About
Hello! I went through community listings recently in an attempt to find a spot where I could ask an Ontario-specific question about teaching, and discovered that there was no such community. In fact, there didn't seem to be a community for Canadian teachers at all. So I decided to create one.

I live in Hamilton, and I teach at a K-5 medium-needs school. This year I taught the grade 5 class; in September I will have a 4/5 split. In the course of my five years teaching, I've taught grade seven, grade seven French Immersion, middle school core French, grade 4, library, junior core French, and grade five. I am currently acting as the lead literacy teacher for the junior division at my school, which means I go to all the in-services and get to play will all the new toys - I mean resources - the Board happens to purchase for us. I'm involved in the development of our book room, our Home Reading Programme, and a few other goodies, along with our Literacy Improvement Project teacher. In the fall we'll be implementing Write Traits, definitely for grades 3 and 5, and hopefully across the grades.

Now, I realize it's summer vacation. Most of you (in fact, most of me) don't want to think much about school for the next two months. But while you're doing that summer schoolwork most people tell you you don't do, feel free to ask questions or post ideas here. Please indicate the grade level you work with and the subject areas/areas of interest in your subject line.

And spread the word!
