Eeeeerm...
...well having just sat through the evening dress rehearsal I now know that I know precisely nothing about this contest any more.

And that is a good thing.

Basically, for me, it reinforced the fact that Portugal, Russia, Ukraine, Sweden, Serbia, Israel, Finland ,Iceland and Azerbaijan all have a shot at the top 5. Now the keen eyed amongst you will notice that that makes 9 songs for 5 slots. Believe you me it is THAT open and those are only the ones that I can think of now at 11.32pm CET!

I believe that the semi finals have done this contest the world of good and actually have got rid of the p00 songs and that we are genuinely left with the 25 best songs. You opinions will be different of course but welcome non the less.

This *is* the contest I fell in love with, because it has all the ingredients of a classic. Loads of variety, different things following each other so there are very rarely 2 songs that are the same next to each other - and the voters of Europe should be totally confused so votes will be coming in from all over the place. One of my managers said to me " When will you grow up" meaning out of the contest - my reply?? "never"

We may well be writing something from here tomorrow but we'll see - as you can appreciate there is something else happening tomorrow.

Thank you for visiting over the last 15 days - we have had 250% more visitors than last year which is amazing!!

See you tomorrow or, if we dont make it, on Sunday night or Monday for a wrap-up!

If Europe is confused and can't choose a favorite, then the diasporra will. They'll be the only ones with a definite fav, while others will be hesitating what to vote for.

Possibly. I can't rule it out as a possibility. But in practice, Europe usually *does* work out what it likes overall - it's just us lot in the press centre that can't! :-)

Its time Western Europe went back to having its own contest. It is now a joke and not worth watching as the Eastern Block vote for each other. We can tell who will Vote for Serbia already: 12 points from Croatia, 12 Points from Bosnia, 12 points from Montenegro, 12 points from Macedonia. In fact wherever there are large Serbian minorities.

Russia, gets 12 points from the Ukraine, 12 from Belarus, 12 from Lithuania, 12 from Latvia, 12 from Estonia, 12 from Georgia. In fact wherever there are large Russian minorities.

Turkey gets 12 from Germany, 12 from the Netherlands, 12 from Albania.

It is just a joke, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium and Malta will have to learn to vote for each other to survive in the contest. If France and the UK don't pull the plug on it and take their money out of the contest beforehand.

Yes, but what you 12 points to neighbours bleaters always forget is that you also have to give points 10 down to 1. To win this things you've got to get plenty of those across the board - and most imortantly, 6, 7 and 8 from folks who aren't your pals.

And how is a different country winning from every corner of Europe - including some old stagers who've been with us for years - for the last dozen or so contests in any way predictable?

And more importantly, what will your excuse be if Portugal win?

You really aren't thinking very hard, are you sir.

If this was TRULY the case, why has Russia not won every contest since televoting was introduced???

oooh Hang on, perhaps cos the SONG still matters!

The countries mentioned, CH, NL, IE, BE and MT need to remember that this is NOT the contest they fell in love with - it has moved on, and will continue to move on with or without them.

In the words of the Pet Shop Boys, darlings you were wonderful, you really were quite good.

Haven't had a huge amount of time to comment this year but I've hung on your every word. Fantastic as ever!

thanks guys. you may think sometimes 'why do we do this' but it's truly been worth the read this year, proving that oneurope live reaches the places where other blogs don't reach!

We had Roy with his Lonely Planet series on Belgrade, footie, the alternative scene.

Nick with his culinary reviews, so we know all the best places to go and not to go, giving to Administrivia orders!

Franco, well just being Franco, throwing the cat amongst the pigeons, keeping you in check, giving his

"noice tops, different, un-ewes-yual" are they make it to the final we ask?

Phil, who stole the administrivia, and through Nick behind bars (or was Nick sulking? There's a whole song there, 'where zee Administivia!') who quite rightly over egged Portugal, because the show isn't over until the fat lady sings;)

ta guys see you next year...

One more thing; security at Nikola Tesla Airport are looking out for a suspiciously large luggage case resembling the length of a garden ladder... the Russians are on to you! Gasprom officials no less;)
