Thanks to an interview yesterday on the fan-produced “One Tree Hill” Podcast, we have a lot more deets on “OTH” star Bethany Joy Galeotti's “The Notebook” musical. The show, which Bethany wrote with record producer Ron Aniello, is based on Nicholas Sparks' 2004 tearjerker.

Bethany said during the podcast that after seeing Nick Cassavetes' film and subsequently reading Sparks' book, she found herself singing songs around her house based on the story's characters. After six weeks, she decided to finally put it down on paper. “I thought, 'This is either going to be terrible, or it's going to be great. I don't know which it's going to be, but I've gotta get this out,'” she said. "It's an amazing story, an American classic, that [I] wanted to do something original with." Thanks to a friend who knew Sparks, she got the author's blessing to write the musical.

What was supposed to be a short, hush-hush interview with a local paper to inform local North Carolina actors about casting turned into an international news story, with mentions right here on Hollywood Crush, MSNBC, IMDb.com, and in newspapers in Australia and Spain. "It was everywhere, and I'm going, 'What just happened?'"

Bethany and Ron workshopped “The Notebook” musical (check out their website here) in a small black box theater in October in front of Broadway producers and investors, and Bethany said all the feedback the duo received was overwhelmingly positive. “[The producers] all said the music was amazing — 'Don't touch it, we love the music' — which is just so, so encouraging for Ron and I because we worked really hard on that music. And everybody loved the dialogue, and they thought the story was well-crafted.”

“I was just super, super excited to get all this great feedback from people who really know what they're doing, because I don't," she continued. "This is my first time venturing into this side of the theater world. It's been an inspiring and intimidating and fun and exhausting and wonderful, wonderful journey that is not even close to over yet... It's an amazingly emotional and moving story and I really hope we do it justice."

Up next for the duo is talking to Broadway producers, a possible reading in New York City, and then rewrites, rewrites, rewrites. Also on the podcast, Bethany talked about her with “One Tree Hill” castmates, owning a restaurant in Washington State with her husband's family, her terrible lip-syncing skills, and her band Everly.

Bethany Joy Galeotti: HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Wow, what a year 2009 was. I'm happy to bury it; though fruitful, it was a tough one. I'm really looking forward to the next decade. Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement.

I spent this holiday in a few different places... visited my mom in So Cal, then to a beach house for Christmas with family and friends, then home for New Years Eve at the restaurant and flying back Saturday to Wilmington where I'll begin directing my 2nd episode of Tree Hill! Then more Everly and Notebook stuff!

I also wanted to let everyone know that I am still not on Facebok PERSONALLY, so here is a photo of one of the latest Fakers' page. Please block and report them, if you have a second to do so (I can't tell you how much I appreciate this!:)

Actress Jana Kramer may have stepped on to the ice with her love Johnathon Schaech (That Thing You Do!, How To Make an American Quilt) at a rink reserved for two on December 22, 2009, but she has been walking on a cloud ever since, as the actor chose the chilly venue as the site to slip engagement "ice" on the ring finger of the One Tree Hill cast member.

Sharing their magical memory with fans on Facebook, a video captured the proposal at Ice World for posterity. Currently enjoying their first days of betrothed bliss, (the bride-to-be happily Tweeted to her Twitter followers as they returned home from the holidays "flying back to LA with my FIANCE!!!!!!!!!") the pair have not divulged a date for their impending I do's.

Most Shocking Moment: We were grossed out and then laughed our butts off when a dog ate the heart meant for ONE TREE HILL Dan.

Most Watered-Down Villain: ONE TREE HILL gave Dan a TV show and a bitchy wife… then had him go all do-gooder on us.

Portrait Magazine's annual 'Top 10 Young TV Ships' poll has just launched at Portrait Magazine. The feature is in it's fourth year at the website. Nathan and Haley won the first two years it ran but just lost out to Gossip Girl's Chuck and Blair last year.

The poll is up on the homepage until the last week of January here and the Top 10 highest voted ships will be featured in a special Valentine's article in the site's February issue.

Let's be honest. There are two super-awesome reasons to watch “One Tree Hill.” First, the nonstop crazy pants drama. Kidnapping nannies? Dogs eating transplant hearts? Ghost wives? Yes please! But second, and possibly more importantly, is the fact that the cast is both talented AND attractive. Jana Kramer, who plays troubled actress-turned-aspiring screenwriter Alex Dupre, has gotten to work with the three hottest guys on the show: Robert Buckley, who plays sports agent Clay, James Lafferty, who plays basketball star Nathan, and Austin Nichols, who plays movie mogul Julian.

In case you were wondering, Hollywood Crush is now officially jealous of her. Though it's a seemingly impossible decision, we made her choose between the three men of the show. "I love Austin — he plays Julian. He is amazing," Jana said. "I mean, I have an amazing boyfriend so I don’t look at these guys like that, but that would be my catch."

And character-wise? "I would totally pick Julian. He's more caring, someone you can actually have a relationship with. I think Clay’s kind of — he has some things he has to work out. I would totally go with Julian. He's just an all-around good guy: hard worker, believes in you, good friend, good boyfriend. Pretty cute. Not too shabby on the looks."

Let's not get ahead of ourselves — the ladies of the show aren't too shabby themselves. Jana said that she, Lisa Goldstein (who plays Millie), and Sophia Bush (who plays Brooke) spend a lot of time together off set. “I hang out with Sophia and Lisa a lot. We do girls' nights; drink wine and watch movies.”

Even though it was a little intimidating to join the cast after seven seasons, Jana said everyone has been extremely kind. “I'm not just saying this because I'm on the show, but [this] is the nicest, most welcoming cast and crew I've ever been a part of. For the first time I feel like I'm part of a family. I was scared meeting those girls! It's primarily [Sophia's] show, and she's now one of my best friends on the show. It's been great.”

Jana said she spends the rest of her free time in Wilmington, North Carolina, where the show is shot, seeing movies and working on her music. “I sing too, so I play my guitar a lot, and write new music.” Will we ever see her sing on the show? “I sing more for myself to keep me inspired and doing something different. If they wanted [Alex] to sing I would love it! But I really doubt it.”

There's something to say for a show that's managed to regularly gain viewers over seven years. Jana said she thinks people are drawn to the show because of its real-life drama. “People love drama. You can't just keep doing the same storylines — you have to come up with something that's darker, and I think getting a little more twisted still.” And of course, the acting and writing aren’t too bad either. "I think with adding new people it can be good and bad, but I think we’re trying to find a good groove for it. The writing's exceptional. I think it’s some of the best writing on the CW, that’s for sure — and I think pretty good acting."

Which “One Tree Hill” guy would you pick? Are you as jealous of Jana as we are? What do you think of the show? Have you been watching for all seven seasons?

Bon Temps-bound Joe Manganiello is making a little pit stop in Tree Hill.

The actor, whose career got a monster-sized boost earlier this week when he was cast as werewolf Alcide on True Blood, has signed on to reprise his role as Brooke’s alcoholic ex, Owen, on One Tree Hill for an episode.

Manganiello will squeeze in his OTH comeback before beginning work on True Blood in late January.

When last seen in season 6, Owen was heading off to rehab. What brings him back? Beats me. Whatever the reason, it’s safe to say he’ll add another layer of tension to Brooke’s already-rocky romance with Julian. At least that’s what EW’s Jennifer Armstrong theorizes. I’m a little behind on OTH.

Thoughts? Excited to get another Owen fix? Happy to see that Manganiello hasn’t forgotten his roots? Sound off below!

I can't wait to see what this is about!

TVGuide.com: Any chance you'll return to One Tree Hill?
Lachey: I don't know. When you play yourself on a show it's kind of difficult to reprise that role. I don't know that it makes sense to come back and pay another visit to One Tree Hill but I had great times, great cast and great show. It was a lot of fun.
