Tutorial #004

to in the GIMP.

Step #01: Start with your base, mine is of Emilie De Ravin. This won't turn out that great if the coloring of the base isn't similiar, but if you can cover it if you raise the opacity of the soft light layer in step 05. You really just need to experiment. (thanks, [info]emmy_roo0
Step #02: Duplicate the base layer and set it to 'Overlay' 30%.
Step #03: Duplicate the base layer and drag it to the top. Set it to 'Screen' 100%.
Step #04: Duplicate the base layer and drag it to the top. Set it to 'Color' 100%. Not go to curves (Layer --> Color --> Curves) and input these:
Value
19,0
78,53
Red
249,234
Blue
28,40
248,255
Step #05: Duplicate that layer and set it to 'Soft Light' 25%.
Step #06: Merge all layers. (Image --> Merge Visible) Up the contrast by about 10. (Layer --> Color --> Brightness/Contrast)

This is cool, though you need to start with a base that has a similar coloring or it doesn't work as well. However, you can cover for that by raising the opacity of the soft light layer in #05.

Great tute, but how do the curves translate to photoshop cs? Beautiful coloring!

Sorry, I'm not sure. I don't have photoshop cs. There are a whole ton of photoshop comms out there, maybe you could ask there?

I'm sorry, but I don't understand step 4...
How can I input 4 and not only 2 "numbers"?
