No, they just don't have a good selection process.

No, of course not! They just haven't competed with the right song. Eurovisionfans would love to go to Portugal for ESC, I'm sure...

I really don't get this type of reasoning. GBR commentators said (last year? the year before?) "Well,we didn't get votes because of the Iraqui bombings." Uh, no. Europe doesn't care about that, we care about the song. And the shining example of this is Serbia 2004. To most Europeans the word "SERBIA" instantly reminds us of war crimes. I'm sorry, but it does. Now, did that matter when we voted in 2004? NO, of course not, because Serbia had a wonderful, hauntingly beautiful song. It got votes from all over Europe, not just from its neighbours.

So, Portugal: no, we are not biased. When you pick out a great song and a great performer you will win. Just as the U-fkn-craine won in 2004, even though they are an Eeastern European country. And Turkey in 2003, even though they are muslim. And Israel in 1998, even though they are jewish. And Sweden in 1999, even though the song sucked. :)

Barely a day goes by without Sobe, sobe, balao sobe filling my heart with joy. Oh and Lucia Moniz too. One day they will surprise us all and everyone will have a great time on the port.

I think Portugal is just sending crappy songs.... if they send a decent song (like the ones Madredeus do) it will do extremely good!!!

Unfortunately, many fans are, even though they don't realise it or admit it. Do you think it's normal that most people left their rehearsal? Do you think it's fair that the Portuguese rehearsal was the only one not to have pictures at esctoday.com? Do you think it's fair that most reviews say that they had a good rehearsal, voices in tune, improved choreography but oneurope still bashes it with passion without saying one single good aspect?

That's pretty sad and revolting.

Why yes, yes I think it is normal to leave a rehearsal that is not going well. People are not leaving because it's PORTUGAL. It's not like "Oh, now Portugal, I hate Portugal and everything that country stands for, I will leave!" It's because the SONG and the performers are simply not as good as the others this year.

Look. Ask the Finns if they think there is a difference this year compared to other years... Finland has had great difficulty for 40 years getting people to listen to their songs. It's not because it's FINLAND, it's because they've chosen bad songs or boring performers. As soon as that changed (this year: Lordi) people are paying attention to their song. If Lordi were Portugese, everyone would flock to listen to them too. It's not the country, it's the SONG.

Excuse me? The rehearsal went fine, according to most reviewers, much better than what most people expected but still the same haters keep being haters and that's what's disgusting because their blindness is such that they refuse to see anything positive about it! The people who left the rehearsal just showed a lack of respect! Even if Portugal sent Lordi or even freaking Carola, some opinions would still remain the same, because "Oh, it's Portugal so who cares!" Same story every year, even with lovely Rita Guerra.
Pathetic to hear comments like "it's dated", it's "old fashioned" but still no one seems to say the same about other old fashioned songs this year, that's because Portugal is the perfect target to bash, as usual.

That's bullshit and you know it, the fanboys couldn't stop shooting their loads over Rita Guerra. It was the European public as a whole who decided her song was a load of old-fashioned claptrap.

Two words for you, Mr. Port U. Geezer, that's "Lucia" and "Moniz".

There was a cracker of a Portugese song, one that nearly everyone likes, and coincidentally is your best entry ever.

If only the songs that your country has sent since 1996 were half as good!

I'm not sure Europe is. But you sure are ... not a great deal: free opinion for ever even if biased ...
Good luck to all countries
