Drabble: No Battle Plan Survives

TITLE: No Battle Plan Survives...
AUTHOR: [info]concertigrossi
DISCLAIMER: Not mine..
PAIRING: Norrington/Elizabeth
RATING: G
SUMMARY: ... First Contact with the Enemy

This ought to be easy. Why did her pretty eyes flummox him so? He regularly kept his head under the threat of imminent death by storm and cannon, so why not here? Where the only risk was that he might be cut openly? He was a thirty-year-old man, for God's sake, not some callow mooncalf.

He summoned up all his courage. "Miss Swann, would you care to dance?"

"Yes, thank you, Captain Norrington," she replied flatly.

Victory! He exulted inwardly as he led her to the floor. Once there, however, a cold realization gripped his heart.

Now what?

Oh. My. God.

So I just got back from the Pitchfork Music Festival. AMAZING. Seriously, one of the best shows I've ever been too. Jarvis was the best performance I've ever seen. We got there around 1230 and just wandered taking in some of the newer, lesser known bands. Check out Caribou guys, he is awesome. It rained for like 2 straight hours, but thankfully it lowered the temp. It was as muddy as Glastonbury there, I loved it.

We caught up with some friends and checked out Fleet Foxes, who were very folky and chill and pretty good. Then we got right in front for Vampire Weekend. Vampire Weekend is even BETTER live than on CD and the CD is awesome. They got the crowd into it and danced and were very cute. I never realized how attractive they were. After VW we check out !!!. Guys, go listen to !!!. AMAZINGLY GOOD! Fun, fast dance punk. They put on a HELL of a show. Even the older people who were on blankets were up and dancing. They had so much engery it completely brought the crowd up to their level. After they finished, I swiftly and stealthily snuck up to front row for JARVIS! On the bar and everything. Dear god. We waited for Jarvis while we listened to the Hold Steady playing at the stage next door. So cool. And Jarvis' manager looks like a darker skinned/haired David Tennant. Eye Candy.

As for Jarvis...

When Jarvis came out, I screamed so loudly all the photographers turned around to get a shot of me. It was in heaven. He is taller and slimmer than I thought (didnt think it was possible) and acts the exact same way you see in interviews and in his videos. His suit was so stylish and amazing and he and his whole band were wearing different colored Chelsea boots. Genius. He started out with a new song i cannot remember the name of, but it ROCKED. Then he went into Caucasian Blues and Tonite. When Tonite started he took off his jacket and rolled up his sleeves. I love nothing more than a good white boy arm. Hot hot hot.

Eventually he got around to playing Big Julie and I nearly died. He climbed up onto the speaker right infront of me (less than a foot) and got on his knees and started gyrating in front of me. Crotch like....ridic close to my face. hahah. He pointed RIGHT AT ME and made eye contact with me and sang a few lines of Big Julie. Then he came back later and did the same thing with Black Magic cause I stared wailing when it began playing because its another favorite of mine. He saw me yell and he came right by me! It was awesome. And he is 1000000 times sexier in real life than on tv/videos. His dancing...jesus the dancing. He was moonwalking and doing almost spilts and jumping in the air. At one point he ended up on the floor because he was just dancing himself down. It was crazy. Also his voice is perfect. Better than on CD in my opinion, and he is really funny. He kept brining up little things about Chicago and making fun of the city. Hilarious. He played Cunts are Still Running the World last and the crowd went CRAZY. Everybody was singing along. It was amazing. He was such a powerful force onstage. It took all my power not to jump him. So sexy.

After the show he came out one last time and sang Sorted for E's and Wizz which was REALLY cool since not many people knew the words. He seemed to have a great time. He also sang A LOT of new stuff and it was all great. His next CD is really going to be one to get. He premiered his new song "Girls Like It Too," as well. Its about...exactly what you're thinking. Guys are selfish when it comes to sex so they should remember girls like it too. I recorded it, so ill post it when i get back Sunday night! Killer tune.

Now this is the best part. Remember how I said Jarvis had all the facts about Chicago? They were all HANDWRITTEN out by Jarvis on a big piece of paper taped to the floor. and GUESS WHO HAS THE PAPER WITH HER NOW?!

ME BITCHES!!!!! The roadie saw me waiting after the show was over and brought it to me. I asked him and he said Jarvis had written it all out himself. Amazing. I have something Jarvis Cocker wrote in Sharpie and it is really funny. Life is so nice today.

Here is a picture of the Jarvis writing, a bunch of bands we saw, and plenttttty of HOT JARViS PICTURES!

I don't know if I want to share this...

But I am anyway. Laugh behind my back though, not to my face...

I have clips, that I cute for my love- of the "special" scenes in Dot the i, before I could send it to her... just tease her. And well, I was watching them... and WMP was on loop, and I just sort of absently let it loop a few times... not sure why... and then, all of the sudden... I started to cry! And it's just so weird...

So I'm having a mini moral crisis... I just can't understand why I'm teary over it. I mean, if anything- the clips should have the opposite effect. And yet here I am... all sniffly and feeling like a complete idiot.

>.> What a fucking loser...

EDIT:
You know what... I hate EMO moments. And that's what I'm having right now. I've been doing so good... and then it hits me. That sudden sinking feeling- that loss of hope and faith... I want to curl up in a hole and die.
Luckily, I know how to solve that. I'll go to sleep, and when I wake up, I'll be all better. lmao My dreams always help in that department. -le sigh-
Okay, nini for me.

PS- Kate, I love you.

New Video Tribute!

It's been over a year since I last made one...mostly due to the fact that I don't like doing boring photos when everyone else can do video footage. However, I have been able to rectify that situation slightly and, as a result, have a brand new Dark Harbor tribute for you.

Title: I Kissed A Boy
Music: Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl
Notes: Spoilers for the end of Dark Harbor. May offend some viewers. In fact, I'm rather shocked I wanted to do this video myself as I am usually squemish about the last 5 minutes of the movie. Ha ha. So if you don't like the subject matter of either Katy's song or the movie, don't watch!

The wonderful and talented [info]lineae has drawn a beautiful illustration titled "In the Jungle"  based on my description of James Norrington in One Perfect Day.  It truly is gorgeous - , so check it out over at her journal if you haven't already.  I don't believe anyone could have captured the image I was trying to describe more perfectly, and I'm honored that she found inspiration from it.  Thank you again, you have no idea just I love this! *hugs*

And for anyone wondering, the sequel to One Perfect Day is in the works. :)

Two whole days

Well, almost. That's how long The Dark Knight has been out without being seen by me. Shocked? You should be. I have had the countdown to this movie on my desktop for six months now. So why? Why have I not partaken of the grisly goodness? I'm going to blame my brother. I'm going to visit him this next week and he calls me on Friday all "Dude, we should totally go see it at the IMAX while you're here." And is says, "Hey. good idea!" It seemed like a no-brainer due to the fact that the closest IMAX screen around here is at the MN Zoo in Apple Valley. However, everywhere I look I see stuff about this movie. I may end up seeing Mamma Mia! just to give my brain something to chew on whilst waiting for the awesomeness of The Dark Knight. I'll probably live, though.

Yes, yes, I'm going visiting. I'm leaving Frazee on Tuesday to stay at my cousin Sue's house Tuesday night. I will leave painfully early on Wednesday morning to drive to Milwaukee (it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land.") to take the Lake Express ferry to Muskegon, Michigan where I will be picked up by said brother. I will return on Sunday to Milwaukee, from whence I will drive to Two Harbors to pick up my father. My plan is to just go with the flow. As long as there's Batman somewhere in there, I'm happy. There have been various activities mentioned, including Taste of Grand Rapids and a steak on the grill. Is it just me, or is anything more fun when there's food involved?

Other than that, there isn't much going on. I'm still volunteering at the Shelter, still planning to start classes at NDSU on Aug 25th. Still struggling with slogging through my accumulated crap from the past 15 years and throwing what I don't need. I'm also (apparently) randomly capitalizing things. I know you can't tell, because I fixed it, but trust me. Anyhoo, I'm going to eat a beef stick and go to bed early. TTFN!!

Harry Potter - Pansy/Hermione - To Hell With The Consequence

Medium: Books and film
Fandom: Harry Potter
Subject: Pansy/Hermione
Warnings: None.
Notes: This was made to celebrate International Day of Femslash (Femslash isn't represented enough in fanmixes). This mix is dedicated to [info]danniisupernova (I hope she doesn't mind), for sharing my love of fanmixes, and alerting me to the day itself. Anyway, I kind of planned this mix around the idea of Pansy and Hermione being unable to deny their attraction to each other. But of course, they both eventually realize it is so much more than that. X-posted.

P.S. Okay, I know [info]miss_bushido is gonna say, "Another song from the Fright Night soundtrack?!" XP But I felt I needed another song to convey Pansy's feelings, and this one really fit the bill. Especially with in regards to Hermione.

ETA: It has come to my attention that some of the songs may have been deleted. I don't know which ones, if it's just her, or SendSpace is getting on the ball about sharing songs. Anyway, if this happens to you and there is a song you want, please let me know. I never mind re-uploading songs. Or if you see this mix months from now and links have expired, please still feel free to ask. :)

TONIGHT! WE DINE! IN! VIRGINIA!

Also, I must share this gem from The King Who Lost America: A portrait of the life and times of George III, which is further subtitled, A Highly Entertaining Portrait of the Rather Endearing Prig Who Lost the Colonies

"The incorrigible John Wilkes did not rest after this highly publicized libel trial and the closure of his newspaper, North Briton. Wilkes and his fellow Hell Fire member Thomas Potter had composed an indiscreet parody of Pope’s Essay on Man entitled Essay on Women. Whereas Pope had inscribed his poem to Lord Bolingbroke, commencing the dedication “Awake, my St John!” the Wilkes version was inscribed to Fanny Murray, a fashionable courtesan and began “Awake, my Fanny!” According to an outraged contemporary who was familiar with the text: “The natural abilities of the ass are made the subject of an unclean description… the sense of Pope’s Universal Prayer is perverted to serve the vilest purpose of unchastity… God is ludicrously insulted by a repetition of the grossest obscenity…” etc.

The Earl of Sandwich, the appointed government spokesperson in this second trial, is reported to have asked sneeringly whether Wilkes expected his career to be ended by the pox or the hangman’s noose, to which the journalist made his celebrated riposte: “My lord, that might depend on whether I embraced your lordship’s mistress of your principles.” The trial, however, did not go quite so well for Wilkes. Bishop Warburton, purple with rage, ranted that the blackest fiends in hell would not keep company with the author of Essay on Women, adding that he begged the pardon of Satan for linking their names together.”

Oh 18th century. Why is it you rock so hard? We just don’t ask the pardon of Satan in court trials anymore.
