February 1st a beginning. For much of the retail sales community, it's the beginning of the fiscal year. That's not entirely important, except that it is. Not that it's the beginning of the fiscal new year - just that it's the Beginning Of Something, Again.
Um, the beginning of what?
This 'Year', Feb 1st 2009 - Jan 31st 2010, is the Fourth Year Of Finishing Fics. Or Art, since some people do one, the other or both. I, community admin Kalloway, declare this the (fourth) year of finishing fics. Killing plotbunnies dead with 'Fin', 'The End', and '-30-'. Things will end. Or else...

If you have a story you started in 2003 that's still lingering in a notebook at 500 words but you still have hope for it... If you start stories habitually but never can get them to 'The End'... If you still owe some one a hit-counter fic from 10k hits ago on your site... If you are still tossing around a plotbunny from last year that you aren't ready to give up on...

Oh no! Don't even worry about it. This is a Low-Pressure community. If deadlines and having someone chase after you with a spatula makes you work better, that can be arranged. But... the intent is to keep everything guilt free.
So I don't have to have a clean slate by the end of this?
If you've finished ONE THING you wouldn't have finished otherwise, you did good. Real good. If you have a clean slate, you'll probably have to stand still so the rest of us can throw rocks.
So what do I do?
Join the community. Friend it too, if you'd like. Feel free to introduce yourself if you'd like. You don't have to. And then sit back. Every Sunday (possibly varying depending on Real Life) a new 'Inspirational' message will be posted. It could be anything from a request to check in with progress (remember, it's all optional) to something that might seem random but actually has a purpose.
What if I write...
Fanfiction, original fiction, fanart, original art, yaoi, yuri, slash, genfit, hetfic, random squicks, whatever... it's okay. Please use proper headers and our friend the Livejournal Cut for any fiction/art posted because while whatever you're into is okay, the rest of us might not be in the mood for it that day (or at all). In all honesty, you don't need to post any actual content here. But if you finished something from four years ago and are feeling particularly proud, go ahead.
What if it's March/June/September/Whatever and I'd like to join?
Well, you may not get the full impact of the community, but feel free to join! Work at your own speed through the 'motivational' posts but do not do them straight through, in one sitting, or without time between because that's losing the 'low stress' aspect of the community and also the goal of not only finishing things but fully understanding your own personal undertaking.
