Tenth Month, Twenty-Seventh Day

Hiromasa woke to see daylight pouring through the open door of the hut. He shifted in the fur, blinking and disoriented. Seimei appeared in the doorway, the cook-pot in his hands. He smiled.

Confused, Hiromasa sat up and rubbed his head. Since the day at the hot springs, he’d made sure to stay in bed until Seimei woke beside him. He knew himself to be a creature of routine, and so it felt wrong that Seimei was already awake and dressed – especially as Seimei wore his white hunting-costume over layered robes of fallen-leaf ochre and deep violet silks.

They took Seimei’s ox-cart and travelled west, towards Settsu. As they passed through the commoner’s settlement outside the city gates, Hiromasa huddled deep into the cloak he’d borrowed from his ox-handler. The garment was patched and worn and smelled of sour sweat and animal dung. He’d never worn anything so unclean before, and although he was certain the stench masked his own body scent, he worried that Nose would smell him as they drove close to her hut.

Seimei seemed less concerned. He even peeked out of the ox-cart, as if hoping to see the incense-blender on the side of the road.

Hi !
I joined your community just today after discovering it yesterday. Let me introduce myself :
I discovered onmyoji through the first film because my Japanese language teacher was a fan and had us watch it in class... it was more than 3 years ago. I really had liked the film at that time, but it remained a half-forgotten memory until last saturday, when I found the manga's second tome in a library (they did not even have the first, can you believe it !).
Suddenly I wanted to watch it again, and searching for a way to get access to it, I stumbled both on the second movie and on your community.
I am currently reading all the fictions I can get my hands on and I come bearing a small offering, inspired by my watching the second movie after reading vintage_belle's story ( I really liked it !).




English is not my first language, please forgive any mistakes.

While the drama this Jrocker is in is set in the Sengoku, (Fuurin Kazan) there were some scenes set in the Capitol that made me go all wibbly, thought you might want to see:

Since the comm is so quiet here's my chance to look like a big dork by asking another weird question.

It's about the manga this time. Finally I have got all 13 books in my hands and.... can someone help me to understand what on earth is going on in the last couple? Granted I have flu right now so even the instructions on the noodle packet are challenging, but the last two volumes go way above my head (my understanding of the Japanese language is nil, I am just looking at the pictures...).

Does Seimei split himself into good/evil versions? What's the deal with the baby? And all the Egyptian stuff is presumably a past life? Uh, help?

If anyone can spare the time to give even the briefest synopsis of what's happening, I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

After seeing Onmyoji 1 and 2, and falling utterly in love, I am on the lookout for all Seimei Hiromasa fics that I can find, and have found some excellent ones through this com, thank you! Arigato, but are there more? Please?

I hope to have some offerings of my own in the near future, when I can explore the Heian era, and book, manga and drama canon a bit more.

1) Smokes like Hiroyuki Sanada or Lee Jun Ki (his long lost "twin" ^^)

2) Plays the piano like Sanada-san do!

Just joined and thought I better introduce myself...sort of (you may be talking to my addiction though)!

I found Onmyouji in a backwards way, I downloaded some of the Shounen Onmyouji anime and, while I did enjoy the dynamics between Seimei-Masahiro-Touda, I grew more and more attached to Abe no Seimei.

Now two movies later and a few of the manga's on order...and a hole in my wallet ^^; I'm wondering why the hell I never knew about this character for so long!

Anyhow, I'll keep it short; I'm glad this place exists as, disappointingly so, it's proved hard to find much on Onmyouji.

If anyone is interested I have a copy of the Movie I booklet they distributed in Japan when it was showing, got some nice art in it! ;)

Let me know and I'll scan it in for anyone who wants it.

In less useful news, the old Kinokuniya bookstore in Manhattan is closing. Everything is 50% off until the end of the month. If you happen to be in NYC for some post-Christmas shopping, you should definitely check it out. I was there a week ago, and they still had a lot of expensive English language academic books like translations of the old tale collections. A lot of these things are about $40-60 normally, so they're a great deal. Sadly, I was on a bit of a holiday budget, but I did pick up a nice one on Heian male friendship. There were a ton of things I had never even heard of too, and I thought I owned most of what was out there in English on the Heian period. I also got a bit of very nice manga (volume 2 of Ou-Oku!), though I didn't think to check for Onmyouji.
