An MP3 Rotation

10/16/06 07:52 pm - [info]reginahime - Rotation 10/16

So... um... My schedule has been really strange and variable lately and thus I haven't been able to settle into a routine of updating. I'm going to try to figure out how I'm going to update this from now on (what day of the week works best for me and whatnot), and I don't really know how long it'll be until I update again. But since it's the least I can do, here's a rotation I've thrown together while I have some free time to tide you over until... whenever. Yeah. Sorry. But it could be soon when I update again. I don't know. Just keep an eye on this journal or friend it to stay informed of the situation, if you're still interested in this rotation.

Janne da Arc - Strange Voice (4:56 -- 4.52 MB)
More Janne da Arc.

High and Mighty Color - Over (4:05 -- 5.61 MB)
I said I'd have more by this artist, so here it is.

Bleach - My Pace (4:26 -- 6.08 MB)
A more recent Bleach ending. I thought this song was a bit odd at first, but some of the verses are sung so prettily. Especially toward the end.

Tenjou Tenge - Aishitene Motto (4:10 -- 5.73 MB)
Ending to Tenjou Tenge.

Chrono Trigger - Frog's Theme (1:17 -- 1.47 MB)
Frog's theme music from the game.

9/1/06 12:15 pm - [info]reginahime - Rotation 9/1 - 9/8

I was somewhat busy last weekend, so I didn't get around to updating the rotation. I'm updating a day early this week because otherwise, I wouldn't be able to do so until Monday.

Also, I'm going to try something, just for fun. When I post songs to this rotation, I sometimes use songs that I particularly like and want to share (or ones that I'm just currently obsessed with and listening to a lot) and sometimes just pull more-or-less random stuff out of my music folder. At any rate, from now on I'm going to place an asterisk (*) in front of any songs that I really like and thus would highly recommend. Technically, this might not be any real indication of anything, since my tastes are not the same as those of others. But who knows? It might be useful for someone.

Janne Da Arc - Labyrinth (4:14 -- 3.88 MB)
Though you may not think it if you don't understand the Japanese, this song is quite sexual. But you come to expect that from JDA sometimes.

*Go!Go!7188 - Aoi Kiretsu (3:37 -- 3.31 MB)
Well, I've already expressed, on earlier rotations, my liking for this band and my warning of their somewhat unconventional style. So I'll just say "Enjoy!"

Morning Musume - Koi no Danse Site (4:29 -- 4.11 MB)
Cute and happy. Maybe a bit too happy?

*Bleach - Ichirin no Hana (3:38 -- 5.00 MB)
Yes, more Bleach songs. But I've been listening to some of these obsessively since I just recently got them. This is the... third opening, I believe. (The band is called "High and Mighty Color" and I expect to have more songs by them soon, so maybe you'll see more of their stuff on later rotations.)

Slayers - So the Brave Warriors Began the Journey (2:28 -- 4.04 MB)
Slayers BGMs have interesting titles.

8/19/06 02:01 pm - [info]reginahime - Rotation 8/19 - 8/25

Sorry about some of the large filesizes.

Janne da Arc - Confusion (5:02 -- 11.5 MB)
From the Dearly Album.

Every Little Thing - Feel My Heart (4:22 -- 4.01 MB)
Um... it's J-pop. What else is there to really say?

Bleach - Asterisk (4:15 -- 5.84 MB)
First opening to Bleach, by Orange Range.

Weird Al - Alternative Polka (4:50 -- 4.42 MB)
If you're not familiar with Weird Al's polkas, he basically makes a polka-version medley of various existent songs. And thanks to my summer habit of listening to the local rock radio station while driving to and from work, I have now heard the originals of all but two of the songs featured in this polka.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - The Riders of Rohan (4:05 -- 9.37 MB)
Yes, the main reason this was selected for the rotation is the gorgeous violin music at the end of the piece. Can you blame me?

8/12/06 10:46 am - [info]reginahime - Rotation 8/12 - 8/18

Janne da Arc - Liar (4:06 -- 3.76 MB)
Another song off the Z-Hard album.

Masami Okui - Mask (4:26 -- 4.06 MB)
Opening to Sorceror Hunters.

Two-Mix - Just Communication (4:20 -- 4.96 MB)
First opening to Gundam Wing.

Cowboy Bebop - Want It All Back (4:03 -- 4.64 MB)
Like the majority of Cowboy Bebop songs, this one is in English.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Hyrule Field Main Theme (4:43 -- 8.65 MB)
Well, the title is pretty self-explanatory, so yeah...

8/5/06 10:52 am - [info]reginahime - Rotation 8/5 - 8/11

Janne da Arc - Warning (4:13 -- 3.86 MB)
Off the Z-Hard album.

Aikawa Nanase - Bye Bye (4:38 -- 6.36 MB)
I like the fast verses in this song.

Noir - Aka to Kuro (4:30 -- 7.36 MB)
Another Ali Project song from Noir.

Slayers - I & Myself (4:30 -- 5.15 MB)
I love the acoustic guitar in this song.

Vampire Princess Miyu - Rush Act (2:41 -- 2.47 MB)
Some Vampire Princess Miyu battle music.

7/22/06 10:56 am - [info]reginahime - Rotation 7/22 - 7/28

Just so you know, I might not get to update the rotation next weekend. I apologize in advance if this turns out to be the case.

Janne da Arc - Child Vision (5:38 -- 5.16 MB)
Song off their DNA album. Interesting song. Dark.

BoA - Be the One (3:47 -- 5.20 MB)
Upbeat pop.

Mononoke Hime - Tatara Fumu Onnatachi (1:29 -- 1.71 MB)
The only other vocal track from Mononoke Hime besides the theme song. It's short, but the singing is pretty.

Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams (4:20 -- 7.63 MB)
Yeah, that's right... Green Day. I like this song.

Naruto - Orochimaru's Theme (2:33 - 5.87 MB)
Dark organ music that contains a variation on "Toccata and Fugue." Pretty interesting.

7/15/06 09:52 am - [info]reginahime - Rotation 7/15 - 7/21

Janne da Arc - Wizard (4:12 -- 5.78 MB)
From the Arcadia album. Dark and catchy song.

L'Arc~En~Ciel - Spirit Dreams Inside (3:43 -- 7.95 MB)
This song is the ending to the Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within movie. The song is in English.

Bakuretsu Tenshi - Loosey (3:56 -- 7.54 MB)
Opening to Bakuretsu Tenshi. Interesting, up-beat song.

One Piece - Wanted! (4:17 -- 4.16 MB)
Luffy's image song. A just-for-fun, amusing little song.

Rurouni Kenshin - Lunatic (8:30 -- 9.73 MB)
I believe that's the correct title. It's a long piece, but it includes battle music that is often heard in the Kyoto Saga of the show. One of my personal favorites, as far as Kenshin music goes.

7/8/06 10:34 am - [info]reginahime - Rotation 7/8 - 7/14

Janne da Arc - Wing (3:55 -- 5.39 MB)
I recently found this song, which nearly completes my JDA collection. This is the B-side on the Gekkouka single.

Ayumi Hamasaki - Trust (4:48 -- 4.40 MB)
Pretty song.

Slayers - Kujikenaikara (4:35 -- 5.24 MB)
Ending to the first season. Duet of Megumi Hayashibara and Masami Okui.

Weird Al - The Saga Begins (5:28 -- 5.01 MB)
This song is practically a classic, in my book. The song it parodies is also pretty much a classic. So it's like the best of both worlds. :)

Warcraft II - Orc Battle Music 2 (3:36 -- 3.30 MB)
This is really nostalgic for me. I practically missed Warcraft II music.

7/1/06 11:15 am - [info]reginahime - Rotation 7/1 - 7/7

Janne da Arc - Shonen no Hitomi (3:49 -- 5.26 MB)
I always thought this song had an interesting style. I always like JDA's darker stuff.

Do As Infinity - Hiiragi (4:32 -- 6.24 MB)
Not sure what to say about this one.

Rurouni Kenshin - Sobakasu (4:15 -- 4.87 MB)
The somewhat famous first opening song.

Vision of Escaflowne - Kaze Ga Fuku Hi (5:56 -- 6.79 MB)
Sung by Maaya Sakamoto. This is a pretty song.

Avenger - Ningyou Tsukai (2:05 -- 3.03 MB)
Very interesting violin music. Yuki Kajiura, I believe. So yeah.

6/24/06 11:56 am - [info]reginahime - Rotation 6/24 - 6/30

Yes, I realize there has probably been some confusion as to my unannounced, multiple-week absence. The official reason for this lack of updates can be attributed to the fact that I have been busy lately, both on weekdays and weekends, which is entirely true. The unofficial second reason is probably best left undisclosed, but let's just say it involved a certain world of a certain type of craft, in which a certain type of character had to reach a certain level and finally learn a certain curse of certain doom. A task which has been accomplished, so it should no longer be as interfering as it was. However, the lesson to be learned from all of this is that I am very lazy and a slave to my minor obsessions. Nevertheless, the rotation will go on as scheduled, insofar as I can actually keep to my schedule. Moving on...

Janne da Arc - Guilty Pain (4:31 -- 4.13 MB)
A song of the Gaia album.

Go!Go!7188 - Tsuki no Koura (4:41 -- 6.43 MB)
Not really sure what to say about this song. Typical of this band's style.

Flame of Recca - Zutto Kimi ni Soba de (4:03 -- 3.71 MB)
Second ending song.

Final Fantasy X - Suteki da ne (5:37 -- 5.13 MB)
This is a very pretty song. If you've played FFX, I believe it's the song that plays in the cutscene of Tidus and Yuna in the water in Macalania woods and also during the credits. Oh, and it's another one of those songs for which I can say: "The violin solo is so lovely!" (I actually have sheet music for it, but the 32nd notes scare me. Haven't tried it yet. Heh.)

Chrono Cross - Dragon God (3:21 -- 3.08 MB)
This one might also be fun to have sheet music for. I should look for it.

6/3/06 11:29 am - [info]reginahime - Rotation 6/3 - 6/9

I just now noticed that I forgot to put track lengths and filesizes on my last rotation. Someone could have said something. :P But it's no problem. Sorry about that, though. It's not exactly essential information, but it's somewhat helpful and it doesn't hurt to have it.

Janne da Arc - Moebius (4:06 -- 5.62 MB)
The other song from their latest single.

Utada Hikaru - Sakura Drops (4:58 -- 7.15 MB)
Pretty song.

Gundam Seed - Moment (4:12 -- 3.85 MB)
Second opening song, apparently.

3 Doors Down - Going Down in Flames (3:30 -- 3.22 MB)
For those of you who are sick of J-pop and anime music... or just for those who like 3 Doors Down.

Final Fantasy VII - One Winged Angel (7:19 -- 6.69 MB)
The Sephiroth final battle music from the game. This is NOT the same as the remade version used in Advent Children. The lyrics are different too. This is, however, the same version as what plays during the Sephiroth battle in Kingdom Hearts.

5/27/06 03:54 pm - [info]reginahime - Rotation 5/27 - 6/2

I'm going to try to update on Saturdays, until further notice. Good? Okay.

Janne da Arc - Heaven
From their newest single, which came out a few weeks ago. This song has a very happy feel to it.

L'Arc~En~Ciel - Blurry Eyes
This is one of my favorite L'Arc songs, and it's also the opening to DNA-Squared (DNA^2, if you prefer). I honestly though I'd posted this one before, but it looks like I haven't.

Two-Mix - Winter Planet
Typical Two-Mix. This is a nostalgic song for me, because it's been a while since I've listened to Two-Mix.

Excel Saga - Ai
The opening to Excel Saga. An interesting song. It certainly fits the series.

Serial Experiments Lain - Lain's Theme
Pretty self-explanatory.

5/24/06 04:02 pm - [info]arashikurobara - Omigawd update WTF?!

Yeah, yeah. =P Anyway, from now on I'll probably post sporadically, and pretty much just songs that I've been translating. All these lyrics and more can now be found at my lyrics site, Kashu no Kotoba.

Ali Project - Boukoku Kakusei Catharsis
ED for the latest .hack series, and the only one yet not to feature a Yuki Kajiura score (though she did still compose the OP, the score for this one is actually by Ali Project), .hack//Roots. Doing the initial transcription of the kanji from the scan to plaintext that I do because it helps me with romanization and translation was a bitch, I ended up copying someone else's lyrics heard by ear off a Japanese site and just fixing where it was different from the scanned lyrics. Also, I'm impressed at just how many words they can fit into 4:35.

Chieko Kawabe - Sakura Kiss
OP for Ouran High School Host Club. My translation for this is still really bad yet, there's a couple places that make almost no sense. =/

Masami Okui - Zero-G
OP for Ray the Animation. This song is really good, reminds me why Masami Okui has nearly always been my favorite J-Pop artist.

Suga Shikao - 19sai
OP for xxxHOLiC. It's the same guy who did about half the insert songs for Honey & Clover, if you've seen that.

Yui Makino - Jasmine
The b-side to the Tsubasa Chronicle movie ED single. I think I like it better than the actual movie ED, to be honest. =P

5/17/06 05:58 pm - [info]reginahime - Decision-making

I have two jobs this summer, so once I find out what my work schedules are and decide what the best day and time would be for me to update this rotation regularly for the summer, then I'll update. Most likely, it'll be sometime on weekends. So, stay tuned.

5/9/06 04:42 pm - [info]arashikurobara - An update from me!

Since it's that time when a lot of the songs for this season's anime are/have been coming out, I'm actually going to post things this couple weeks. This week I bring you a music video and its (still fairly rough) translation by me. ^_^ Expect a few songs next week once I've got more translations done.

FictionJunction Yuuka - Silly-Go-Round (.hack//Roots OP) - lyrics

Sorry for the filesize, it's fairly high-quality. Actually, come to think of it, for those for whom it's easier, have a link to the torrent. Since it's not mine or anything, however, I can't guarantee its availability.

5/9/06 09:19 am - [info]reginahime - Rotation 5/9 - 5/15

Janne da Arc - Answer (4:59 -- 11.4 MB)
I've always liked this song. It's dark.

Megumi Hayashibara - Treat or Goblins (3:47 -- 5.21 MB)
This is an intersting song. I swear, I hear the words "Dungeons and Dragons" in there. I'm not crazy! Not too crazy...

Trigun - Kaze wa Mirai ni Fuku (3:42 -- 4.25 MB)
Ending song to Trigun.

Rammstein - Sehnsuht (4:04 -- 3.73 MB)
Because I know you just can't live without Rammstein.

Scryed - Good Speed (1:06 -- 2.51 MB)
Scryed music reminds me of Cowboy Bebop music. Not so much this piece, but still.

5/3/06 10:52 am - [info]reginahime - Rotation 5/2 - 5/8

Livejournal was down yesterday at the time I was trying to update the rotation (which was actually in the evening because I was unavailable until then), so even though I uploaded this week's rotation last night, I couldn't update here. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Can't really think of comments for the songs right now. The selection is pretty self-explanatory.

Janne da Arc - Medical Body (3:45 -- 8.61 MB)

L'Arc~En~Ciel - Lies and Truth (5:25 -- 4.95 MB)

Slayers - Risky Gamble (4:40 -- 4.28 MB)

Globe - Departures (5:24 -- 4.96 MB)

Noir - Melodie (1:58 -- 4.53 MB)

4/25/06 11:23 am - [info]reginahime - Rotation 4/25 - 5/1

It has been pointed out to me (and I sort of knew this, but never remembered to double-check the information) that my webspace increased to 100 MB instead of the previous 25 MB some time ago. So I don't have to concern myself with filesizes anymore. This makes my job infinitely easier.

Janne da Arc - Red Zone (4:09 -- 3.80 MB)
Up by request.

Globe - Genesis of Next (9:29 -- 13.0 MB)
This is an interesting song. Yes, it's quite long.

Great Teacher Onizuka - Last Piece (4:14 -- 3.87 MB)
First ending song.

Phantom of the Opera - All I Ask of You (4:14 -- 3.88 MB)
I've had Phantom of the Opera songs stuck in my head ever since I rewatched the movie recently.

Chrono Trigger - Opening (2:33 -- 2.91 MB)
Opening music for the game.

4/18/06 12:15 pm - [info]reginahime - Rotation 4/18 - 4/24

Janne da Arc - Diamond Virgin (4:37 -- 10.5 MB)
Up by request. My apologies for the gigantic filesize.

Aikawa Nanase - Midnight Blue (3:50 -- 4.39 MB)
I have much love for this song.

Megumi Hayashibara - Brave Heart (4:14 -- 3.88 MB)
This is from Shaman King, I believe.

Gundam Wing - Ai wa Ryuusei (4:25 -- 4.05 MB)
Trowa's image song.

Shoujo Kakumei Utena - Hikari (1:50 -- 1.67 MB)
Piano music.

4/11/06 01:11 pm - [info]reginahime - Rotation 4/11 - 4/17

Janne da Arc - Kyuseishu Messiah (4:41 -- 4.30 MB)
A Janne da Arc song about Joan of Arc. How cool is that?

Move - Gamble Rumble (4:28 -- 4.09 MB)
Upbeat! Dance music! Whee!

Cowboy Bebop - Gotta Knock a Little Harder (5:26 -- 6.22 MB)
Nearly all the songs from Cowboy Bebop are in English. The lyrics of this one make me like it a lot, for some reason.

One Piece - Hi!Ho! Ready Go! (3:08 -- 3.10 MB)
A fun song sung by the various characters of One Piece.

Genso Suikoden II - Nahala Yam Koong (4:24 -- 6.94 MB)
From the Genso Suikoden Asian Music Collection. This is a very lovely piece of music.
