that both Los Che and Villa are worried that the fans will not accept the player back into their circle after all the whirlwind exit speculations over the past few weeks.
As such, AS believes that the club will hold a press conference soon to give the 27-year-old striker a chance to clear the air and restore a sense of calm and normalcyAMEN.

5 PM EST: Canada vs. Honduras, Gold Cup quarterfinals, live on Telefutura (possibly another channel in Canada? Idk I just have the American TV schedule!)

Sunday:
4 PM/7 PM EST: The other half of the quarterfinals (Mexico's in there somewhere), live on Telefutura

There are also MLS games on, but not on national TV.
Live reactions here for any of these games! I'll be watching all of them today, other than the Canada one since I don't get that channel.
Let's see, more stuff...
Landon Donovan and his wife Bianca have split up, which is sad because I really liked her (but it explains why he took his sister to the ESPYs). But this pretty much means he has no reason to stay in the US anymore if Europe comes calling. YAY. Also it means he has more time for Boca:

Brian Ching got fined $500 for criticizing a ref on Twitter. He also posted this beauty of a picture. I was able to identify all 4 players in the picture. Front bed: Charlie Davies, Robbie Rogers. Back bed: Stuart Holden, Heath Pearce. You can't beat my identification skills, Ching.
I can't really think of anything else to add, other than this super hot gif.

OWEN GRABS WINNER ON
MAN UNITED DEBUT
MALAYSIA 2 MAN UTD 3

Michael Owen celebrates his debut goal with Ryan Giggs
It is not the Premier League and it was only a friendly but those Newcastle fans who had not seen Michael Owen score since January might have allowed themselves a wry smile.
Owen was 25 minutes into his Manchester United debut, having replaced Wayne Rooney, when the Malaysia keeper, Mohammad Marlias, blocked Frederico Macheda's dash on goal. The ball broke to Owen and that was enough. The picture of Owen on the Bukit Jalil's vast screens is the kind of thing Manchester United hoped to gain from their tour of Asia before the bombs wrecked their hotel in Indonesia.
"He will always look to score that type of goal, so nothing unusual happened today," said the United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson. "But he is wearing the number seven shirt that has traditionally been worn by high-profile members of our club and he has the ability and the experience to handle that. Some players would not rise to that challenge but he will."
Despite an offer from the Australian FA to stage a game in Melbourne or Sydney to replace the cancelled Indonesian leg of the tour and a direct plea from the Indonesian government to fulfil their commitments in Jakarta, United have opted to remain in Malaysia, where they will play the same opposition at the same venue on Monday. The Manchester United chief executive, David Gill, said it was not logistically possible to bring the Indonesian team to Kuala Lumpur.
After the events in Jakarta, the football was supposed to be the easy bit. And yet, a few minutes into the second half, the football was looking rather embarrassing for Manchester United. Facing a team ranked 157 in the world – one place lower than the Maldives – Rooney, driving his way through 76 per cent humidity, scored once and created another for Nani.
It would be wrong to say that the 85,000 in the Bukit Jalil Stadium was depressed by what happened; most had come to see the world champions and Ryan Giggs received a standing ovation for running a few yards of the track on which the Commonwealth Games had been staged in 1998. And then things started to wrong. Mohammad Yahyah, billed as a defensive midfielder, first lobbed Edwin van der Sar from 30 yards and then took the ball from the Dutchman's replacement, Ben Foster, as he collected a back pass from Darron Gibson. He slid the ball home to screams that were only slightly less loud than when Manchester United scored.
